They've got variety of juices and smoothies which they update daily with ingredients ranging from pineapples, cucumbers, and watermelon to kale and charcoal. On this occasion I tried out an orange crush which combines the favors of orange, mango, lime, agave, and almond milk. Proved to be a good choice, really good smoothie great consistency and flavor combination yet not too heavy on the stomach. The drinks are reasonably priced I paid about $8 for their smaller sized smoothie. In addition they also have a variety of gourmet toast options to pair with your drinks so I'll definitely be revisiting to try some of those out as well. read more

After the meal, you do not feel heavy at all since everything was made to order and nothing was fried to make you feel heavy. It felt more like a Sunday Brunch than other places that advertise as Sunday Brunch - I hope you get what I mean. I do wish they had more seating because it was always packed. It is quite hard to eat either a toast/open faced sandwich standing or walking around so the best option is to actually sit down and eat it with a fork or knife. Five stars!! I went to Toastique this past weekend for the first time and I wish I had gone months ago! The place is fairly small and located at the Wharf (boo for parking prices). They serve several different kinds of fancy toast, smoothie bowls, and smoothies. My friends and I ordered a couple different toasts. I had the 3 cheese and prosciutto (plus I added burrata to it) and it was mouth watering. The bread was a was perfectly toasted so it didn't fall apart with all the toppings and still remained crispy. My mom and sister had the tomato and burrata which they thoroughly enjoyed. The other toasts were the avocado and salmon. The avocado toast was piled high with an avocado spread which was super delicious. However, my friends both agreed that the salmon toast was by far the best. I also ordered orange crush smoothie and it was great! Super fresh. Definitely order the 24 Oz smoothie for an additional $2. My friends tried a smoothie bowl and hey liked it. They just thought it would be a thicker consistency similar to South Block. Naturally I'm heading to this place like the last thing I want to eat for breakfast is avocado on toast. Don't get me wrong, I love guacamole, but avocado kinda gives me the heebie-jeebies. Food deets: I ordered the Smoked Salmon Toast and a Small Superfruit Smoothie. The sourdough toast was thick and soft. Perfect texture! The cream cheese had amazing herbed flavor. Their "Pastrami Salmon" is encrusted in a wonderful spice blend and the texture of the salmon is a bit firmer than most I've had, which I appreciated. The richness of the salmon and cream cheese are balanced out by the fresh sliced cucumber and micro greens. You're also treated to the wonderful brininess of the capers; and, I must say, that I despise onions. This toast was topped with pickled onions that were out of this world good! I was eating them alone, if that puts their level of deliciousness into perspective. The Superfuit Smoothie was fruity, cold, and delicious, no complaints there. The presentation was outstanding. The staff was very friendly, all smiles on a dreary Monday morning. If you're a coffee drinker, they have self-serve coffee for two bucks; and, per the sign, you don't have to wait in the food line. There was a hint of the ginger taste, yet it blended well with the berries in the smoothie. As weird as it sounds, the thiccness of the smoothie was perfect, as there wasn't any trouble slurping any of it with my straw. Best smoothie I've had in DC. They made them to order and my order was ready pretty quickly. While I waited, even though a short time, there was self serve cold water available to me and it looks so refreshing. The spot is right in the action at the Wharf (street side) and has a handful of tables to sit and eat at. It's like that sick urge to look down when you're at the top of the stairs knowing you're scared of heights. The 16oz iced brew smoothie, after tax and tip, costs $10! Jamba Juice, which I already find overpriced and overhyped, sells essentially the same thing for $6. The fancy toasts ordered by some of the lunch time patrons when I was there looked nice and all, but I just couldn't throw down another $20 for a slice of bread with vegetables and cheese (proteins cost extra). I understand what Toastique is aiming for, and the products are good. It also obviously has a very targeted market that is unfortunately not me. High quality fancy toast in DC. Ordered through a delivery service and everything was packaged beautifully on parchment within a beautiful plastic container. Also supplied sustainable utensils. We tried the salmon toast and peanut butter toast. The salmon was extremely fresh and generous, and had micro greens, a chive spread, pickled onions, and capers. Added on sliced hard boiled egg which was a nice balance. The PB had a fresh jelly, peanut butter, chocolate drizzle, roasted peanuts, and generous amount of fresh fruit (bananas, strawberries and blueberries). Even though the photos make the toast seem small, they were very generous in size and fullness. We could have easily split the PB toast between two people for a normal size breakfast. I think this place is best for bowls, so get that rather than toast or smoothie here! - OG Acai bowl - best so far, delicious and refreshing. It came heaping with tons of fresh fruits, all of which were in excellent balance with each other. I appreciated the cacao nibs, which added a heart-warming chocolate touch to the cold smoothie bowl. - PB + B acai bowl - enjoyed this one a lot too. The PB adds a very satiating feel to the bowl, which, you know, can taste really light, fruity, and SO healthy that it doesn't feel quite filling enough lol). - Dragonberry bowl - rather too light for me, so it didn't feel very satiating. Not a fan of pitaya, I guess. Or the combo of it with coconut water. I am not a fan of coconut water, and I could taste it more strongly in this bowl. - Black majik - pretty good (though there's still the coconut water! But it's not as noticeable as in the Dragonberry bowl), though I'll admit the activated charcoal made the color of the bowl a very interesting black color, which looked kinda suspicious... I looked up whether it was healthy to eat activated charcoal; in small amounts, it's okay, but while it may absorb toxins in your body, it can also absorb good nutrients (and there's no scientifically proven evidence that activated charcoal is beneficial), so just don't make it a habit to eat activated charcoal all the time. Smoked salmon toast was very good, not perfect, but the salmon portion was pretty generous, IMO. I also tried Blue Majik smoothie. It was quite interesting; it's not something I'd get again, but that's just because there are other and better smoothies (don't get me wrong, it didn't taste bad at all. It was still a good one-time experience). Very clean, modern, well-lit space. The ambience is nature-like (and reminiscent of California, maybe LA) with brown wooden chairs/furniture, white tabletops that look a bit like sand (or porous stones), and green ferns, trees, and paintings on the wall. read more
