This place shares a de-facto parking lot with Momiji Sushi next door. I've been a customer in both businesses. While there is a smaller parking lot to the south of the sushi shop, getting in there is more dangerous because of the traffic flow so I've always parked next to Tobacco Town. I've even bought propane refills from them. But today some jerk came out and purposefully told me to get lost. He didn't bother to tell the Ambulance drivers who were getting sushi, or the police car that was there last week. No, he picked on me, while I was legally parked in the only disabled parking spot on the block. Apparently my disabled permit isn't worth squat. Ambulances who eat sushi are okay, but not disabled people. I guess we know what kind of scum really run this place. If I could give "no stars" I would. You can't scare me off. read more

My review of tobacco town is nothing but failing I've been a resident in my area neighborhood for 56 years and the tobacco Town store on Barbur Boulevard used to be a friendly place to go to now it discriminates against those who are homeless or who don't look properly right to them to be in there buying their products so unless you you know look like you you know have money then you aren't allowed in their store or you're not allowed to be served they're hostile towards people they are very rude and very disrespectful of certain people or certain things that certain people classes of people that they think are Unworthy of their products or purchasing their products when you ask to talk to an owner or a manager they give you out somebody else's phone number that they say is the only number that they have and I think personally after being here for 56 years they have gone downhill 100% this used to be a great place to come in and see a friendly face someone from the neighborhood and now they are picking and choosing who they sell their products to and then they kick out other who don't they don't think deserve to be in their store any longer who are nothing but regular everyday people just like everyone else it's disgusting when a local store that has been here in your neighborhood for many years turns to unfriendly and just rude to even be around in a neighborhood like this it's a local Friendly Neighborhood not a disrespectful one read more

go here for cheap beer and it's pretty fresh, too. I thought I'd walk in to see what kinda beer they stocked. I have been here as a beer vendor, but not as a customer. They have lots of merchandise. I am very particular with freshness so made sure to look at the born on dates. I found a 6 pack of Buoy IPA cans for $9.40 with a born on of 10 days ago! I asked where the Halloween Candy was ( and they joked ) if they did it would be very expensive. Well, the beers cheap. They even held my package for me so I could walk to Safeway for my candy corn problem. Fun staff, busy store. I don't smoke tobacco - but appears they have loads of items. Price is right! Tobacco Town was clean and had good staff, good service, for ever so many years. But something has changed, and gone shady, big time! The former friendly and quick staff we knew are gone. There is now a weird guy with a tip jar and a bunch of junk for sale on the counter instead of two registers working. It's no longer just a friendly and quick alchohol and smoke exchange. There is a whole new paying method, and he wants your phone number too, besides your debit card number, in order to keep the same prices they used to be. "Join the 'club,'" he says, for $8 off (?). The price just went up by $8 around the same time he showed up. One wonders if he hooks that phone number right up to your debit card reader and offers those for sale too to some foreign hackers. Well, it must be that Kate's review is a little out of date. The staff is not creepy, they are actually quite nice considering the fact that their clientele can indeed be rather creepy. But it pulls all types and the attraction is that they have an impressively wide selection of beer, wine, and tobacco. Also tons of things you typically associate with a smoke shop such as high-end Zippos and silver flasks. The beer selection is excellent with some varieties that I have only ever seen there. I'm not a smoker so I can only comment on the prices as it relates to beer. To that end, they are pretty good. Not the best, but pretty good. read more

This place sold me a bad torch last night right before closing and the employee didn't give me a receipt. I came back the next day to exchange it and they wouldn't because I didn't have a receipt. I spoke to the manager and he was extremely rude and said it's not his fault I don't have a receipt. Funny story the employee let me use someone else's credit card and didn't even check my id or match up the name. It belonged to my boyfriend and he's just going to dispute the transaction. They did absolutely nothing to make the situation better. The employee even said to the owner that the torch is only working sometimes. This is a wind proof torch and should work all the time for being brand new. Spend your money elsewhere if it comes to torches because they sell CRAP products and don't warrant them if they break in such short time. As a regular customer here for over two years now, I have to give T-Town high marks. Their beer prices are ALWAYS cheaper than the grocery store across the street, and they stock the widest variety of chewing tobacco and dipping tobacco products I have found locally (and with much lower price points too). It has its own parking lot, so it's a breeze to park at. The staff has been very consistent (low turnover), and thus they learn all the regulars' names and are friendly and professional. I mean, I see previous reviewers had a problem with the staff or patrons, but come on, half the fun of going to a place that only sells beer, wine, cigarettes, cigars, tobacco, vaporizers, etc, is that the other people who you encounter there are exactly the crowd you would expect. Low, low prices! Creepy staff! Creepier patrons! This place is a sinner's wonderland, with an astonishing array of cheap cigarettes (good brands, too) and lots of beer to choose from. But it's like a black hole into the film "Deliverance," with toothless alcoholics buying a week's supply of PBR at noon. Also, the staff seems sort of... slow. And it's kind of out of the way. Horrible service(?) from one employee.I have shopped at this store infrequently over the last 2 or 3 years and more often the last few months due to a shortage online.The employees have always been courtious and helpful. Today was not one of those days.When I attempted to pay with a credit card I mentioned it was against the credit card agreement to write down my license number and keep it.She rudely asked "so you don't want to buy these?" Then abruptly took the merchandise and walked off even though I had my wallet out and was going to pay cash.I was stunned at the rudeness.If that would have been one of my employees she would get the day off to think about it.And she stupidly said she couldn't take my card because my license has my full legal name on it but all my cards and I D's have a shorter first name I have LEGALLY used for over 50 years with no problem.They have accepted tthe same card many times. This is no joke - my hatred of "tobacco town" was enough to get me to QUIT tobacco. I used to go in there for chew. I wanted to quit, but it was a convenient location. I have been off of chew for 3 months now - because of the bad service there. If you like IDENTITY Theft, Then shop at this place. not 20 minutes ago I went in and purchased an E-cig, upon paying for it, I give them my visa card, the counter girl then ask's me for my ID, which I wanna make clear THAT IS A VIOLATION OF their VISA MERCHANT AGREEMENT. They should not be asking visa card holders who try and use their card for ID(they need reported to VISA for this).. That's no even the worst of it, I give the lady my ID she then takes my Credit Card and My ID and Doesn't run the card.. she takes a pad and pen and starts writing down my ODL#, date of birth, name, and possibly my Credit card number. When I asked her why she has my credit card and is writing down my information she then tells me that its for my protection. I have NEVER at any store had someone take my ID and credit card and start writing things down from them both... This place needs shut down or #Visa need to pull there machines, cause some SHADY stuff is going on here. I also agree that the workers probably have substance abuse issues, When i was in there the other counter guy was talking about how smashed he got over the weekend.
