Incredible experience at Tokyo Central. Last night was my first time discovering Tokyo Central. Awesome hot food selection and pre packaged cold sushi and other selections. I've been wanting to find a place with hot miso soup and I finally did. Only one dollar for the soup! I ordered the spicy scallion California roll and 2 vegetable croquettes from the hot bar. Very satisfying meal! There's so much to see at this grocery store. The outdoor seating was warmed to the ideal temperature and so pleasant. Highly recommend this spot. Went to Japan a few months ago and had the craving for some snacks and sushi and this place didn't disappoint. This is a great place with a huge supply of liquor and snacks. They have a huge selection of fish and Wagyu cuts of meat at very reasonable prices compared to "American" grocery stores as well. Prices were on the high side for their merch but they have a good assortment of Anime and pop culture goods. They also have a small section of tamagotchis that are sorted by shell type. A few items were on sale and at a more reasonable price. I would definitely come by to check out sales if you are in the area. I nabbed some good deals. Their grocery food section is the usual stuff. Their takeout section had a decent variety and was priced ok. We grabbed a few items for later. They also have a hot food area and I saw a lot of old folks there. It seems they are regulars as one even chatted with the workers when there was a lull. It's nice to see some form of community. It is a really big supermarket with isles upon isles of groceries and diverse goods. They carry Lots of unique items. They have a hot bar, a food court and a Sushi restaurant on the second level. They also have beauty products, a large toy department, home essentials and so much more. It is such a fun and lively store to walk through. And everyone is friendly. I picked up a pack of rice cookies, some fresh Lychees and a specialty jar of Honey Lemon Ginger tea/jam. Yes. It is in the form of a jam but can also be used as a tea by adding hot water to one tea spoon of jam. Looking forward to trying it. read more

Uhmmmmm where have I been! I have lived in LA for decades, frequented Gardena during this time and even lived in the South Bay and never heard of this until today! Went 30 mins before closing and had the 20% off sushi. So far so good! Let's see how my stomach does tomorrow but for now I'm good! We shared $35 worth of sushi and both left very full! And the groceries are fantastic!! Man I LOVE Japan and anything Asian and used to do Ranch Market in the Bay Area and this is almost like that! And you can sit and eat quietly and have a conversation. Tokyo Central in Gardena is a pretty large Japanese market with an amazing selection of groceries, fresh produce, and ready-to-eat foods. The store is huge--it even has a sushi restaurant on the second floor (we didn't try it this time, but it's on our list for next visit!). We went on a Sunday for lunch, and while it was pretty crowded, the variety made up for it. They have everything from fresh mochi and a hot food station to sushi, karaage chicken, and bento boxes. There's also a mini food court with three restaurants -- great for a quick meal. We found seating outside on the patio, and I loved that they had a microwave available in case you need to heat up your food. Love love love Tokyo Central! It just heals my sentimental feeling towards Japan because I adore the country so much. This place literally heals me whenever I miss Japan too much and they never disappoint. This location is considered big in my opinion. They have Gindaco for God's sake, but they are already closed when I arrived The staff are nice. Even the people who give out samples for new products are super nice. We initially came for Waka Sakura but we couldn't resist all those options in food section. They have few seats but food court was closed, so I got seats right away. Parking is a hit or miss, they have a pretty big parking space. The vibe is welcoming. read more

I've been here several times and I finally noticed the cookware section! I didn't get to explore that entire area yet (had some clothes I saw), but I'm going to! I went looking for a fine mesh strainer, and then actually found candles specifically made for in-home alters. You can only find those in Japan! I was thrilled. Where have you been all my life? I've heard about the biggest Tokyo Central in LA area for quite a while but never had a chance to check it out until now. There's a Tokyo Central in West Covina that I frequent but this location is on another level. The layout, aisles, products placements and varieties reminded me a lot of Don Don Donki stores. And yes, it turns out that it's managed under the same parent company Don Quijote. The mascot can be found in several places throughout this supermarket. I honestly spent hours in here walking and browsing through every aisles and buying way more than I expected. Aside from the regular products sold in other supermarkets, there are expansive beauty, collectible/toys, specialty & imported items and food being offered here. There were samples being given out in several sections too. I love the hot food and prepackaged food section here. There was definitely a good variety to choose from! You won't even believe the snacks aisles. Thousands of imported and specialty snacks, drinks, sweets and gift-giving products are neatly displayed in multiple aisles. The fruits and vegetables were all fresh and of premium quality too. There's a Japanese restaurant on the 2nd level and a food court area right after the checkout/cashier area. We came here after having our lunch so we didn't get to try any of them. We'll have to make another trip here soon to try them. read more

