My coworkers and I recently enjoyed lunch at Toasted La Mesa on a Tuesday afternoon. We made reservations, but they weren't busy when we arrived, so they really weren't needed. We did, however, inquire about weekend reservations and they do not offer them, so if you're stopping by on the weekend, prepare for a wait. We sat on their outside covered patio, but they do have a large interior dining room and a spacious bar. We ordered a variety of things that were all yummy and our server, Olivia, gave us great recommendations and super friendly service. What we ordered: - ABC Hash - Turkey Wrap - Smoked Brisket Melt - Cali Benny - Hammerhead - Caffe Latte We had a great time and can't wait to come back to try more menu items!

Walked into this cutesy brunch spot right around mid morning during a weekday. No wait and sat right away. Oddly enough, we only saw our waiter a handful of times, and even after getting our food he hurried away so we had to wave him down to let them know one of the orders was wrong. Downfall to middle of the week brunch, less waiters? Not sure but not impressed with service. Veggie has and French toast were pretty but 3/5 for taste. Decent taste , did not care for the frisée adds absolutely nothing to this dish and neither did the passion fruit caramel for the French toast. It was agreed that it added an odd sour taste to the dish but not in a good way. The iced latte and mocha were somewhat bland. Again, cute place with nice atmosphere but food nor service was impressive.

What a gem! We stumbled upon this and so glad we did. About mid morning on a Saturday, my party of 4 was immediately sat. Service was decent and the crowd was pretty large. This restaurant is full of vibes. It's cozy, clean, and welcoming. We ordered the red velvet pancakes, chilaquiles, and kids chocolate chip pancakes. All phenom! I'll be back Mother's Day weekend as my choice location. Glad to add this in the rotation!! Plenty of parking, right off the trolley. Clean restrooms.

The placement of seats is interesting as there is an inside patio and then an indoor eating area. There is an open kitchen so you can see what the chefs are doing along with a bar. The server was attentive and was prompt in taking my drink and food order. I loved seeing the green plants and the fact there were no TVs. The dish I tried was the Sammy sandwich, which was a first for me and garlic potatoes. Both were amazing and I look forward to going back again.

Easter Sunday was a delightful breakfast with delicious coffee and chai latte. We enjoyed French toast, stuffed French toast both with delicious sausage and Bacon Bennie. Layered with bacon, asparagus, nicely poached eggs covered in hollandaise with a balsamic drizzle. Restaurant was airy and pleasant with comfortable seats. Great attentive servers Nom,nom, nom, nom, nom! That's is 5 noms!

First time here and would definitely return. Crispy chicken and pancakes 3/5 Pancakes were a little dry and the chicken was a little dry as well but not too bad. Chilaquiles 4/5 Lots of flavor, great portion, lacked a little meat but overall would order again Denver-ish Scramble 3/5 Best part was the round potatoes, so tasty and good. Lacked flavor, didn't have much flavor. The toast was decent. Our waiter provided great service and was very welcoming. Lots of seating as well, loved how nice the place was and will definitely return!

We did a walk-in on a Sunday morning and got seated almost immediately. Food was delicious!!! Be prepared for an abundance amount of food here because it is generous in portions. The price of each plate does meet up to the generous portion. I ordered the avocado toast along with the shrimp and grits and I ended up having to take them home. I'm a big fan of shrimp and grits so this one for me is a bit more creamier than usual and as I am lactose, it didn't sit too well with me. Overall was good, but I would have liked to taste more of the grits itself. It also had sausages in it. The mocha and mimosa were also amazing. The decors were beautiful inside and out with a little bit of 1950s vibes with nice floral with indoor and outdoor seating for your furry friends. Our waitress was so warm and nice and brought everything we needed. Highly recommend.

