The "Cinderella Room" is a room in the attic where dresses are kept when no longer in production. There are gorgeous wedding gowns for less than half the price. You'll be in the attic so prepare to sweat a little and do some work digging, but I found "the one" in 30 minutes. The dress was too small (by several sizes) so I'll spend a little in alterations, but walked out with my dream dress for $350! Everyone I worked with was very helpful, friendly, and kept checking in on me. They also offered good insight on what was possible for alterations. read more

TLC Bridal Boutique was by far my favorite shop when it came to shopping for my wedding dress. The bridal consultant was so much fun to work with, and she gave me ideas for dresses that I had not even considered. JJ was a life saver when it came time for my dress alteration. I had purchased my dress a few months before I was diagnosed with coronary artery disease that required a quadruple bypass. Unfortunately, the surgery left a scar that was quite visible with the V-neck of the dress. The seamstress that altered my dressed had asked if we could purchase lace from the dress designer. She had planned to turn the V-neck into a boat neck. I emailed TLC Bridal Boutique and received a response that same day. JJ was on top of contacting the designer and ordering the lace appliqué for us. The dress turned out beautifully! read more

Not only do they have a ton of dresses but their customers service is unmatched. My mother and sister couldn't be with me because they live across the country but no worries I had my pseudo mom Kaila there to help me try on dresses and take lots of photos for to share for them. My sister (the bride) had an idea of what she was looking for and showed our consultant Sarah a few photos to start. Let me tell you.... she knocked it out of the park with what she put my sister in. She pulled 4-5 dresses and every single one of them was EXACTLY what my sister had asked. She immediately knew the first 2 dresses were her top 2 as soon as she put them on. Unfortunately my sister chose a dress at another shop after this, as she ended up having her "bridal moment" in another dress. It's great to go to if you don't want a dress with beaded detail to be altered to have a slit. They were kind and the snacks were nice, but I was an unfortunate bride who was told both in messenger and in the company of my Matron of Honors not once, not twice but three times to confirm that the dress could have a slit put in before paying for it. I, of course, signed the no return form because I was confident after they said they were sure the seamstress could do the slit in the area I wanted it which was described in person several times. They're the ones that work in the dress industry, not me, so I trusted the advisement. The seamstress said it was impossible to do the slit where I wanted it. I didn't want a slit on the side as you wouldn't have been able to see the boot detail there. If I wanted a plain dress with no slit that wouldn't have been on my radar otherwise, I would have purchased one off of Amazon for 75 dollars. When I contacted them, it had only been a couple of days after I bought it, and it wasn't worn except to put on for the seamstress. I, instead, received no refund and got no message back when I asked about taking them up on the offer to exchange the dress for a different one which would have been settling also, but better than having something I wasn't going to wear. So now I am stuck with a 3k dress I won't be wearing but thankfully ended up finding a replica that is nearly identical on MISSACC for under 200.00 with a slit and when it came in just recently, the quality was also nearly identical. I'm not difficult to please, clearly, but I don't like when someone can't make their wrong right. If you need an alteration, make sure to take pictures of the dress and go seek counsel from a seamstress before swiping your card, spending your hard earned money you saved your pennies up for. Sure, you won't be ordering that moment, but you could save yourself the heartache after hoping the wedding after you became a widow from your previous marriage would be fully enjoyable. I'm no monster bride by any means, but I also don't appreciate in any circumstance being told something is sure to be possible and spend 3k only to find out that it isn't and not being able to get a refund, or even half a refund which I suggested. I have enough stress between my cat fighting FIP, being on chemotherapy and infusions for Lupus, having survived septic shock but still battling confidence issues because of the belly it left me and being such a kind person in an unforgiving world. I owned my own business before my health took a turn, and while I had policies, I also had integrity and did right by my clients. If I messed up by advising them wrongly, I took accountability. This should have been a "refund due to circumstance" situation since "their bride" was advised wrong by their staff. Lesson learned. Hopefully, this helps another bride. I wish I could have said it was an overall good experience because I love giving great reviews on businesses since I remember how much they meant when I owned one. read more

