The restaurant was obviously busy. Maybe too busy for their staff. The staff was not knowledgeable about the menu when asked and in the middle of our dinner, one staff member removed our flatware as if we were done and ready to give us our check and we had to inform them we hadn't been served our entree yet?? This is the 2nd time we have been there and probably won't be back. We drove from Idaho and eat all of over the NW at fine dining restaurants and great restaurants and this would not be on the top of our list. read more

We had a terrific dinner on a cool April Sat. The place was busy, but had a great vibe. Not noisy even with a full house. I had an excellent simple salad to start. Very fresh. All 3 at out table ordered the Wild Boar Raguon Gnocchi and it was as good as I have had in Italy. Melt in your mouth sensational. We also enjoyed a very reasonably priced and hard to get Abeja red blend. I will be back on my next trip to Walla Walla. read more

11/21/17 Celebratory Birthday Dinner for 9. Service was great. They graciously accommodated our large "happy" group in the private dining area. Food was delicious. We started with the Bacon/Brussel Sprout salad which was wonderfully crunchy and flavorful. Entrees ordered ranged from burgers and steaks to cod in miso sauce - and everything was very good. The group favorites (all women, so lots of tasting going on...) were the papparedelle bolognese, mussels, and the burgers. Truffle fries were also tasty. Combined with a few bottles acquired during the afternoon wine tasting tour and we left with our expectations exceeded! read more

The food here was good - for 8 of the 10 of us. For one of us, her chicken was so dry it was inedible. For our vegan, they offered no interesting or creative option for her - she had pasta in tomato sauce. The starters - particularly the cauliflower - were delicious. The cocktails were excellent. They sit big groups upstairs which is probably good for everyone. But I must say - and I almost gave TMacs two stars because of it - that there was a palpable tension from and amongst the staff, as good as they were on a busy night, and it presented itself to everyone that it was less about the customer and more about what the restaurant was willing to do. I felt this same tone in the days prior to our arrival when I was asked three different times to confirm our reservation and whether we would be on one bill or multiple (the latter option clearly being a put-off to them). The restaurant has perhaps been burned by big groups in the past not showing up, but there was something in the way I was asked to confirm our reservation each time that made me feel that we were going to possibly be a burden to them rather than welcomed guests. The food that was good was very good. But it put a damper on things that a couple of us had pretty bad meals. This plus the underlying feeling of being a bit unwelcomed leads me to not recommend this restaurant. But, it was recommended to us by many people who love it. The dramatically different reviews I also saw on Yelp and Trip Advisor do seem to accurately reflect what we found just amongst our group in this restaurant. We had reservations for six on a Friday night at 7:45pm but were not seated until 8:25pm. While we were left standing in the entrance waiting for a table to open up, they did comp an inexpensive bottle of wine which dulled the pain in our feet somewhat. After seating the wait staff was very attentive and took our orders quickly. The appetizers were excellent as was the soup (tomato bisque - spicy!) and salads that followed. The biggest problem was the wait for the entrees which did not arrive until 45 minutes after the soup/salad had been eaten, almost 10pm at that point. While the entrees (salmon, duck, tenderloin, pastas) were excellent, the combined waiting ultimately spoiled the meal for all. At the request of the other members of the party I asked for the check shortly after the entrees were served and we departed with considerably less than half the food consumed. After the long wait to be seated you'd have thought they'd have tripped over themselves making sure service was prompt the remainder of the evening. And you'd have been wrong. Overall, I give high marks for the wait staff and food, but management gets an "F". We won't be going back. read more

Not worth the price. The mussels were ok but that was the highlight, and not much at that. The bread was dry and lacked taste. I had the bolognese which tasted on par with hamburger helper. My wife's small piece of halibut was good but the four slices of potato that came with it were flavorless. Save your money for a nice meal elsewhere if you can find it. My husband and I had dinner at T. Maccarones on Saturday Sept. 4th. We had called ahead the Monday prior to make reservations - always a good idea as this place is packed on the weekends. I will start with the positives. 1. We were seated promptly upon our arrival at 7 PM. The lighting was just right (not too bright, but not so dim you couldn't read the menu). 2. The menu itself featured a nice variety of meat based and vegetarian options. 3. Our food was nicely presented, the proper temperature, and delicious. I had the tagliatelle and my husband had the duck. Now with the not so positives. 1. Besides lighting, the ambiance left something to be desired. My husband and I wanted to go out for a romantic dinner, and our table was back in a tight crowded corner, with a window that looked out onto...the alley. With a garbage dumpster. And the window had bars on it. This is supposed to be one of the most upscale restaurants in Walla Walla, and they have bars on the windows? It was depressing to look at, so we closed the blinds. The place was packed, so a request to switch tables was pretty much out of the question. 2. We waited at least 15 minutes to get our water glasses filled after sitting down, and almost 45 minutes for our meal. We were starving, so we kept asking for more bread. We were not the only ones to note the delay - we overheard at the table of five next to us say "45 minutes for pasta is ridiculous". I agree. 3. The waitress did not acknowledge the delay beyond saying the food would be right out...which turned out to be another 10 minutes. No apology for the delay. 4. Only one single stall restroom - for women and men. There was always a line. Perhaps this place could be great during the week or for lunch...if you have lots of time. But I was underwhelmed by the service and probably won't be back. Not that it will matter as this is one of the most popular restaurants in the city. read more

