We ordered delivery and this was a disappointment. First of all, the hot food was bagged with the sushi items, so the sushi was warmed up. Next, the egg rolls were super oily and had no taste other than soggy oil taste. Finally, and most aggravating was the sushi and rolls all tasted the same, particularly being overpowered by the vinegar in the rice. We won't be ordering from here again. My food was ready when I got there which was nice but everything was sloshed around in some liquid leaving everything in the bag sticky & my egg roll was completely soggy. Quality was not great. My salad was warm and ginger sauce tasted sour like it had either been sitting out or old. This is a friend's go-to spot for quick sushi, so since we were hungry after a morning of exercise, we went here for a quick lunch. It's atmosphere was definitely a Chinese to-go restaurant, and it did smell a bit, but we decided to eat in. I tried their sushi bento box, with a separate yellowtail roll. Their fountain drink machine was out of order, so we had to go with bottled sodas. My salad came out first, served on a styrofoam plate. This was followed by my roll, and my "bento box" all served on a styrofoam plates. To be honest, none of the food looked very appetizing when served this way, but it did taste better than it looked, with the highlight being the dumplings. The five pieces of sushi were "chef's choice" and consisted of one shrimp, two salmon, one yellowtail, and something else, and it did all taste fresh. If I lived in the area, I'm sure I would order to-go from here occasionally, but since I don't, I think once was enough. read more

Terrible food! I ordered the mei fun chicken and miso soup and spring rolls. The mei fun is not true mei fun, it's terrible and it should not be called mei fun just because they add thin rice noodles. The chicken is hard and over cooked. No taste other than soy. No veggies that would be normally I mei fun. The rolls are mushy inside. The soup was not true miso, it was miso with tons of onion and scallions overloaded and taste was terrible and it came barely warm. Don't recommend this place. We came here because we were craving lo mein and hibachi. To say that this was among the worst I have ever had the displeasure of tasting is an understatement. The noodles were drenched in soy sauce and super salty. The beef was so tough we could hardly chew it. Sadly the chicken hibachi wasn't any better. The chicken was tasteless, super tough, dry, and hard to eat. The fried rice was not in a position to be called that. 1/2 of it was still totally white and the flavor was lacking. I got DoorDash and the salmon roll and eel roll were good! But the chicken fried rice, GOSH, the chicken was soo dry! They used chunks of chicken breast instead of smaller cuts so you know it's gonna be dry. This business is dishonest. We ordered and realized our bill was substantially more than prices shown on the menu. When we approached them, they stated that their menu prices were incorrect and they were only willing to offer us complimentary drinks to make up the difference, not a refund. They get away with this, because they do not offer you an itemized receipt, only a total price (they can only see the itemized portion on their side of the register). They even admitted that most people don't question their receipts. As far as the food, the fish for the sushi was not good quality, I didn't eat two of the five rolls because the shrimp was "veiny" and the tuna turned the rice pink which was unappetizing. The veggies were good and the salmon was okay, but slightly overcooked. They also took a long time to get our food to us - it took over 45 minutes for a small order. We will not be returning - we will go to Best Thai and Sushi. We now understand why the wait there was more and there was no wait here. read more

Pretty Good Place with Nice service. We found out about this place bc they sent mailers to our house. It was convenient bc with the mailers they included a full menu, and a 20% coupon. We passed by bc they are located in the same area as Home Depot and Publix, and wanted to check it out. They had one table outside so that was good since we had our little doggie with us. We both ordered a bento box. mine had chicken, steak and shrimp. My husband's had chicken. With it they were flexible to give him fried rice and an egg roll instead of white rice and California rolls. They also gave him extra fried rice since he doesn't like salad or soup. We both enjoyed it very much. The taste was very flavorful, and the service was good. We forgot to bring our coupon but they honored the coupon anyway and said come back soon. They also deliver which is convenient to us since we are nearby, and sometimes may be lazy to get out of our house. All in all, it was a pretty good experience and we will go back again. read more