I called on Friday for a Sunday appointment and they were able to fit me in right away! TLC really is a cute place that matches the historic downtown flair. The salon is upstairs and overlooks Market Street. There was the absolutely cutest pick up pink Cinderella dress on a mannequin by the window (no I did not try it on). They provide you with a slip and a bra of your size. The sales associates were very helpful and they (along with my mother) helped to convince me that it's OK to try on things that were originally on my "no" list. Of course, I loved them. I had the shop to myself and the appointment after me had to reschedule, so they had no problem spending two plus hours with me trying on different dresses. Ladies. I went dress shopping in no fewer than TEN boutiques (aaaand David's Bridal) in the DC/Virginia/Maryland area. Tonight, I found my wedding gown at TLC!! After visiting so many places, I can say this boutique offers one of the most attentive and, well, *joyful* experiences for dress-hunting. After calling last weekend, desperate to find a dress and running behind on the wedding timeline, JayJay was so sweet and accommodating; it felt like I had called an aunt or neighbor. She offered her soonest available appointment. Today complicated matters when I got out of work late, putting me nearly an hour behind schedule. JayJay eased my stress and promised to make it work. When I arrived and climbed the stairs of the unassuming row-house, I found a beautiful and chic little boutique and a wonderful assortment of dresses. JayJay was energetic and charmingly down-to-earth. When I told her my budget (think David's Bridal range) you could tell she was a bit daunted, but she was determined to find the right dress. She pulled around six gowns that fit the style I was looking for, and they were ALL reasonably close to budget. But ultimately, it was a BEAUTIFUL dress she graciously offered to sell off-the-rack that won me over. The dress was literally everything I wanted. I purchased my gown from TLC and I couldn't have been happier with how accommodating the women were when we came in. We were there past closing but never felt like we were being rushed out or pressured into a dress. When I went to pick my dress up we tried on some veils with it and none of them were what I wanted. There was one that matched my dress really well but I said multiple times it wasn't what i pictured. In my excitement I bought the veil because it matched the dress even though it was a lot more money than I intended to spend. I attempted to cancel the order the next day after some serious buyers remorse but was told it was impossible and there was nothing they could do. It didn't feel like they even cared that I was so upset over it. I wish I had been encouraged to take more time to decide based on the obvious hesitation I was showing while trying to pick the veil. In the end my veil was very pretty and did look great with my dress, which I adored, so it was fine. I just wish I hadn't felt like I had to settle with it. read more

I worked with Jay Jay and Terri and they were both great to work with. I came in to my appointment thinking I knew exactly what I wanted. After trying on a few dresses that matched my description of what I was looking for, something just wasn't right. Jay Jay suggested a dress that I never would be interested in trying on, and that one ended up being my dress! I will say that I have been to several other bridal shops and a lot of times the consultant is not friendly or willing to help but that was absolutely not the case with TLC. Had a terrible experience yesterday. The consultant (Patty) was rude and treated my party like the entire situation was an inconvenience to her. She didn't listen to what I wanted and instead brought me dress after dress that SHE preferred for me. When I declined to try some of them on because they were not my style, she acted like it was a personal insult. Patty ruined what should have been a fun experience and I would recommend that not only do brides go elsewhere, but Patty get a new job, because clearly this is not the profession for her. read more

