I have been craving boba for a while. TNL is tucked away in a shopping strip and there were phases of groups of people waiting for their order. I ordered a passion fruit ice tea with little ice, with pineapple and aloe, with 25% sweetener since I was able to adjust the sweetness. I should've taken a picture, but I got the Butterfly Thai sea cream drink (Instead of sea cream, I opted for whipped cream) omg DELICIOUS!!! I was in the area and I really wanted to try a new place and saw this drink picture which really caught my eye. And it did not disappoint! What probably made the drink even better was that I added pandan flan as the topping instead of boba (best decision ever!) It added another element to the milk tea flavor. The drink tasted like a fruit loops cereal. Every slurp had some pandan flan and it was sooo well balanced. The only strange part was that I ordered the drink with 'no ice' but the drink came out kinda hot. However, they accommodated and put ice cubes in the drink which turned out ok. Overall, I'd give this drink a 8.5 with potential 9.5/10 and I rarely give any boba drink over 8.5 so it's saying a lot! This particular drink could potentially be in my top 5 boba type drinks ever if I order it correctly next time. If I'm ever in the area, I would totally get it again but with 100% sugar (their sweetness levels are on point unlike most other places where 100% is waaaay too sweet) and I would get it much earlier in the day cuz the caffeine level is pretty strong! It's 2:30am and I'm still wired. Wooo! And I also wanted to say that as I was waiting for my order, I got to see what other people ordered and I saw very unique drinks I've never seen at a boba shop. When I arrived I was a bit surprised by so many people waiting outside. The menu offered so many options, so when I asked the staff for recommendations and they heard I was having a hard time deciding between dragonfruit and lychee, he suggested "why not combine both?" and here we go. This is by far the best boba place we've ever been around (and we went to quite a few over San Diego county). For me it's the best because you can taste they use quality ingredients, like the boba always tastes good and the tea seems always fresh. I'm a detail oriented person and I think the owners as well because I appreciate some details that makes the difference for me: they use just enough ice to have a nice iced beverage, different than other places where they fill the whole cup with so much ice that you end up with just a few sips of your drink. They also use fresh fruits even for the milk teas like the strawberry milk tea, you can taste the difference and we can tell they thought about it. I pictured the to go packing and it's also packed with care. I appreciate the attention to all these details! We've been here several times and the refreshments are good, however, they are not always consistent because they do use "fresh ingredients." That's fine in my book. Another downside is that if you go later in the day, they are out of most of their drinks and can't make them because they use "fresh ingredients." You can see my daughter got a mango boba and it looks and tastes great, however, she ate a piece of mango and spit it out. I thought that to be strange because she loves Mango and has had this before at TNL. I tried a piece of Mango and it was not edible and tasted awful. Maybe not ripe enough, not sure, but I spit it out too and threw the rest of the fruit in the trash. I went back in to tell the employee and he didn't seem to care, nor did he offer any other fruit as a replacement. I just wanted to let them know they were serving bad fruit, but they didn't seem to care, or offer anything in return. Not a huge deal, but not what I would expect from an $8+ Boba. Overall this place is good and worth a try. It's a bit of a weird setup because it seems "rushed" when you are trying to order and then you have to leave the store entry until your order is ready. The owner is really professional. He makes sure the crowd is keeping up with the new health restrictions. He is willing to offer suggestions about the menu. But be aware they will not take phone orders if the line outside is too long. What attracts me this boba place is that they only use real ingredients. No syrups. No powders. When I am working nearby, I like to treat myself here. Yes, the line can get long as the workers try their best to efficiently supply the orders, but it's not too bad of a wait. One can just catch up on emails or Yelp reviews while waiting for the order to be ready. Their drinks are worth the wait. The fruit ones that I have seen some people get truly do look like the photos-- ample, colorful serving topped with fresh fruit. Boba: so fresh and chewy! Much better than Tapioca Express that is one freeway exit over. Taro milk tea is made from real taro. So expect a milder flavor. I really enjoyed not tasting any powder in this drink. It is really rare to find a place who uses real taro in their drinks. Green Thai tea: another rarity in the boba-sphere. I them lower the sweetness for me and it was just right. I hope the owner posts a menu with an explanation of the healthy smoothies. Will definitely be returning here more times because there is a lot on the menu I'm interested in. read more

Ive been coming to this place for YEARS! I remember when we were able to sit inside pre - Covid. My family and I come every weekend like clock work. We've probably had every single menu item they have and even have tried multiple different mixes. i am a huge TARO guy and this place is PURE AUTHENTIC! no powder or concentrate like many other juice places. The boba itself is AMAZING. The honey boba they use is by far theeeeeee best I've had anywhere, and believe me i've had boba in many places in LA, SD, OC, even SF. This place was super yummy! The only thing that could have made it perfect is different ice. They use these annoying little ice chips that take over the drink and get sucked up the straw. Other than the ice, the drink was so tasty! I got a milk tea with salted cream in it and honey boba. The boba were a good consistency, soft and chewy and the salted cream was mouthwatering. There was a bit of a line but the drinks came out fast none the less. If they had different ice this would be so perfect but I'll be back to try more of their drinks.....easy on the ice though. Looked up a boba place nearby after we had lunch and TNL had decent reviews on yelp. When we arrived my sister was a bit skeptical and waited until I got my drink before ordering. I got the green Thai tea with boba and it was a bit too sweet and not enough ice. The boba was soft however consistency of it was mediocre at best. It is slimy and leaves a weird taste in your mouth. It had a weird unappealing texture as it was being consumed. Definitely not quality boba. Not only does boba need to be cooked appropriately and need to be fresh but the grading and quality makes or breaks it. The cup the tea came in although cute, not very practical. The smoothie we ended up getting for the kids was the pina colada and I enjoyed that very much. Not too sweet and good flavor topped with fresh fruit. The other smoothie we hoped to try wasn't available for us to try which was also disappointing. The service was very direct which I don't have a problem with but it did make me feel a little rushed especially it being our first time in there and aesthetically the menu was not easy to read. I know this sounds strange but also the different types of cup are strange to me. Drinks should all be consistent in the packaging and uniform. In conclusion nothing beats the boba variety in OC. read more
