The food was tasty and plentiful. I got the Godzilla roll and the Alaska roll and both were fresh, tasty and well-presented. My guys got something with noodles - I don't know, they don't like sushi. I took a taste from each of their dishes and they were all good. The ambience was nice - it's small and cozy. This is my favorite sushi place in Greenville. The rolls range from $9-$15 and are really filling. But my favorite is the sashimi. The sashimi cuts are thick and so fresh. They have pretty decent prices for the quality of the sashimi and sushi. This is one of the few sushi spots in the upstate in which you can get toro. They don't have always toro available especially in the slower seasons. Their lunch specials are amazing. I love the green bowl, blue mango tuna, sushi pizza and their tartares. Their soups and rice dishes are mediocre but that's the extraneous menu items honestly; just come here for the sushi. I love the out of control roll, white geisha roll, Hawaii roll, and fallen angel roll. Their desserts are really decent at a good price. I love the fried bananas. I had the lunch special, which was any meat, chicken, shrimp, fish or beef with vegetables, soup, and fried rice. That was $10, so very affordable. I had the vegetables only, so mine was less. A very good deal. I went for lunch and got three roll combo ($12) and my bf got the sushi and sashimi box ($15). At those prices, I'm not expecting super quality sashimi. Order was taken by waitresses who are very quiet and I'm not sure if they speak fluent English but they were quick and attentive. The sushi and sashimi box actually didn't come in a box. It came in a platter with a variety of very fresh thick pieces of sashimi. (And seaweed salad which we loveeee) My rolls were great too but that sashimi stood out. I've ordered soosh from here a few times to go when I've had a long day at the office and don't feel like eating in a restaurant. It's come fresh and flavourful and well packaged. On a recent version I ordered the Yam roll, spicy salmon, spicy tuna and tempura shrimp. All was fresh the spicy's has some kick and tasted like above average sushi should taste. I'll keep ordering from here as it's convenient and easy to pick up. They accept CC. Good to go! read more

I have been a frequent visitor and for this reason I am not sure why I have not reviewed them! This jd my favorite sushi place, because it does have an expressly cooked section on the menu for when people who do not like raw sushi can pick from. The wait is never bad and I went last Friday and literally every table was packed. I love the million dollar roll and spicy sushi (tuna, crab, etc...). I got Red Curry Thai with chicken and my spouse who was a bit skeptical as his palette is very vanilla ordered Teriyaki steak with broccoli. So to be honest, I was worried what he was going to get. So the time came for our meals to be delivered to the table and his was beautifully arranged and to both our surprise, he loved it. He said the steak was delicious and the teriyaki sauce was so good! The sushi I had here erased any memories of sushigasms past, or at least reduced them to faint whispers. I felt unfaithful to my local sushi establishment in Columbia, of whose quality I could boast on an international scale. I'm looking for excuses to drive to Greer just so I can spend over $100 at this place. Any excuse. It's a destination sushi experience. On the flip side: a screaming 4-year old was running around flailing chop sticks: I wished her entire table of 16 met with a horrible death for allowing such appalling behavior in public. Their salmon sashimi was *smoked*, which doesn't qualify it as sashimi in my book. It was still tasty and the sushi was so good that it nearly made up for the cramped, noisy seating. The service was friendly and accommodating to our needs. You can't blame the restaurant for the local clientele, so caveat emptor. I'd still roe all the way back in a heart-beat. read more

Tokyo Cafe is never a hit or miss, it's always a hit! They have yummy appetizers and a good range of sushi rolls. Their sashimi is always on point and fresh! I love coming here for sushi, it's usually what comes to mind when I think "good sushi". One of my favorite appetizers from them would be the Kani salad; it's not a traditional salad but it's still delicious if your palate craves something creamy and savory. Why have I not been to this place? Seriously. I think I've found my new favorite sushi restaurant in Greenville. The quality is unbelievable and the quantity is even better. I've never had such a big piece of sashimi that's that fresh. The rice here is also the perfect amount of sweet and sour. I'm not saying this is a $50 per person omakase quality, but for Greenville it's amazing. Oh, did I mention how great the presentation is here? Just look at the pictures! Only negative thing is that the baked mussels need a little work. It tasted like the mayo wasn't baked on top but was added on after the mussels were cooked, so it's missing the caramelization that makes it so good. I read the other reviews about the presentation and had to check it out myself. My husband and I arrived just before the dinner rush. We ordered the yakitori as an appetizer and it was pretty good. I proceeded to order the avocado, yellowtail and naruto rolls and did receive a beautiful presentation; quite impressive. My other half ordered the Boston roll and chicken fried rice. We were both happy with our meals. The sushi was fresh and tasty. I also had the thai iced tea (could have been better) and the house sake (very strong). For dessert we opted for the fried banana, which reminded me of my childhood and visiting a Chinese restaurant in Vienna. *Smile* The restaurant itself is not very large and therefore provides a more intimate setting. I would like to return soon to try out more rolls and sit at the sushi bar. read more

My niece and I are Sushi snobs. I looked up a Sushi restaurant near where my sister lives and Tokyo Cafe looked impressive. However, you never know until you go.... AMAZING. Ambiance was lovely, staff friendly, and most of all the food was fresh. I ordered Sushi a la carte and every piece was as fresh as could be. My niece has the Tempura California Roll and the Tempura Philadelphia Roll and she felt the same. She also had the Thai iced tea, which she loved. We finished with the fried green tea ice cream, topped with whipped cream and drizzled with chocolate syrup. Oh yes, and the Miso Soup was perfect. This is my new go to Sushi Restaurant. Love this place! We went here for the first time with my family and it was incredible! I know a lot about sushi and have even been to a class about it. This sushi was amazing! First we got the fried calamari which was nice and crispy. Then we got the ichiban salad which was soooo delicious. Finally, we got a number of great rolls. My favorite were Fan's Yellowtail Roll and the Dragon roll. The plates had cool artwork made by food and sauces. This sushi was obviously made by a pro. So if you want delicious sushi and good Japanese/Thai food, you should really try this place out. read more

Delicious. Good service. No fishy smell. I always use the "smell test" when entering a Sushi restaurant. If it smells fishy when you walk in, walk back out. If it smells of tempura or something that is delicious, you can be assured that there is a real sushi chef that only offers fresh Fish to make his Sushi. Not disappointed.