    The Breakfast Quesadilla

Toasted is a cute brunch venue with lots of outdoor and indoor seating. However, the food was unimpressive and not memorable. The passion fruit iced tea was bland, and the grilled cheese was so crispy it was tough on the mouth. The pancakes were tasty and hit the spot, but I much preferred them with maple syrup rather than the spicy breakfast syrup it was served with. This also led the dish to be less cohesive, which is on me, but it did feel like hot chicken tenders and, separately, pancakes. The breakfast quesadilla was stuffed full of breakfast items and filling, though nothing to write home about. Toasted is filling a need for cute brunch spots in this area, but there are plenty other brunch spots in San Diego with food that we found more worthwhile.

My very first time trying any toast and it was amazing. The lobster toast had so many flavors going on I could not stop eating it. I've seen many toasts on many menus trying the smoked salmon and lobster opened a new window for me. Don't get me started on the breakfast quesadilla. This thing was fantastic and huge. The meat mixed with egg had so much flavor. I loved the way it came with pico and guacamole. It's big enough to share. Lastly the red velvet pancake was the perfect end to our meal. This whole meal was a treat. I enjoyed our service from the minute we got our drinks. The restraunt itself is beautiful so trendy the booths are nice and cozy with plenty of room. Can't wait to come back and try Sunday brunch with some girlfriends. Espresso martini's here we come.

Toasted located in La Mesa in a shopping center but, hidden from street view. It is located across from Frazier Farms towards the back side of street view. They offer indoor and outdoor seating and parking can be challenging. Ambiance is nice with great customer service! We ordered: Short Rib Benny - AMAZING and a MUST ORDER! Elvis French Toast - I was not a fan of the combination of flavors. They offer a wide variety of dishes to choose from and we will definitely be back!

I had a nice lunch at Toasted La Mesa with a few friends. When we arrived it took a while for a staff to come and greet us and seat us. There wasn't anyone else waiting to be sat. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very open. I ordered the BLT sandwich and shared the Balsamic Grilled Chicken salad. The sandwich was good. It was served on brioche bread. The salad had too much dressing which made it a bit soggy. Next time I'll try to chopped salad it looked very good. Our waiter Eric was pleasant. Service was a bit slow. I would try this place again.

HYPES: this place is modern & beautiful! the hostess was attentive & pleasant. the menu was large and had something both my husband and i would love. i got the bbq short ribs and it was SCRUMPTIOUS! i loved every bite! even a day old as i also ate this for dinner the next day. :) GRIPES: none :) except maybe if it were up to me, i would have liked the coffee to be free or cheaper as it didnt add much to my meal at all. but loved the food!

We went on a Saturday morning around 9 am & was seated right away! The service was amazing & I believe the owner served us because he was so nice and sweet. He went over the menu thoroughly and was very helpful. The brisket hash was sooo good and melt in my mouth. 10/10 would come back!! There's a parking lot right out front & it's in a nice and quiet area. Be sure to check out Frazier farms next door :)

The problem came at the end of our meal when we were ready to leave and waiting for the check. We waited an unusually long time while several tables around us, including guests who were seated after us, received their checks before we did. What was even more concerning was observing the server eating while standing behind the bar, then handling ice and items going into customers' drinks without washing her hands. This raised serious concerns about food safety and hygiene. The place is a cool vibe and always has the game on, but service and quality of food is not the highest.

So we got back a second time and sit down to order, "Chicken and waffles please" - they are out of chicken. Oof! Strike 1. That sucks. They are out of waffles. Oof! Strike 2! And isn't it just batter? I don't get it. We didn't stay that time because my daughter was visibly sad this time. So I think we are done trying or else this just becomes a running gag we try to get out of, like Groundhogs Day or something... Atmosphere: It's cozy inside. I love all of the details, like the wood carvings and all of the bear stuff. It's like you're in a log cabin. Price: It's no more expensive than say, Dennys or Ihop. Middle of the road and they have lots of options. A decent meal for two - 50$. Service: Each time we have been, the servers have been great. Nice servers and even when the guy had to tell us they were out of chicken, he was super apologetic. No complaints on the service. Overall: It's a nice place... when they have the advertised food. So I honestly don't know if we will be back or not. Maybe we will give it a shot but I don't want my daughter to be disappointed again.
