This place was super cute and packed when we stopped by on Sunday for brunch! After browsing, I went with the Chicken sandwich and decided to try the Strawberry citrus cruffin along with a chai. The food came out pretty quickly and overall was impressed! The baguette bread on the sandwich was nicely toasted and came with a good amount of chicken. The cruffin was quite good and had a good amount of strawberry jam in there and loved the tartness so it balanced out the sweetness. The chai was also good and nothing remarkable but loved that it wasn't overly sweet. The staff were super friendly and loved the overall atmosphere of the place! Overall would recommend if you are close for either picking something up to go or dining in!
I came here twice on a short visit to DC. The chocolate chip cookies with nuts are really moist with a lot of chocolate! Almond croissant was really buttery inside and crispy on the outside. My latte was the best that I have had in a long time. The decor inside this restaurant is beautiful.
Love the ambiance inside with the plant greenery garden scene! It was busy but the food and drinks came out quickly. Service was great. The steak sandwich was so yummy, all the flavors and texture was on point!

4/5 only because the pistachio crossiant was a bit too sweet and a little soggy, which is understandable because of the cream but have had a bit crispier elsewhere. 5/5 for the breakfast sandwich which has this candied bacon that made me nostaglic of Asian jerky. Lavender honey latte was perfect not too sweet, could still taste the coffee.
I have heard good things about this place in NY but never got to go. So i saw this on my walk on a weekend trip to DC, i had to stop in. Got their signature latte with oat milk and it was so delicious.it was creamy and not too sweet. I wanted to try the tahini latte but did not feel adventurous enough. Our barista Sophie was a sweetheart because she also gave us a cookie on the house. The chocolate chip cookie was delicious with the coffee. I can't believe i waited this long to try it. The place is also nice to come and sit and get work done or chat with friends. Plenty of seating but i can tell they get busy.
Their aesthetic is adorable! From the coffee cups to the decor, it's all so charming. It felt a bit cramped inside, though, since the tables were pretty close together. I enjoyed the maman breakfast sandwich - the avocado was creamy and the brioche bun was soft, however the candied bacon's sweetness was a tad overpowering (and I have a sweet tooth). The service wasn't the friendliest, especially when I asked a polite question. Still, I would come back to try their yummy looking pastries!
Came here for a cookie, croissant, and a macchiato. The macchiato was pulled perfectly and had delicious flavor. The cookie was delicious, not too sweet, and the croissant was better than most other coffee shops. A great competitor to Tatte, I would definitely come back.

