Best ever for Japanese items and fish.
    Thomas B.

I love this place. I've been to a lot of Asian markets and Japanese markets. This one is the topper. They have everything you could possibly conceive not necessarily in great amounts because it's a small local market not like the superstore, but the selection is amazing. They pride their selves on fresh fish and when you go in, you can see the shine on the fresh meat showing it's freshness. So what do you want noodles rice sushi ready-made or anything Japanese this is the place that you go. I've been coming here for years and it just gets better and better.

Great little market that is packed full of delicious things! I was absolutely thrilled to see how much Hawaii kine stuff they had- lau lau, kalua pig, S&S saimin, Portuguese sausage, manapuas, luau leaves and Zippys chili wow!!! They have a good selection of meats to choose from and live crab! The only thing to note is parking is super tight in their parking lot, but if you park around the corner at dollar tree it's free for a quick grab and go instead of spending money on street parking. Literally so happy to have found this gem.

Well sourced Japanese market that has a seafood counter, lots of prepared foods, and lots of dry Japanese goods. The folks here very friendly. The space doesn't feel very large, but they efficiently use what they have with a great variety of goods lining their aisles. So many delicious looking items in the prepared foods sections. Including musubi! I was up here visiting with my brother and my sister-in-law. We stopped by here to grab some items to take home for later that night. This place seriously reminds me of my favorite Japanese markets down in the Los Angeles/Torrance area. If I lived in this area, it would definitely be one of the regular places I shop at.

    Lots of furikake selection!

Such a fun and well stocked little Japanese market that really reminds me of Japan - especially all of the tiny packs of beautiful fruit and veggies :) Ample selection of Japanese and Hawaiian imported dry goods including curries, sauces, ramen and noodles, bonito, miso, etc as well as a small produce section and of course a fish mart! There are also bento boxes, sashimi and sushi platters to pick up for a quick lunch. On the day we visited, there was also a small pop up of Japanese sandos (think fluffy milk bread with whipped cream and strawberries). Prices varied with some products on sale, but generally a little bit more on the premium side. We did find the sashimi to be excellent quality and enjoyed all the products we got though, so it's worth it! If you're looking for Japanese cookwear and bowls, the gift shop is next door.

Love the sashimi fresh fish here! When in town, my husband and I always come here to get sashimi, but you have to come early as it could be sold out My go to place for fresh sashimi. Service is great.

Wow. That delicious meal was over too quickly.

6 June 2025 4.4 stars A few weeks ago we drove to to Tomales Bay Oyster Company for Manilla clams and oysters. They were great but so much more expensive than the fish we usually buy near home. I wrongly thought if I made that long drive to the oyster farm the price would be lower. I researched and found Tokyo Fish Market. Turns out I can get quality fresh shellfish 50 minutes closer to home and at the same or a better price. The shop is bustling with eager customers. Shelves and aisles are packed with a multitude of items. Loads of fresh fish looking so much more appetizing than the fish we would normally buy at 99 Ranch or Costco. Some fish here is pretty pricy but I'm thinking you are paying extra for quality and service. We purchased two pounds of muscles and a bag of baby spinach. I appreciated how the friendly monger checking each muscle out to make sure there were no surprises when we got them home. The cashier was having fun bopping his head to an old pop song. Wife souped the purchased ingredients up with sautéed ginger, onion, garlic, salt and pepper. Delicious. We will be hitting up Tokyo Fish Market again when we want fresh seafood.

Stopped by Tokyo Fish Market after my brother insisted I check it out and I'm glad I listened. It's a tightly packed shop with a ton of character, carrying everything from fresh seafood to Japanese snacks, sauces, and pantry staples. The shelves are lined with ingredients you'd expect in a Japanese kitchen like noodles, miso, bonito flakes, condiments, and plenty of harder-to-find items too. About a third of the market is devoted to a solid seafood counter with sashimi-grade fish, oysters, and other fresh catch. There's also a few refrigerated sections with sushi, sashimi trays, onigiri, and even bento, all ready to go. Everything looked clean, fresh, and well-prepared which is perfect if you're in a rush or want to grab something for lunch or dinner without much fuss. Prices felt very fair especially considering the quality and the staff were friendly and efficient. The only downside is the small parking lot out front but there's additional parking tucked away on the back left side of the building which is easy to miss if you do not know it is there. Out front there is a detached gift shop selling Japanese-themed souvenirs, ceramics, and trinkets. It was a bit sparse when I visited and felt more geared toward tourists, but I could see that space becoming something really special. A cozy cafe, bakery, or a spot featuring Japanese media, books, or specialty items would be a great use of that space. Whether you are stocking up your kitchen, grabbing something fresh to eat, or just exploring a unique local gem, Tokyo Fish Market is one of those places that makes you want to come back again and again. It's an essential stop for anyone who appreciates good food and quality ingredients.

