To Catherine L who gave Toast a 1 star review - it is unbelievable how horrible and rude people can be to those in the service industry. We work long hours on our feet - when it is 90 degrees outside our kitchen is 100+ degrees while they prepare your food. Our servers and bartenders hustle and juggle to remember every special request of guests and sometimes we are short staffed, sometimes we are on hour 50 of the week and we are tired, perhaps we have been dealing with difficult customers like yourself all day and just fed up. We are human and OMG can you believe it - we make mistakes ! Is patience and common courtesy too much to ask? Maybe some kindness when you have a bad experience or want to give feedback. The hospitality business is about hosting and enjoying time with our customers - you are in our home where we spend 10+ hours a day- if someone came into your home and was rude would you ask them to leave? Perhaps next time you go out for food, drinks, shop at a retail store or deal with anyone providing you a service you will think about the other person and not be so nasty. Jessica and her staff have been a wonderful part of the community since taking over the business. Based on your attitude she and her staff are better off if you went somewhere else - sadly that means another industry person will have a bad day serving you and your unreasonable expectations. Many of you know that there are limited places for breakfast on the south shore around Cohasset, Hingham and Scituate. I tried Toast one day early on in the pandemic and I've become a regular customer of theirs. Convenience, quality of food and staff are always what I look for. I've read a few of these negative reviews and I can't believe that they were written in the first place. New Ownership took over in 2019 and righted this ship. The team at Toast has gone above and beyond any of my expectations. The food is always amazing and the staff themselves are very nice people. I urge you to try them for yourselves. Will there be a wait? probably because it's a small place, however it's totally worth the wait the food is that good. If you don't want to wait, order out like I do. Call ahead and my order is always takes about 25 mins but is ready when I arrive. If your unfamiliar with the area it's across the st from Nantastic beach and if anyone has been there while it's a hot day in Massachusetts knows that beach gets crowded quickly. Support local restaurants. The restaurant industry barely survived with the pandemic, however when deciding to give a review think of the end results. Enjoy your experience. Just a great place for breakfast. I go there all the time. It's just a well run place, bright, cheery, clean restaurant with a fabulous menu. There is a sign somewhere in this restaurant... something about this not being your place if you're in a hurry. Indeed, be prepared to wait to be seated if you've come when it's busy, and likewise to receive you food. Their kitchen is on the small side when it comes to professional grade kitchens. I had ordered a short stack of pancakes with some pecans sprinkled on top, and some coffee. Pancakes were surprisingly good! At home, mom always made something which has no translation, I think the closest approximation is Blini, or Fritters, though neither word explain it perfectly. They are suite hairy though... with my only pancake experience being IHOP and Bisquick. These things had just the nicest, "crust" griddled to absolute perfection, as thin as a hair. Inside was lovely too, not overly sweet and just the right consistency. Size was right on, not tiny, but not as big as a football field either. Of course, I also got a side of bacon... because bacon! The coffee was solid, and the service was polite! So, why then only four stars? Two reasons: 1. Though I realize this isn't a place meant to be speedy, I did find the wait to be rather lengthy. 2. Though the pancakes, coffee, and bacon were reasonably priced, the pecans were quite steep for what I got. A quarter handful of them sprinkled on top cost considerably more than I was expecting. Don't get me wrong, I love pecans and an extra buck or two isn't the biggest deal, but the value for this topping is less than stellar. read more

Very rude employees , we wanted to sit near the window or near the bar and we were told no they are for a bigger group but there was other people with only two people and they were sitting in booths. Terrible attitude from the top down. The owner was rude and aggressive when we asked a wait staff how long the food would be after a 35 minute wait after ordering. We happily waited a half hour to be seated. The food is fine, but poorly managed kitchen. I would never return and have shared our experience w/friends and family. There are great places you go to because the food is fantastic, and there are places you go because the setting is incredible, and sometimes you find a place where the people who work there make it special and worth the trip. Toast is the rare place that is all three and a lot more. Since the new owner took over, the heart and soul of Toast has grown. Jess has taken a good place and made it truly great. A revised menu has given way to something that never happened to me over the years of going there: having difficulty when choosing what to have. I'm still a fan of the world class hash browns and home fries, but the avocado toast has taken me by storm. Try a flavored latte ( they cycle through seasonal flavors), or one of their many brunch cocktails. And if you find yourself there with a crowd waiting to get in, put your name on the list and force yourself to breath in the ocean air and enjoy the view of Nantasket Beach. read more

I was in the restaurant when Catherine L. was there and I just want to say shame on you, Catherine! Your behavior and the scene that you caused in the restaurant was uncalled for. Yes, the restaurant was busy, a testament to the incredible food and local family friendly atmosphere that the owner and her staff have created. I didn't not find the wait for food to be unreasonable! But your behavior, Catherine, was. For me it was another typical Sunday at Toast, delicious food served up with a smile! Yes, there are complaints about the quirkinesses of the owner/staff, weird rules, etc., but our waitress was FANTASTIC! And the food just wonderful. So who cares if we can't be on our phone; we're there to eat anyway! (**we really thought we couldn't be on our phone and had a good laugh with the waitress about it. What a great addition to Hull! I went to Toast today and had a 5 star breakfast. This was my first time coming here, and I will be back! To begin, the restaurant has a cool vibe to it. I went with my mother and we chatted. This is the perfect restaurant to bring old friends to to reconnect or a new date. The decorations are unique and nostalgic. The server I had was a very nice guy and took our orders quickly. I ordered the Eggs Benedict and I split a piece of Firecracker French toast with my mom. The Eggs Benedict was absolutely perfect. Cute little diner across from the ocean. Stopped by here before we went on to spend the day at Nantasket beach. I had the cinnamon roll French toast which was delicious and obviously got pretty sweet by the end. I also had a side of stringy hash-browns. Yum! They left a small amount for us to refill our own glasses which was awesome, but they were also always there to refill from the pot. Excellent service!