I ordered a Honey Lavender Iced Matcha, my husband ordered the Regular Iced Matcha. For food we good a few gluten free goodies like the Vegan Zucchini Bread and Raspberry bar. The gluten free options come from another bakery but they are still super fresh. Their in house pastries looked so delicious and amI bet they were, but being gluten free myself I chose those options. Big place, on a main street so only street parking or coming in walking. Service was excellent and super fast. Definitely a place to come back and try some other goodies!
I love the variety of options on their menu! I stopped by for a very quick treat. The service was great & I loved the coffee! Can't wait to come back, sit down & give this place another try. I ordered: Sesame Tahini Latte w oatmilk -- 8/10 Vegan Zucchini -- 5/10 not that great, you could definitely make a better version at home. It was also really small & not worth the price. I should have gotten a different vegan treat.
This is a LOVELY place for coffee, tea, and baked goods that I honestly almost passed up because of the crowd, but I am so happy I didn't. I was able to order quickly at the counter and find a wonderful window seat to enjoy my tea and Signature Martha Stewart cake. It was all divine. I would absolutely recommend stopping in for a treat when in downtown DC.
This maman location is cute and nice to sit inside to work or chill or socialize. The cookies I got including the oatmeal and the sandwich cookie were so yummy too. Service is good as well.
I was in DC for the weekend and had heard great things about maman! My boyfriend picked up pastries, so my review is solely based on the taste and presentation. I do think their cafes are cute, though. The pastries were not good. I always thought maman was an upscale pastry experience, but now I see they were parading as that while offering stale, cold, and bland foods. The martha stewart potato tart had a sour herbaceous taste to it. The croissant was stale and didn't have buttery, crisp layers I was expecting. The scone was the best pastry, but still not impressive. I would return for their coffee, but certainly will not order any food again.
My motto is whenever possible, stop at a maman and you will not be disappointed! Thankfully this location keeps me in that direction. Ordered a honey lavender iced matcha, a cookie, and a chicken sandwich that did not make the photos because I was too hungry. Staff was friendly, it was clean and looking at that case of baked goods is enough to make anyone want to come back for more. The decor and setup is very nice and the perfect place to hang with a friend and catch up or grab a bite before work. read more
We stopped here for breakfast while we were in the area. It was around 9am on a Thursday and the place was packed with a line to the door. You order your food, get a number and they bring the food to you. The food was ok. I ordered the overnight oats. They just didn't have much flavor. I also ordered a hot chai tea latte. It was good but had too much froth on the top for my liking. I didn't get much of the chai flavor as I was drinking it. My husband ordered a breakfast sandwich. He also said it did not have much flavor. read more
The space is the first thing you notice--high ceilings, lots of greenery, and blue-and-white china throughout. It's bright and comfortable, with a small retail section near the communal table. Gets busy but stays manageable. The avocado smoked salmon tartine was the standout. Seeded sourdough with smashed avocado, smoked salmon, pickled red onion, cherry tomatoes, striped chioggia beets, dill, parsley, and pumpkin seeds. They bring extra salmon on the side, which I appreciated. Fresh and well put together. The candied bacon was thick and smoky with a good caramelized edge--a nice savory-sweet contrast to the tartine. Cold brew was smooth and not bitter. Did the job on a warm day. One note: the line builds at peak times, so come early if you want a relaxed table. Otherwise a well-executed brunch I'd happily repeat. read more

Went to get coffee in the afternoon around one thirtyish with a friend continues to be super packed and loud, especially on a cherry blossom week with lots of tourists lots of families and lots of office workers packed into the space. The one thing about this location is that the busing service leaves a little bit to be desired. The table chairs are often left with crumbs and are not wiped down thoroughly for the next guest. I understand it gets busy but when I watch, they often quickly just swipe a few things off the table and don't pay much attention to actually making the place clean and neat read more
What a cute place! Maman is charming. It's part upscale Starbucks, part bakery, part Harrod's tea time. It's located across the street from Carnegie Library, The fresh dishes are wonderful. I had the grilled cheese. It is delicious and not oily. My friend had quiche & a salad. You can serve yourself a bottle of water to save trips to the filling station. After you order, an employee brings food to the table. This location gets crowded. Visit early. read more
Went here for brunch after a morning at the Shakespeare Theatre and was not disappointed. Maman's offerings are unfailingly fresh, fragrant, and delicious. Additionally, their coffee is GOOD - strong, not bitter and aromatic. I almost always have Maman's breakfast sandwich because it has everything- egg, bacon, avocado and a lovely soft brioche bun. My son had the steak sandwich which has a very tasty chimmichurri sauce on it and my husband had the ratatouille which he says was good but would be better with some bacon or sausage (disclaimer: he always thinks meatless dishes would be better with meat!) We also had a pear cardamom turnover which was absolutely divine! Sugar encrusted flaky deliciousness! So good I forgot to take a picture of it. The restaurant was extremely packed so we had to hover as another group was getting up to leave - that's my one complaint with Maman- the "will we find a table" stress!! The cashier was pleasant and efficient, as were the busboys in clearing the table after our successful hovering endeavors!! As to be expected, it's noisy when it's full, but the restaurant is full of light and so charmingly decorated that I didn't mind the decibel levels. read more

