I hired a friend to  remodel my washroom and one of his sub contractors is TMZ Plumbing. I was removing the bath tub and turning it into just a shower. They rerouted the pipes. Well, it had a pretty serious leak and no water pressure for the shower.  I called TMZ the next day, Saturday, and was told by Todd that he would be out later that day and he would call me after he was done with a current job. well, I waited all day and never heard back from him. Sunday I fired my friend, but I was told that he talked to Todd and that he would be at my place along with Todd, between 12 and 1. At 1:30 no one had shown up.  Today, Monday, Todd threatened me and said he's coming to my house to remove his  temporary  shower pan along with a few other things.  DO NOT HIRE these scammers. I replaced my water heater because was over 18 yrs old. And glad I did, the interior of the heater started to come apart and filling with sediment. TMZ to the rescue. Needed my garbage disposal replaced. It may have been under warranty since TMZ put it in originally. They were supposed to come out to look after 3 weeks of phone tag...they forgot to come. When I called again and gave them the benefit of the doubt, he said they would be out the next day. I waited at home checking periodically and was told they were still coming to have a look. When I checked again at 6:30, the plumber went home and never told me he wasn't coming..... this has been going on for over a month. Unreliable, unprofessional, and inconsiderate. Called TMZ Plumbing on a recommendation from another plumber that was completely booked. This was for a semi-emergency. My folks (In their 90's) had a whole-house water filter fail and send tiny charcoal grain throughout their water system clogging faucets and toilet valves. This happened on a Thursday. TMZ called me back and said they were busy that day but would be out at noon on Friday. Now mind you, after I did some fixing Thursday evening, my folks had working toilets, but all their faucets were, at best, a trickle. On Friday at 2pm TMZ still hadn't shown up, so I called them. I was assured that they were finishing up a job and would be out soon. An hour later I called again, and they said they were sill working on the last job and would call as soon as they were done. I never heard from them again. Completely ghosted me. No apology, no offer to come out Saturday morning.... nothing. So, now I'm looking at a weekend with two geriatric parents with barely running water in their home. I was forced on Saturday to attempt fixing it myself. In the end I was able to get things working again but with significant effort and pain. (I have an injured left thumb and a right rotator cuff injury, and I'm in my 60's so climbing under cabinets is not fun or easy). Needless to say, I will never call TMZ again. GHOSTING US! We bought a new house that failed the Radon test. The company attempted twice to mitigate the radon and it failed twice. Now that we have moved in and taken over from the previous owners they are ghosting us. They guaranteed the work but it seems they don't want to finish the job. Ruined my brand new floors by turning a water line on that we told them was disconnected. Caused over 1000.00 damage to the floor and initially agreed to pay for it but then totally ghosted. The pilot light went out on my hot water heater. According to the instruction book it appeared to be a gas valve thermostat causing it to shut down. When I called, I got a real person, not an answering service and when I had questions, I was able to talk to a technical person. i Was offered same day or next day and I chose next day because it was not an emergency. When the tech came out he quickly diagnosed the issue and explained the cause as oxide settlement which required a new water heater. They came back in a couple of hours and installed a new one. What a shame. I moved into an older house two years ago and got a coupon from TMZ in my welcome package that the Chamber of Commerce gave us. Our kitchen drain needed to be snaked so we called them out. Todd and crew were nice and got the job done. Being fiercely loyal, we have recommended them to people in our area several times. Over the last 2 years we have used them 4 times for our basement drain, which has been backing up about every 6 months. Each time they snaked through the same access pipe and said they didn't feel a clog but the water went down so we were happy, paid them and waited for it to clog again. Last year Todd suggested that we repipe the basement to bypass that drain altogether. It was going to be really expensive and my husband said we had to wait. Thankfully, we waited. On to this spring and the inevitable flood we knew was coming. It backed up on a Sunday. We called Monday morning and I got todd direct. We made an appointment for Wednesday before 1 PM and decided that the next step was to send a camera down and the jet the clog. This was going to be a $400+ job compared to the $250 we have been paying for the standard snaking. My husband took the morning off work (unpaid) and waited for TMZ. Guess what?!? No show. No call. Nothing. So at 1:30 I called the office and Heather answered. She said she would call Todd and find out what happened. I heard nothing. So at 5:30 I called again. Heather just said, "Todd didn't call you? The machine broke." I asked her when they could come because our basement has now had water for 3 days and i understand that machines break so we could just call another plumber. No. Big. Deal. She assured me they would be out on Thursday. She said, "if the machine is still broken we will rent one to get the job done". Awesome. I asked her for a time slot because again my husband had to take off work. She said 1-5. I thanked her. Thursday morning I called the office to confirm. Heather assured me they were coming. GUESS WHAT?!? I got a phone call at 2 from a guy named Nick saying that he was sorry that there were no machines available and they weren't coming. ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? First of all...it's insulting that neither Heather or Todd made that call. I called the office after I hung up with Nick and it went to the voicemail. I told them (via voicemail) that I was really disappointed by the way they handled it and that my husband had lost two half-days of work because of this. I also said, "I really feel like I have to leave you a poor review on yelp". I purposely waited 5 days to write this. I wanted to give them the chance to call me and apologize. I wanted time to cool down so I could write this objectively. Not only did TMZ lose me as a customer but I am now going to make it a point to tell people this story. The customer service was and is a joke. And my basement? I called a plumber I'm joliet and he came out immediately. Seriously, he showed up within one hour. It was during the evening, and he still charged for daytime hours. I told him about the saga with TMZ plumbing for the previous two years, and after assessing the situation he decided to use a different pipe as an access point. Low and behold he was able to find the clog with the snake. That was the first time that anyone had actually located the clog. He charged us less than TMZ and even put a new trap on our basement drain. We have a new plumber to tell everyone about. It all worked out in the end. read more

