Upon entering the establishment, I informed the hostess of the situation, and one of the three hostesses present responded that they do not utilize the Yelp waitlist, which seems illogical given that they offer this service through Yelp. Subsequently, I was informed that I would have to wait an additional hour to an hour and half to be seated. It's kinda crazy how so many places are fully booked for a Sunday lunch in orange county. After unsuccessfully calling multiple places, this was the only place that had availabilities for lunch. On the weekends, they don't really have a lunch menu, its more of a breakfast all day kind of thing. This place is huge!!! Has the ability to sit several hundred people at any given time. I ordered their lobster Benedict as well as a strawberry margarita. Lobster Benedict dish comes on 2 toasted peices of bread. Large peices of lobster, cooked well. Eggs on top of them were amazingly cooked. The yolk comes running out when you puncture the egg. The hollandaise sauce was very good as well. Had sort of a butter sauce on it too. It all worked really well together. Tasted good without being overly salty. The visual presentation too was stunning. The colors just popped. The yellow was a striking bright yellow. It almost looked to good to eat. You also have several options of side dishes. I got their potato fries. They were actually cooked really well. Thin enough to be crunchy, but not burnt. But large enough to have some substance. Strawberry margarita was ok. Not as sweet as I would've liked it to be. They were also really light on the alcohol as well. The food came out quickly. So did the drinks. Portion size here is quite generous. The amount of food my associates got was just bountiful. Left us feeling full after we left. Only knock on this place is that they forgot to get us the utensils on several occasions. Had to ask for them like 5 different times from like 3 different people. Our food and drinks came out sooner than our utensils!! But that's a slight oversight. Overall food was good. Large portions made up for any reservations of whether or not you're going to leave feeling full. But if you're looking for a lunch or dinner place this definitely isn't it. You can tell it used to be an older restaurant that they spruced up. It has cute vibes and a menu full of options. The service was efficient and on top of it. Had brunch (party of 9}~ food was good, Mexican mocha was outstanding. A bit pricey- $22 for avocado toast. What really rubbed me wrong was service slow- sat there at least 15 minutes before waiter came to table..started at other side of table then left bringing only water for everyone awhile later then another 10-15 minutes before orders incl drink orders taken (Took about 15 minutes more to get the mocha)... but then the manager had the audacity to come over (twice) to table after bill just paid wanting us to vacate the table. The sauce was pretty much only on the egg and steak, sitting on top of dry English muffins. The menu says the steak is prepared cooked medium, but one was medium and the other well done. My fiancé got the country fried steak, which was probably the best out of everything we ordered. And also the hash brown chips! So yummy! We also ordered the maple bacon waffle. Lastly, my chaser Bloody Mary was a little light on the alcohol, and there was no celery, although having a thick cut bacon strip as the stirring stick did make it better. There was a little cart outside in the waiting area with mimosas you could purchase--a nice touch for those waiting in the summer heat. I made a reservation to have brunch on a Sunday morning at 11:15 AM. The parking lot was jam packed and the nearby construction made it even harder to navigate around. Upon arrival, there was a line out the door. We were told that even with reservations, we had to wait in line to get checked in. The hostess told us it would take "a few minutes" before we would be seated. Unfortunately, these few minutes were more like 30 minutes. It's a little disappointing to make a reservation and still have to wait half an hour for a table. When we were finally seated, my significant other ordered a whiskey sour and I got a glass of guava mimosa. The waitress came back with a whole bottle of champagne and a small pint of guava juice. I politely let her know that I only ordered a glass and she told me, "I thought you ordered a bottle!" Anyways, after adding her commentary, she came back with a glass of guava mimosa. We ordered our food shortly after. We got the eggs Benedict with a side of Caesar salad and the chimichurri steak breakfast with hash brown chips and sausage. Our food arrived within 20 minutes. However, we did not have any silverware or condiments. As the restaurant was busy, I patiently rose my hand to get the waitress' attention so she knew we needed assistance. She locked eyes, but ignored us for a good few minutes. When she finally walked over, I requested for silverware and the condiments. She immediately scolded at me and exclaimed, "It's very busy and I have OTHER