Do not EVER shop here! I have been to 6 different places to try on wedding dresses. This is the only place that charged me money to make an appointment. You would think that once you show up for it, you'd get your money back. You don't. They don't charge $25 on Fridays but they charged me for coming in on a Friday because there was a Lillian West event. I had no idea about this event. When we went for our appointment, we were the only ones there. I was not told about this Lillian West event at my appointment what so ever. So I paid $25 for an event that I knew nothing about. When I asked why I was charged $25, the Owner said in a nasty voice, "We charge because we are good at what we do and we don't want people coming in here playing dress up." How rude. I had a dress on hold that I was going to buy on Monday but I told them to take it off because they were so rude. All over $25. I will never spend my money here again and I encourage no one else to!! I bought my wedding dress from TLC back in 2010 and when my cousin got engaged this winter, she also purchased her wedding dress there. Now I am going back a third time as the matron of honor for the cousin's wedding and AGAIN the service was great. I am very happy with TLC Bridal. We went to a number of places in the DC area (including Nordstrom, David's Bridal and Bella Bridesmaid). No where else did we get the same service and respect that we received here. They do not have the largest selection of Bridesmaid dresses, but I found so many that looked great! Some places are very controlling of what they show you and the amount of time you are given. We were also able to try on items outside of our initial idea of what was wanted and ended up going for a style and color that we had not expected to love. We were also not rushed to make a decision or charged the "rush" prices some salons insisted were needed. My mom called to make us an appointment about a week in advance. My future mother-in-law is notoriously late so I wanted to make the appointment at 2. My mom said the woman said they only did appointments every 2 hours, ending at 3pm. She said there were a little reluctant to give her appointment at 2pm because they had a bride scheduled at 1pm. Not sure why this was a problem because they had two dressing rooms and two mirrors set up in the room. Anyway, when I got there I was immediately greeted with my helper (I can't remember her name!) at the top of the stairs. She let me pick out a few dresses. I liked the first one I tried on, but continued to try on others until MIL showed up. Sue, who must have finished with an appointment, began to pick out dresses also. Well, she picked out THE dress. It was beautiful. They said they had just gotten this particular dress the week prior and I was the first to wear it. It was a little over budget, but they offered me $100 off. Very good experience. The staff here are great, and so incredibly helpful! I went to TLC last weekend to shop for bridesmaids dresses for my very large bridal party. I wanted something a little particular (all different Fall colors for my many bridesmaids).They worked with me and my bridesmaids to find a designer who had more than enough colors and a great dress at a very reasonable price. They also managed to measure and fit all of my bridesmaids - quite an undertaking with so many girls together - even though they knew we were going to another appointment right afterwards. At many bridal places, the staff is extremely pushy and it is easy to feel pressured into buying at that shop. Not so at TLC Bridal Boutique. I can't tell you all what a relief it was to feel like the choice was really, truly my own! The staff supported me throughout the process and made my bridesmaids feel good about themselves during what can be a somewhat stressful experience. From corresponding with owner JayJay before my appointment to PICKING OUT MY GORGEOUS DRESS to coming into the shop to search for accessories, JayJay and her team (shoutout to Suzi and Sue) were nothing short of incredible. They are the most down-to-earth, fun-loving ladies you could meet and hope to hang out with as you search for "the one." JayJay and her team are knowledgeable and professional. They know how to narrow down what you're looking for, encourage you try out different styles if that's what you want to do, and are more than happy to let you go back and forth between dresses or continue your search at their shop or elsewhere (however, I'm betting that you find your dress at TLC with them). They DO NOT pressure you in any type of way, and they understand the significant investment that a bride is making when she purchases a dress. The staff at TLC are kind, thoughtful, and HILARIOUS, and I guarantee you and your friends/fam will have an amazing time searching for your perfect gown, and the likelihood is that you'll find it there! I am writing this from a bridesmaid point of view. I called and made an appointment to bring the bride and her bridal party to try on dresses. That all worked out fine, but the vibe when I walked in the door was not so pleasant. The bride was already in the dressing area putting on a dress with Sue. When the bride came out she did not look happy, even with her support team trying to cheer her on. So as she was looking in the mirror trying to determine her thoughts on the dress the bridal party was asking questions about other dresses - to include a dress that was in the window. Sue immediately said 'oh that dress is discontinued and won't fit the bride anyway.' I was astonished. Further along in the dress trying process the lights went out and Sue advised that it was closing time and that we only had a few more minutes left for the bride to try on dresses. After the bride was dressed we were able to go upstairs and look at the few bridesmaid dresses, however not really given any direction. I'm not sure if Sue was ready for us to leave, or she was ready to go home, but there certainly were more brides coming in the door as we left. We attempted to go visit another bridal store in the area, but had no luck. Therefore we ended up at Davids Bridal in Rockville where the bride was attended too like she deserved to be, which is what should be expected of a high end store with good reviews. We will be finding another bridal store that is willing to assist, make the bride happy and make a sale. read more

The dress was not as I expected it to be based on what the ladies had advised me when I was choosing a dress. I noticed a certain look to the fabric, asked them about it, and they told me that it was this way because the dress had been tried on so many times as a sample, but when mine arrived in it would look fresh. I discovered this was not true when I picked up my dress - that look is simply the nature of the fabric. After picking up the dress, I thought a lot about what happened and felt a bit deceived. No one wants to be disappointed in her wedding dress, but I felt particularly badly about it because I trusted them and I chose to buy here instead of a place I could have ordered it cheaper because I thought TLC would be better to work with, which did not turn out to be the case.
