Very nice restaurant, but if you don't have reservations then it's overpriced for the hibachi grill food. The service was fast and wonderful. The food was 4 star at a 5 star price. The atmosphere was quiet until a large group showed up and thought they were at a private restaurant, so that's not the restaurant's fault. The chicken was nothing to get excited about. The staff was very kind and efficient. Food came out quickly. The restaurant seemed clean. The black pearl roll was decent, the shumai average. The "hibachi" was garbage. Way overcooked chicken, rock hard. Flavorless rice. Things we didn't ask for showing up in our meal. We asked for a hibachi table and were told they were booked all night. When I walked to the bathroom I noticed there were seven completely empty hibachi tables, some with stacks of junk on them. One table was in use in the corner for a family. This was our first time and we genuinely enjoyed dining in for lunch. I had the spider roll which included fried soft shell crab, cucumber, masago (capelin roe), and asparagus. It was absolutely amazing. The pickled ginger was a good cleaner and some of the best wasabi I've had. The udon noodles were cooked perfect and had so much flavor. The chicken and other veggies were good as well. Water tasted clean. Service was reasonable and the establishment was clean and quiet. We moved to the area in June and finally came around to trying this place. We came on a busy Thursday but the staff was super sweet. I ordered sushi, my husband order steak hibachi and my son the thick noodles. We loved them all. The miso soup was delicious ( other places we tried made it too salty). We are on the hunt for a good japanese restaurant as the one we used to go to has increased their prices a lot ,which would be ok, but the size is now so tiny and see thru thin slices of sushi..now I m not a fan of sushi , that's my hubby ,but I love the rolls with cooked fish..today we were in Fairhope checking out some things there and just happened upon this restaurant..and decided let's get a few things to try ..I got the geisha roll which has tempura cooked shrimp and veggies inside and salmon on top with a crispy topping and eel sauce ..it was delicious ..Hubby only got a few pieces, he usually eats 24 to 32 yes he eats that much sushi which is soo expensive but today he was just trying it to see if he liked it there and yes he said it was delicious ..his only thought was it could be thicker like it used to be other places we went ..I think those days are over but it was a longer piece of salmon and the shrimp were large so he was pretty happy.. the server was very friendly ..this will be one of our go to sushi places and the hunt will go on.. read more

I was in town and wanted some hibachi, so I called and they informed me that I have to be a party of six to sit at the hibachi grill. Which is fine I understand, so I ordered over the phone and went and picked it up. Boy what a absolute shit hole. I got rice, noodles, filet, chicken. Which let me remind you that this is a hibachi meal. The only thing cooked on the grill was the steak. The chicken was old and in chunks not grilled, the rice came from the bill rice not grilled, vegetables were steamed and never grilled. While visiting Fairhope, we ended up at Tokyo Asian by chance, because the other restaurants were packed at lunch on a Sunday. Our waitress seemed less than happy to even be there, so we just Ed hoped the food wouldn't give us food poisoning. To our surprise, the food was absolutely delicious! What an unexpected gem in Alabama! The Miso soup was great, the salad dressing was amazing (wish I had that recipe), and the Tonkatsu was perfectly breaded, crunchy and delicious. My husband had seafood udon noodle bowl, which he devoured. Fairhope, y'all have a wonderful gem in Tokyo Asian Cuisine. If you haven't been there, you should check it out. read more

When you go here, you must order the highway 181 Roll. Delicious! I get mine with a soy wrap instead of that ole seaweed. I also love the fajitas here. Oh, and I also love the chicken teriyaki! We went back and tried the hibachi and I was pleased. This place really is a good restaurant and their sushi is very good. My only complaint remains that the fried rice is too oily... If they would use less oil it would taste better and be a little healthier. Overall though I really enjoy this place. We went to Tokyo in Fairhope for a quick sushi fix, not wanting to deal with waiting at "another" Fairhope place. We noticed a few cosmetic changes when we walked in and the hostess said that was the new owners decision. What?? Didn't know it had changed hands! The hostess said they were good changes and man, was she right!! If you haven't been and especially if you quit going there, give it a try....you won't be disappointed!!!