Mamannn why can't you be in California? We would love such an aesthetic, regal cafe like this!! All of the baked goods are laid out in front of you, looking incredibly appetizing. The interior of the cafe is gorgeous, I could see myself spending from open to close of the cafe immersed in a book. I went to Maman two days in a row over my trip in DC just for their baked goods and the lavender hot chocolate. The hot chocolate is fragrant, with a lavender aftertaste. It's rich and creamy, a perfect sweet treat during the snow season in DC. My boyfriend and I ordered two treats, the cranberry croissant and the chocolate pie. Both absolutely annihilated in our stomachs in couple of minutes. The croissant was buttery and flaky, balanced by the tartness of the cranberry. Despite all the baked goods sitting out, it retained its freshness. The chocolate pie was similar to a whoopie pie, but rather than marshmallow, it's a sweet vanilla bean fluff that is addicting! The exterior was crunchy on the outside and soft the deeper you bite into it. read more
I really like this location of Maman. Really pleasant and nice atmosphere in the back room. I like their festive feeling plates etc. I really enjoyed their vegan sesame- chocolate cookies for a dessert in Gallery Pl-Chinatown area. I also liked their vegan pumpkin spice carrot cake topped with pumpkin seeds for breakfast. It's counter service and the staff members were nice. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! Maman has a lot to like, except for the crowds. At 11:30 on Thursday morning, the place was packed. There's a window shelf of pastries and fine desserts, all counter service which I appreciate. I had trouble finding a seat and awkwardly went around looking. Finally one opened which I snagged. The Avocado Tartine is a solid 7/10. It is beautiful to look at but reminds me of an uncle who does too much at a party. Pickled onions, halved tomatoes, sea salt, pepitas, and chili flakes are on the side with colorful radishes on top. Plainly eaten, it tastes boring but with all the fixings it takes on much more flavor. Just takes a while to perfect the ratio! (Also, I am probably biased against thinner toasts. I like a nice generous hunk.) The plain croissant was a solid 10/10. Crisp on the outside, pillowy soft inside. Many top tier croissants often rely on heaps of butter which make them heavy. This was neither greasy nor ovetly buttered, two pluses in my book. Overall recommend for charming ambiance and pastries. read more

Beautiful cafe at the heart of DC. Stopped by after seeing the name pop up on must visit cafe articles. Got a hazelnut latte (seasonal), matcha latte and a hot chocolate. Hot chocolate was truly like a hot chocolate and not watered down swiss miss, thank god. Coffee was decent but nothing mind-blowing. Kitchen sink cookie was amazing! On hindsight I wish I tried their kouign aman, it looked good in the display! The coffee cups and cutlery were beautiful! A pretty cafe to stop by! Nice to walk around the City Center after coffee too. read more
I have always wanted to come here. I came from the Smithsonian and it was raining. I made it ten minutes before close. The staff were so friendly and I had a great experience. I got a fleur de sel latte and a chocolate chip cookie. It was amazing. I bought 4 cookies to take home to California, one for someone special, one for me, and one for each of the kids. They put it in a to go food container for me so that they would be protected in my suitcase. The first person had one last night and is a chocolate chip cookie connoisseur and enjoyed it. I really liked the decor and the atmosphere. I cannot wait to come back and try more. read more

Nice Maman vibes as usual and a decent amount of seating when I came. I tried their matcha chocolate milk from their holiday menu and it was not good... Not a good combo especially with the cacao bits and the matcha flavour. Do not recommend. Their pastries and sandwiches are still solid though. The decor is what sets this place apart. The eclectic tiling and ambiance of this place makes it a great spot for a coffee date or a coffee catch up place. Plenty of seating for two people. The coffee itself isn't that much different than the surrounding offerings and the service could be a bit more organized, but it's still not a bad place to just sit and chat with a coffee in hand. read more
I love maman. This place has me a chokehold. Same order, different location. Get the papa's bowl and you won't be disappointed. It's very filling, has protein, starch, veggies, and plenty of flavor. I also enjoy their seasonal lattes. You can also order an alcoholic beverage here and they have seasonal cocktails as well if you're in the mood for that. It does get crowded and stays crowded throughout the day. This location only has indoor seating, and is on the smaller side in comparison to their navy yard and Noma location. read more

was pleasantly surprised with how yummy the food was! usually when a place is overly cute, i tend to wonder if the food is good but it really was. my only complaint is that the space was overly crowded and there were tables being taken up by people that were finished eating, allowing new guests to stand around waiting and looking for where they can squeeze in. read more

