Pleasant atmosphere, and great food. Small town diner feel, with laid back, yet pleasant servers. The tenderloin is reasonably sized (not overly large) and tasted fresh, and well seasoned. The cheesesteak was the same. Neither was spectacular, but both were very tasty. The fries and onion rings were also good. The honey mustard Brussels sprouts were unique and delicious. This is a local staple MC. Pretty much everything is home made with the exception of the alcohol and possibly the chips served with salsa. Menu is loaded with wholesome family type recipes that will remind you of Sundays at your mother's or Grandmothers homes. My favorites are the smothered burger, fried chicken and chicken fried chicken. Stop in when you can. read more

I loved the open faced beef sandwich. The bread seemed like homemade bread. The beef was tender, juicy and delicious. I could cut it was a fork; no knife required. The potatoes were actually real. In town in late January to experience the migrating bald eagles at Loess Bluffs. Stopped at Toad Hollow for dinner after reading Yelp reviews of local options. We had a pizza and a couple of dinner salads and we enjoyed it. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. read more

Came here after spending time at Loews Bluff Wildlife Refuge. Food was outstanding!! And Stephen our service was also excellent. All the bread is homemade. My friend and I had a burger and a Reuben a both were delicious. I am always looking for a good Reuben and this was one of the best I have ever had. Corned beef was lean and delicious. As was the burger. And we had regular fries and sweet potato and both were perfectly crisp. Don't miss this great place if you are in the area. I will be back for sure. read more

First timers. We chose it because it was halfway between Kansas City and where we live in Omaha. When we got there, it was packed evidently it was hunting season and there were snow geese hunters from all over the US meeting there. Our waitress was amazing!!! in spite of the crowd our server got our meals to us, filled our drinks and totally took the time to answer our first timer questions about the menu. We all got something different and it was delicious.. highly recommend. We will stop there again. read more

I ordered a burger & informed the waitress to cook it "medium" and it arrived burnt to a crisp. I didn't eat some of it and for $18 I was extremely disappointed. I would not recommend eating here and if you do order your burger extra rare. Others in my party also had overcooked food. We will not come back. read more

Make the drive from KC to Omaha pretty often and not a lot of non fast food places outside of St Joseph's. We found this place in a search outside Mound City. It's in the sane parking lot as the golf course. The outdoor seating is awesome/very nice. The inside is also very nice l. The pictures I posted from the men's restroom are pretty hilarious. I ordered a sausage/cheese omelet with a 1/2 side of biscuits and gravy. Sausage in both was very good,, gravy actually had flavor as most don't. Service was efficient and friendly and when I got the check, u was shocked how cheap it was. This place will definitely be a regular stop for us when traveling I-29. read more

Really nice folks and the food was FABULOUS. Had a grilled pirk tenderloin with a special sauce, subtle and complex flavors.

A great lunch. We made reservations for a party of 9, table was ready when we arrived. Bar area accommodations were not fancy, but they have a great patio outside that was beautiful. The service was a bit slow --seemed understaffed-- had to wait for drink refills and food took a while to be delivered. But it was worth the wait! I ordered the summer salad with grilled chicken- good portion and fresh flavor. Chicken was tender. Reuben sandwich had great fresh bread and good flavor with a surprising hint of curry. Onion rings were thick. Chicken bacon ranch wrap was delicious as well. Everyone in our party had different sandwiches and burgers and remarked that everything was great. read more

After a day at Loess Bluffs NWR, finding Toad Hollar was a real gift. When they say made from scratch food they mean it. We walked in the door and the food smelled great. The pork tenderloin and mashed potatoes were quite delicious. We also had a Rueben which was yummy. Also they offer smaller portion sizes. Genius. Great place. Will absolutely go back. read more

Great food, great service, and great atmosphere! Staff is awesome, very little wait to get your food and it's hot when served.

We are traveling with a dog, so outside dining is a must. The back patio was spacious and comfortable with two large pergolas. The food was excellent, hot and fresh tasting the homemade ranch dressing was tangy and refreshing. It's a bit of a winding trip off the main highway, but well worth it for a relaxing meal with a nice walking area for our dog. read more

Great find. Great food. They make everything from scratch, including baking their own bread. My wife had a chicken breast and brussels sprouts was fantastic I had a Philly cheesesteak sandwich. Tucked away near the golf course, swimming pool and a neighborhood in Mound City, MO is this quaint restaurant and gift shop. The food was real and very good and the service was quick and friendly. It also houses a duck hunters museum. Definitely worth the stop!! read more

The place is nice inside and the back has a nice outdoor set up. We have been here twice. Food was ok, but the service of the wait staff needs a lot of work. Seems like if there is a decent amount of people there, your server will ignore your need for a refill of your drinks. This has happened both times. Yesterday for breakfast, the waitress that wasn't ours walked pass our table four times without asking if I needed a refill or even came close to making eye contact. You would have thought she would have told our waitress that we needed drinks at our table. read more

Overall, very good food, but pass on the Asian specials on Tuesday nights. The shrimp stir fry over lo mein noodles was bad. The lo mein was some type of thick egg noodle and the shrimp, which should have been raw before adding to the stir fry, were boiled shrimp like you'd get in a shrimp cocktail. read more