customers. I am your ONLY server so you have to be patient!! Would you like to talk to my manager?" First off, I patiently rose my hand to let her know we had a request and never once rushed her. Isn't that what you do at restaurants when you need something? It's common practice. She continued to say that because the restaurant was so busy they only had "limited silverware" so she would have to go to the back to get clean silverware if there were any. Hearing that was absurd!!! Before I could even remind her about the ketchup and maple syrup, she rudely walked off. She came back with silverware 10 minutes later and rudely asked if we needed anything else. This type of behavior really got me upset because the waiters and waitresses within a restaurant are the faces of the restaurant. If they treat customers poorly, this will obviously have a negative impact to their customer flow. Customers are NOT going to return. Second, even if she had a one-off day or it was busy, she could politely let us know she's busy and she would attend to us soon. Who even asks if you want to talk to their manager? At that point she must have had a lot of complaints if she's already deferring to her manager. I definitely did not need the extra attitude with my meal. Eggs Benedict were good at a 4/5, but the chimichurri steak breakfast was 3/5. Where was the chimichurri?!!? Steak was ordered as medium rare and it came out over cooked. The hash brown chips were an interesting add on. The sausage was cold. Fortunately I saw the manager helping out around the restaurant and talked to him. I told him about my experience and provided my feedback. He was very open and apologetic. He asked if we wanted the remaining food to go and I told him we were good. He asked us to hang tight while he printed our bill. In the meantime, I didn't bother asking for the check from the waitress. She came around and asked if we needed anything in a condescending manner. Very rude. Anyways, the manager came back and told us he took care of our bill. He also mentioned he would follow up with the waitress. I was grateful I got to talk to him because I left the restaurant feeling a tad bit better. We will most likely not be returning. Special thanks to the manager for making sure we felt welcomed and for taking in feedback to improve the staff/service. Trust me, as a foodie, I have appreciation for busy restaurants because that means they have quality food and returning customers. I acknowledge there may be wait times, but the negative vibes and attitudes are a big no. I've been to Toast in Costa Mesa and really enjoyed it so I had high hopes when I came here. Though it has the same name the menu was totally different, so guessing they aren't a chain? I came with a group of 5 and this place is big with a lot of open seating which was great for social distancing. We ordered two different Benedict's, stuffed berry French toast, guacamole and chips, the goat cheese crostini and carrot cake (we were hungry clearly). The best thing was the crostini, really flavorful. The Benedict's were under seasoned but my eggs were cooked perfectly which was a win for me. The guac though was a total let down as it was literally just mashed avocado. The French toast and carrot cake weren't anything special. Dylan has opened with a bang at the old Claim Jumper location. It just goes to show there is always room for a good place for breakfast. And the breakfast here is top notch. We've been here 4 times. The 1st was within a few days of their opening and things weren't hitting on all cylinders and the food took a long time. In a few weeks everything was humming along. We were all very pleasantly surprised how quickly the food was served today. Despite a busy morning, we got our food in about 10 minutes. Everything about my breakfast today was just the way I like it. The huge pancake was everything I love about pancakes. The edges were a little crispy and the inside was light and airy. It reminded me of a crumpet. It was so delicious. My eggs over medium was cooked perfectly and with enough heat so that the egg whites are browned on the surface and a little crisped. And the bacon was not too thin and had a smokey flavor. The service at Dylan's is the most impressive. They are friendly, knowledgeable, patient and attentive. On our first visit, I lost count of how many times our server came and apologized. The owner even stopped by. They made us felt valued which goes a long way to offset the long wait. The food was good but the service from a specific host in the front was not. There was a misunderstanding about checking in AFTER joining the Yelp which is fine. What wasn't fine is how we were talked to by the specific host. She was speaking to us in a demeaning, belittling, and just flat out rude tone. We were confused because we checked in on Yelp and she kept saying "did you check in? Did you check in with us though" before I can even answer her. If she just said it in a nicer tone then we would have no issue but I had 2 interactions with her and each interaction was just so rude.
