Cash Only This coffee place is very cute but easy to miss, it's to the left of Toby's Feed Barn in a little kiosk. I've gone to Point Reyes Station for years before I even knew it was there which is surprising because the town is not that big. I appreciate their hours which are 6:30am-5pm. This makes it easy to get coffee before and after hikes. Cowgirl Creamery recently closed and Bovine closes super early so Toby's has the edge on the coffee market. Standard coffee drinks but they do have green tea with rose petals which I like and is harder to find. Plenty of seating, fun to sit and people watch.

This is such hidden a gem! Tucked away from the outside its hard to tell there is delicious coffee behind that barn door.. until you smell it! We were back at the station around 4:30 after an all day excursion up the coast and were looking for some coffee for the road back home. Things seemed to be closed and as we walked by I heard music followed by the smell of coffee! We were surprised to see this adorable little kiosk in the barn across from a small grocery type store. They have a great selection of teas and coffee, I tried the herbal Jasmin and the cappuccino and both were great! We took our drinks and explored the barn and found a small back garden area with two chairs to sit and have coffee. The music was coming from a the end of the barn where a lovely lady was playing the piano really adding to the ambience of the place! Note: This is a cash only place. Great place if you are looking for a hot beverage to warm you up specially since its always chilly in the area! Highly recommend this place!

My friends and I stopped at Toby's today for an afternoon caffeine pick-me-up. I had the iced chai, which was $4.50 for a small. It was subtly sweet and very satisfying. My pet peeve with iced chais at some places is when there's too much milk, but Toby's offers a very nice ratio of chai to milk. Note that it's cash only.

Toby's Coffee Bar is right next to Toby's Feed Barn in Point Reyes Station along their main strip. If you've been to Point Reyes Station before, their main strip is basically a strip that you could easily drive through with a blink of an eye if you're passing by the area. There are other places you can get a cup of Joe here, and we've basically tried them all. Toby's Coffee serves your basic coffee, tea drinks and pastries, and it's a place where you can grab a seat or bench and enjoy the atmosphere. Their coffee is more on the bitter end, if you prefer yours bitter, but it's decent enough to get you going throughout the day. But some of their pastries and other baked goods are pretty good and perfect complimentary to your drink of choice. You can't go wrong if you do stop here to get your cup of Joe, and the place is very relaxing. It's a good place to watch the tourists and visitors wander around this quaint little town. 3 1/2 stars. Note: Cash Only, but you won't need to break out the Benjamins. Hamiltons and Lincolns will suffice.

    Coffee Bar and Animal Feed

Do you want to sip coffee next to animal feed and salt blocks? Really, who doesn't? I was walking through Point Reyes Station looking for an afternoon caffeine jolt and noticed several perky people walking towards me holding coffee cups. At the end of my quest was Toby's Feed Store which has an attached espresso coffee bar called Toby's Coffee Bar. Parking is decent, but it is easier to just walk. The coffee is a solid three star, but the ambience pushes it to a four star experience. I always judge a place on their plain espresso, and Toby's produced a good pull at a decent value for the area. The bar is cash only, but many people were still able to get their fancy drinks without much fuss. Atmosphere is a great reason to visit Toby's. The feed store stocks all the classic livestock feed and accessories, but they also stock many modern items and coffee. This is rustic chic and worth a stop for animal or human feed. They probably need a Square account and an iPad to serve the modern tourist, but Toby's Coffee Bar is a fun little option for coffee in a fun little town.

Small coffee bar adjacent to Toby's. No indoor seating - truly a coffee bar - but picnic tables outside offer a chance to take a load off. My problem was with my order: an iced white chocolate latte. There wasn't a hint of sweetness about it - I would've guessed a regular iced coffee on a blind taste test. Adding their organic sugar barely moved the dial. Drank a little but reluctantly gave up and dumped it in the trash: 4.50 down the drain. Not sure how you come up with a non-sweet white chocolate latte.

They left me a empty cup and i got very depressed when i finished the cup. It was a good latte.