This place is great for a light meal. It has a fair amount of seating; however, it tends to fill up quickly on the weekends. I'm not a fan of sitting too close to the kitchen since it tends to leave my clothes smelling like the grill. The chocolate almond croissant is my jam. I also like their honey lavender latte. Other favorites include Papa's breakfast bowl, which comes with roasted potatoes, arugula, bacon, caramelized onions, avocado, egg, and chipotle aioli. I normally ask for my eggs scrambled instead of sunny side up and the aioli on the side. I've also had their Belgian waffles, which are served with guava jam, whipped butter, and powdered sugar. The waffles are nothing special! My grab-and-go orders have been accurate; however, they have messed up my Papa's bowl before, giving me the aioli on the food when I asked for it on the side. They graciously made the dish over though. Overall, this spot is a solid choice for a quick and tasty breakfast. Be prepared for potential crowds on weekends and consider sitting away from the kitchen to avoid any unwanted grill smells. read more

It's crowded but the experience is what you make it! The interior has such a lovely vibe, it's so welcoming and clean! I was surprised by the large display of sweet treats! The service was good! Not over bearing and they are patient. I ordered the omelette, and honey butter coffee AND matcha. The omelette was tasty, the star of the show was the honey mustard vinegarette! I am a chump for baked goods. I got the olive oil orange pistachio cake; it was good minus all of the pistachio inside. Very nutty and not a strong taste of orange! A chocolate chip nut cookie; it wasn't sweet but it was baked well. A cinnamon bun; it was crispy and layered with a lovely drizzle (I shared it with just about everyone who said it looked good) . The Coffe was so delicious, it was warm and not too sweet just like the matcha, milky and delicious! Beautiful experience especially with good company. read more
Gosh, I wanted to love this place so much. The crowds tell me that many people have better experiences than I had which makes me want to try again, however today was such a disappointment. I came when it seemed like the line had died down just a bit (was no longer around the corner outside), ordered my iced matcha and stood awkwardly waiting for it while dodging every other person waiting, working and scrambling to find a seat. After about 20 minutes of waiting and noticing that others who ordered before me were long gone, I went up and asked about my order to which I was essentially shooed away and told that they were busy and to just wait. After 10 more minutes, I went up again and it was determined that my order had been lost/not made. when I finally got my matcha, it tasted more like milk than any matcha I've ever had and was impossible to suck through the straw due to the chunks in the drink. This was on my list of places to try during my visit and it lived up to my expectations! Ordering was a swift process and was given a number to take to my table. It was seemingly busy but my food came out relatively quick. The entire cafe is gorgeous and lined with green vines, florals and elegant decorations. The only thing I would do differently is ask for my cookie to be warmed and for no pickled onion in my Caesar wrap, I wasn't made aware of what was inside and the menu didn't specify what it was. I assumed it would be a traditional take on the Caesar salad. Otherwise, so flavorful, fresh and crispy! read more

We had a sandwich, quiche, and what is a different kind of cinnamon bun. They were excellent. Food was a 5 out 5. The place was also pleasant and good seating. The people behind the counter were quick and provided good service. My issue is that they do not bus their tables. We asked and they said they would get right to it. They did not. We bussed our own table, received our food and when we were leaving they took the plates we bussed. Overall I would recommend but maybe when they are too busy. read more

I went for breakfast with friends and got the croque madam, turkey sandwich, and steak sandwich with my group. We also got the hazelnut donut, pistachio croissant, everything bagel croissant, and a mango passionate fruit pastry. The bread quality was amazing for all the sandwiches. The steak and turkey sandwich had very good pesto. The steak sandwich was also drizzled with a herbal butter on top and that was also very nice. My croque madam was very well cooked but the egg was extra. Sadly I did not taste any mustard. The best pastry was the everything bagel croissant. It was flaky and soft. The other pastries were ok. The mango passion fruit pastry was VERY filled and the filling was pretty good and the flavors were very balanced. My fiance got the matcha latte and I got a normal ice latte, it was mostly whatever milk you requested. read more