By far, this is the biggest Tokyo Central that I've ever been to. I stopped by here because I was going to have dinner in the area. Their sushi and sashimi looks so good that I almost wanted to cancel my dinner reservation. This location has two levels. I didn't go upstairs, but I believe it is restaurants. This place is awesome! The food court has a great variety to choose from. Lots of seating inside and outside. The supermarket also sells hot and cold food inside the market that you self-serve. They also have these delicious grab and go sushi triangle things in the front. It's a big place with lots of different things to buy. We were in the area and stopped here for a sushi/sashimi lunch and to do a little bit of shopping. I liked the Hawaiian section, where we bought a mixed pack of sodas for an upcoming tiki party. So many cool snacks too. The fish was beautiful and we chose two different pre-made options along with a couple of red bean pastries. The tuna was so fresh! We ate lunch on their covered patio. Definitely a specialty store with some premium prices (this is not a discount store for sure), but the quality of the fruits and vegetables, and the HUGE selection of Japanese goods are worth it. My favorite Japanese market! Not only do they have the items I need to make delicious meals they have house goods and cutey items perfect for gift giving. Prices are comparable if not cheaper since there are many sale items that rotate weekly. They have a large selection of ready made food and the to go boxes of sushi is unbelievably fresh. I always pick up a few to eat, one for there in their convenient food court table area by the front of the store and then a couple to take home for later. First time at this Tokyo Central location, came on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. Very big store. I like how affordable the lunch buffet is at $10.99 per pound. But the food I got was just average. I like the Chicken Karage, very flavorful and still hot. My least favorite was probably their bbq ribs, it just tasted a little dry which makes sense since it was sitting there for quite some time. Wow!!! Just wow!!! Glad I got to experience this market. This Tokyo Central Japanese Market is huge!!! So many variety of beauty products, household items, food, vegetables, fruits, bakery items, fresh sushi and food to go. Aisles and aisles of everything you can imagine! I was a bit overwhelmed but enjoyed the stroll inside. They have a few restaurants and dining area inside too! I highly recommend swinging by and explore this market. You might find what you're looking for. There's plenty of parking, they have two sizes of shopping carts. One kiddie size and one regular size, kiddie size shopping cart is soooo cute. And if you don't feel like any of those, there's a whole food court you can enjoy. I've had their Japanese curry and it was very delicious and comforting Not hungry? No problem. There's a whole kitchen section with useful items and tools for your own cooking, plus a toy and pet section. For my fellow cat owners: There's a section just for Churu treats and a huge variety of them. I've never seen so many in one location. So if your cat is as obsessed with these treats as mine is, you need to come here! There is a parking lot, but it tends to fill up - one time I went and I couldn't get parking because everyone knows how awesome this place is! What's not to like about this market. We usually visit it after we have lunch at one of the neighboring restaurants. They do have a small food court in this market, which has a fun place, a small bakery, and a cream puff place. There is a small produce section and prepared foods as well. They have a dairy and refrigerated section as well as frozen meats. Lots of drinks and snacks lots of items and dinnerware from Japan as well as Hawaii. There's a really good beauty and health section as well. That has the popular shampoo, lotions, etc. Price is definitely have gone up for the imported items due to tariffs, etc. there's also a small gift and toy area. Service is always super friendly and helpful. Lots of parking out front. Lots of shopping carts. Every time I go, however, the sweet potato warmer isn't ready, but they do feature roasted sweet potatoes. I would come back, but I would not make it my main grocery market.