While all along absorbing the beautiful scenery. And beautiful scenery there is indeed, just a short few miles from the bustling city life. My friends from Berkeley came for the ride today for a little bit of decadent indulgence. (I'll keep their names anonymous since I'm not sure if they're still in the witness protection program?) We had lunch at a pizza spot at Tam Junction then took a ride over Mount Tamalpais and down into Stinson beach, and then on to Point Reyes Station. When we got to Point Reyes Station the first thing that I mentioned was the Station House, and much to our surprise as we glanced over it was all shut down! Closed, shuttered, no more, another victim of Covid economy, etc.? We snagged the first parking space a block down the road on the right side, parked, and lo and behold as we crossed the street there it was- the all new Station House! A ghost orchid, appearing in Shangri-La! Drawing us in was the George Nelson bubble lamps hanging from the ceiling and a peek in the windows revealed a much hipper modernized facility in a new location with an incredible stunning aesthetic. Every detail is well thought out and expertly executed. From the polished floors to the beautiful lighting and artwork it is truly a gem. Even the restroom areas are exquisitely presented with sinks and mirrors outside of the stalls. Beautiful tiling in the stall area that somewhat resembles Heath ceramics subway tile. In my book, if there's a nice restroom area you've already scored tons of points and client appreciation. The bartender was top notch and drives quite a ways to come to his gig. We had a great chat with a charming local woman, who appears to eat there often- a real interesting and fun conversation. I had a killer Old Fashioned and my friend had a beer and his wife had an absolutely lovely non-alcoholic drink which I believe was called the Big Lyre. The only negative was that we had just eaten, so we tried the popovers which were out of this world and served with a succulent honey butter. I am filled with anticipation for my next visit, which will certainly be on my next day off. It's a bit of a journey to get there, but well worth it. A must destination, put it on your list.

First of all, Palace Market has some of the most entertaining one-star reviews I've ever seen from…read moreany grocery store. Nearly all of them are complaints about COVID protocol being enforced back in 2020. Three of them are from the same one person. One of the non-COVID related complaints was about the fact that the rotisserie chicken costs more than it does at Costco. As a former Costco employee who actually was "the rotisserie chicken girl," I found this hilarious. Everyone (apparently not everyone) knows that Costco chickens are sold below cost, as a doorbuster. They are intentionally placed in the back of the store, in a location which forces the consumer to walk past all of the promotional items on their way to and fro. You help subsidize the low cost with your annual membership fee. Furthermore, let's just say that if you knew everything that I know about rotisserie chickens, you would probably stop buying them from the store altogether, and invest in your own rotisserie chicken oven kit. These $28 chickens are meant for doctors/rich people who want an organic, free-range, non-injected local chicken that was cooked in an exceptionally clean oven, all by itself, with expensive spices and seasonings-- but don't have the time or expertise to cook them themselves. There are also some added fees for profit and the fair treatment of workers. If you want a Costco chicken, like, go to Costco. Lmao. That being said, yes, a lot of the items in this store are what I would refer to as "prohibitively expensive." Never in my life would I pay $60 for one pound of coffee. But, lucky for me, they also carry $10 coffee bags, which I can afford. Never in my life would I pay $30 for one block of cheese-- but they also carry $7 blocks of cheese. At some point, you have to realize, you get what you pay for. Palace Market is primarily geared towards the local clientele (insanely rich people) and tourists. Generally speaking, this is reflected in the cleanliness, availability of staff to help you (versus a skeleton staff who suffers if one person calls in sick), high-quality local products, great merchandising, great lighting, and community values. While the coffee and hot deli items are a lot pricier than they would be in, for example, Sacramento-- they also taste better. This past weekend, after walking around the farmer's market in the sun, I became desperately hungry enough to pay $14 for one of their hot Cubano sandwiches, and it was amazing. After taking my first bite, I literally said, "Oh my God, that's one of the best sandwich bites I've ever had in my life." Yes, shopping here is a splurge. You get what you pay for. If you're privileged enough to be able to afford to shop at Palace Market, you'll typically get exceptionally high-quality products with exceptional service. For the rest of us peasants, they have enough sales and po'boy items for us to just dip in for a taste.

To be fair, they do also carry some alcohol, but the alcohol section pales in comparison to the sodas. I bought a bottle of Cock N Bull apple ginger beer (for anyone who doesn't already know this, ginger beer, like root beer, is completely non-alcoholic), and a can of Pocasville bebida de T de hibiscus. I was going to pick out more drinks, but noticed that there were no price stickers anywhere. So, naturally, I wanted to know how much they cost before picking too many out. When I went to the register with my two items, I was given some serious sticker shock. It was well over seven dollars for two sodas. Of course I understand that food is really expensive right now, and that, the further the food has to be transported before purchase, the more it costs. Still, wow. That seemed so high. In addition to the amazing selection of overpriced sodas, this small store also had a great selection of (pricey) chocolates, cheeses, and hiking snacks. Additionally, they have a produce section that actually makes the store in Curry Village Yosemite look good. There were exactly two lemons, two limes, three oranges, four apples, and one piece of ginger. The cashier was maybe a little odd, but friendly. He recognized the people in front of me by name, and had a nice little conversation with them. The store was neither exceptionally clean or dirty, but looked clean enough. Parking was very limited with only about three spots out front, but there appeared to be more places to park across the street. I did not yet patronize the fresh sandwich deli, which seems to be the main feature of this store. Maybe another time.