I spoke to Todd and his price was VERY competitive and using the same brand and model as more expensive places. Overall I'm very pleased with the service. My wife accidentally put too much holiday food down our garbage disposal and this created a back up in our kitchen sink drain that I couldn't remedy with my 15ft snake that I had. I called around to a few plumbers in the area and Todd from TMZ got me in the same day. He had a competitive price and good service to go with it. His work is warrantied for 3 months in the event it backs up again (as long as it's not our fault). They even cleaned up the mess from the backflow on the sink. **BELOW AVERAGE EXPERIENCE **. I had the company remove a garbage disposal. I was given a time window when scheduling my appointment but never heard anything after that. I had to call to confirm they were still coming on the day of. The receptionist said they would text me when they were enroute to my house but they never did. Two workers showed up to remove a disposal. They said they thought they had part needed but didn't so they said they needed to go a store to get the parts. After 30 minutes at the store they finished the job. The job took 1 hour and 15 min including their shopping trip which I never received copies of the receipt of the items they purchased. I got charged 2 hours plus parts ($295). I called next day to get an explanation for the cost and was promised a call back but didn't get that until finally 2 calls later. I was initially told the reason was the reason I got charged for 2 hours is because 2 workers showed up (1 hr per worker). I was surprised you needed 2 workers for such a job when only one of workers was only actually working. When I initially called to schedule appointment the receptionist said that usually takes one hour and did not mention two guys would be coming for this job.I spoke with Todd who said that he would call me back after he spoke with the workers but never happened. There was probably 35 min of actual labor done and one guy working. read more

Will Never Use Them Again! I've used TMZ Plumbing before and was happy with their service, however the last time I used them was very disappointing and damaging to my property. Since I was familiar with their work I waited a few weeks for them to come look at an issue at my home, but they didn't call or come by. I got the impression they were busy so when I spoke with them I asked them if they were sure they could come fix a leaking pipe in the next few days and if not, I would call another plumber. Todd assured me they'd fix it. Took them 3 days to show up and diagnose the problem. They were supposed to come back to fix the issue the next day and never called or showed up. I called to see if they were coming and Todd assured me they were still coming and they never showed up. The lower level of my home is completely ruined due to water damage. I got another plumber but because they kept promising they'd come on a Friday, I had to wait until Monday for another plumber to begin working. This is typical of many companies. Once they get the larger jobs, they ignore the smaller loyal customers, but they should've told me from the beginning they were unavailable. read more

I've used TMZ twice this year once to install double sump pumps and again a month back to install a new water line. My problem at this point is terrible customer service. I've called several times and left messages and so have my BF and received no call back. The water line that was installed has slowed the water pressure throughout my house tremendously. Now I can't get a call back. I was extremely happy with the service I initially received when the sump pumps were installed and thought we'd found a great company.