We dined with another couple on Friday night at T. Maccarones. We are all accustomed to fine dining in large cities and did not know what to expect in Walla Walla. From the first interaction with the waiter to the last minute it was a wonderful experience. The craft cocktails were as good as any in a large city. Don't look for better Italian food in Walla Walla or a better dining experiance. T.Macs steals the show compared to the others. I have always enjoyed every dish and drink I have ordered from here. And if there has ever been any issue with any order it has always been quickly and graciously corrected. Was really looking forward to our dinner at Tmacs. It came highly recommended by a local Walla Walla resident. Overall the food was very good, however, there just wasn't enough of it. The salmon dinner was adequately portioned and on point. The scallops were amazing and did contain enough sides to make the serving appropriate but on more scallop would be ideal. The gnocchi serving was embarrassingly small. The others at the table didnt even know what to say. The bolonaise was also small and needed a piece of bread and a topping like parameson to bring the dish together. No bread was offered or served throughout the entire meal. The charcuterie plate had a nice selection but the "homemade chips" meant to serve as the bread-like portion of the plate were small and only 4 were included. Again not enough for charcuterie appetizer. Dessert was on point in flourless chocolate cake and creme brulee. Service was just adequate but pushy as it related to picking the wine and wanting to suggest alternative stops to the next days wine tasting tour already already scheduled. Overall an okay meal but for a total bill of more than $300 before the tip for a table of 4, I would expect significantly more food on the entree plates. read more

We were at the restaurant last night 8/29/15. Food was very good! However, we were a party of 6 seated upstairs between a party of 10 women and another party of 8. They were both so noisy we could not hear each other speak. Very distracting snd ruined our dinner and out visit with our friends from Walla Walla. Would never go again and sit upstairs. read more

This was my first experience with bad EVERYTHING eating out....the only thing good was the pear salad. We had ordered cocktails...I didn't get mine till AFTER the salad, the bread had been "on it's way" since we first sat down (table was still wet)....I asked the waiter if I could get a glass of wine instead of my missing cocktail, he told me my cocktail was finally done...really?...holycow....the bread came, AFTER we finished our salads, it felt like it had just gotten out of a freezer...nothing was good after that...dinner was worse.My entree was supposed to have crab meat, it was subbed with SHRIMP... not the "giant" prawns the waiter said would be replacing the crap with.....vinegary soupy shrimp saffron pasta was served...gag. After talking with the manager about the service and food (he didn't seem to care much) we paid for everything but my entree and left...bad customer service:-( We will never go back...and would not recommend at all. read more

We were seated right away on a Friday night, which surprised us. The restaurant is lovely and the staff very energetic and attentive. Bread with vinegar/oil for dipping was brought to us after we placed our order. There were three in our party. One ordered the Cioppino and gave it high reviews. She would order it again. Another had the Pear Salad and the Mac and Cheese. The salad was delicious, but the mac and cheese tasted like "noodles and roux". She would order the salad again. Lastly, I had the gnocchi. I would have really enjoyed this dish had the gnocchi not been grilled and slightly burnt. Disappointing. We were blown away by the awesome service we received here! I had called to make a (very poorly planned and last minute) reservation for a large group of 11, and not only did Neal totally work with me to fit us in, they put us in a wonderful private area where we were so well taken care of it was great! Our group was not only pretty big but also had a lot of food restrictions, several vegetarians and one vegan, and the kitchen was awesome and whipped up special dishes that were not on the menu so that everyone could enjoy the food that fit their dietary needs. I personally ordered the Parppardelle all Bolognese and it was delicious with lots of fresh pasta, great flavors and a very large portion. I also got to try the lamb with gnocchi which was very good and had generous portions of lamb that was prepared perfectly, as well as the truffle mac n cheese, which was good, not great (to be fair, I did take a bite near the end of the meal so it was cold from being out on the table for a while). Their wine list is pretty great, I wouldn't have minded seeing more options for wine by the glass, and their specialty cocktails got rave reviews from the girls who ordered them. I was just so incredibly pleased with the service and how great Neal was to our group, which went beyond 5-stars, I would highly recommend this spot for that alone, as well as the delicious food (which was on-scale with four stars). We spent an overnight in Walla Walla, and based on the many favorable reviews, had dinner at T. Macarones. We were seated promptly by a smiling hostess and seated by a window. Despite a pretty full house, Our extremely knowledgeable and friendly waiter, Tom, chatted with us about menu items and our individual likes and dislikes. George likes to try different things, so he opted for the Prawn Arrabbiata which was full of delicious prawns and, as the name implies, was quite spicy. The interesting black spaghetti (from being prepared in squid ink) was very unusual, but tasty. I opted for the Pappardelle pasta Bolognese, which was not your usual preparation Tom explained. True to his word, the homemade wide noodles were bathed in a tomato-cream sauce with a mixture of sauteed ground pork and beef. Soooooo yummy. When we were Considering our wine to accompany dinner, Tom brought a Sample of two wines for us to choose. We selected a bottle of Abeja, the house red. It was so good we bought three bottles fhe next day tto take with us. We hope to spend a week or two in Walla Walla in the future and can't wait to return to this wonderful restaurant. read more