The bento boxes are particularly nice with a selection of side dishes. Here's another bonus: the sushi is crazy cheap. Sure, it's not sushi made by Chef Jiro, but if you're craving a California roll, you have to choose between Publix and this place in the area. Made fresh to order? Always better than Publix. The atmosphere is pretty low, as noted in other reviews. What makes up for that is the true kindness of the family that runs this delightful place. A little nervous going midweek because of the one bad yelp review, but Tokyo Grill and Sushi did not disappoint! I was very happy w my sashimi. Standout pieces included the salmon and eel (just a little crispy on the edge w perfect sauce). Sashimi deluxe came with spicy tuna roll, which was loaded with fish vs rice. My boyfriend ordered the fried gyoza and chicken and steak hibachi. He was very satisfied too. I tried one gyoza - crispy shell with tasty, soft, not overcooked pork filling inside. We are so happy to finally find a restaurant by Wesley Chapel, thats not part of a chain, that we can go to regularly and won't break our budget! read more

It pains me to have to leave a bad review, this is someone's livelihood and I am sure they are doing their best. However, I tried this place out because the reviews were so hit or miss, I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. I will say, if you like good sushi, this will not be the place for you. First thing I noticed when I walked in was that everything is prepared behind a curtain, including the sushi. That's red flag number 1. You don't have a waiter, you order up front like a fast food joint and then everything is brought out to you in to go containers. They do have a large menu with decent specialty roll options but with how many red flags of the environment, I ordered just a spicy tuna roll to see the quality of fish and make sure it's a place I wanted to order a ton at. I had one piece of the roll and didn't have any more. I did not try any of their cooked dishes but I had enough to not want to come back. Like I said I am sure they are doing their best and if you're not a sushi snob you may want to give this place a try. It just wasn't for me. read more

Tokyo Grill and Sushi serves Japanese food that is the equivalent of really good take-out Chinese. They serve hibachi and bento dinners, sushi, and the lagniappe basics like a clear mushroom soup, seaweed salad, and tempura. The sushi was of the quality of what I'd expect from an express place (the scallops were a bit cold in the spicy scallop roll, and the salmon wasn't the fatty, melt-in-your mouth quality I'm used to from going to my favorite sushi place). The food seemed a little Americanized; the sauce that came with the hibachi steak was sugar-sweet. However, the food was better than I expected. This is a mom and pop operation, and they knew my mother's usual order, including a couple hacks like a different dipping sauce and noodles instead of rice, before she ordered. She eats here with her husband every Sunday. She was more than happy with her tempura. My step-father's bento box was huge, and I was surprised at the crisp, fresh quality of the veggies in one of his sushi rolls. The hibachi steak was well-seasoned and of good quality, with veggies that were also well-cooked and good. The clear soup was flavorful and topped with crispy onions. The spicy sushi rolls I ordered were on par with rolls I've had in similar establishments. Where the restaurant really shines with with service and price. We paid less than $40 for sushi and lunches for three people. They have a special on sushi (I'm not sure for how long) where their normally low prices are 30 percent off. Their rolls are already lower priced (for the most part) from what you'd find at the grocery store, let alone another Japanese restaurant. My hibachi steak was around $7 as a lunch special. They also have regular sushi specials that bring the price point even lower ($9 for two select rolls or a little bit more for three). Their service is a little slow, but when we ate (lunch on Black Friday) it looked like there were only two people working between the kitchen and the counter. And they make up for it for being super nice and getting things right, from knowing the orders of their regulars to going out of their ways to offer substitutions and customized orders. So, instead of paying $10 for take-out Chinese, now you have an option to order Japanese food that's just as good but, surprisingly, just as moderately priced. read more

I've heard mixed reviews of this place which is why we waited to try it. I must say we really enjoyed it. It's a small dine in or take out restaurant. Very simple and not one of your "upscale" sushi places but the food was very good. We had Gyoza and Steamed Dumplings for apps which were both delicious. Between three of us we also had some California Rolls, Hawaii Roll, Angry Dragon Roll and Shrimp Bowl. We all cleaned our plates.