We recently went to Tokyo Fish Market to get sashimi for a diy handroll night and it was soooo good! All the fish was super fresh, including the uni ugh I could eat so much of it. Also, I didn't realize that there are different crispiness levels for seaweed, but the one we got was the perfect crisp for handrolls! Nothing is worse than struggling to chew through the seaweed on a handroll. Super fun option for date night! The shop itself is pretty small but super cute and well stocked with all kinds of Japanese grocery items. Aside from the fish and seaweed, we got some miso paste, wasabi, ginger, and cream puffs. I was also tempted by some of the Hawaiian coffee and pancake mixes, but held myself back. I didn't see any of the Hawaiian poke when we went, but I def want to go back to find it!

This is THE SPOT!!! What a nice, little gem! My boyfriend and I were in the area and Tokyo Fish Market popped up on my Yelp and I was in the mood for some raw fish. We came by a little later, so they were out of some items. We picked up some tuna and salmon. The prices are good and wow, the quality?! SO FRESH!! If we lived closer, we would definitely go here all the time for some fish.

Absolutely love this place! I'm a huge fan of fresh fish, and usually find myself in the South Bay for Santo Market's poke bowls. Since I'm an East Bay girly myself, Tokyo Fish Market clears the commute since I live about 10-15 minutes away. Parking is a little tight here but that's reasonable considering its location on busy San Pablo Ave. The market itself is quaint and slightly hidden behind the gift shop building. When you go in you'll find the usual stuff you see at Asian markets, but the gems are in the fresh fish and Japanese goods! Staff here are so friendly and take pride in the work they do (especially those making the poke!) I usually like to come in and buy the following: - poke (amazingly good! Love the bowls, and the spicy hamachi is surprisingly better than the typical tuna in my opinion -- it's a bit more firm) - butter mochi (various flavors and such rich quality! It reminds me of the butter mochi I'd get in Hawaii) - Pocari Sweat (My absolute fave! Used to get this all the time in Japan and I'm happy it's available at this market since it's a hard find at other places.) - seaweed salad (affordable and delicious with many meals!) If you're in the area, I highly recommend checking this place out and grabbing a bowl of poke for lunch! It's reminiscent of poke quality on the islands!

Enjoy this fish market. It's always a great place to find delicious options for recipes and dinner lunch. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It's a fun place to also learn about new foods and ingredients to try.

    Wild salmon there?

Tokyo Fish Market sells many variations on salmon. Some are farmed, some are smoked, some come from other countries. The question is a little indirect. I took it to mean does the store carry salmon that was caught in the ocean and caught its own… Read more

Do they have sushi-grade Copper River Salmon?

I have never seen Copper River salmon there at all. And it's not a thick fish, so cuts are not ideal for sushi.

    Where is best parking?

They have a small parking lot on the premises for about 12 cars. Otherwise, there's street parking.

Does this place have small tables or anything for you to eat right there? Bathrooms?

No. Its literally a tiny mom & pop market so it is pretty tight inside while shopping.

Do you have live main lobster?

They often have live Maine lobster and Dungeness crab, depends on season.

Do you sell toro? What is the price point?

Yes, depending on the cut of toro (otoro or chutoro) but per pound, it can be $30-$60.

Do you sell oysters in bulk? If so, what volumes and cost?

Yes, you would have to make sure to call in advance to make sure that they have the amount you need. If you go in without making previous reservations, they might be charged per piece vs a bulk price.

I want to say they stock their Hawaiian goods deliveries on Thursdays, but you might want to give them a call to confirm.

Does anyone know how to pre-order uni and other fish and pick up at a later time?

Are they open as of 12/8/2020?

Yep. I was actually there shopping on that very day.

    Do they sell sushi rice?

    Yes, they do.

Do they take ebt? Was just there, waited in line in the blazing heat to find out that they DON't take ebt!!!!

    Yup.

Do they get live lobsters all the time? If not, how often or during what season will they sell live lobsters?

I go in at least once a month and it looks like they have live lobsters in stock pretty frequently

I called this market ahead of time to confirm they carried Everyday Dose collagen (new and amazing product w/ L-Theanine, Lion's mane, Chaga and Cordyceps). I was told they do. An hour long commute later, a kind lady with fiery red hair named April showed me three locations where Collagen could be. They did not have it.
