The food is always delicious! However, if you want a real hibachi experience you may want to go elsewhere. The chef didn't engage with anyone at the table. No cute volcano or any tricks at all. My son ordered chicken and scallops and just got scallops. We checked the seating chart and the order taker only wrote down scallops so we didn't say anything. Then when the chef was done cooking we didn't have but 5 minutes to eat before there were workers out setting up plates and silverware for the next round of eaters. I recently visited the new location. Lots of parking, with a sharp modern look. One thing I've noticed in some new construction is that the pursuit of having a clean modern look, results in a building with no sound deadening materials. Hence, in the back where the grills are located a problem quickly occurs when three or more grills are being used contemporaneously. I could not hear the waitress, the hostess or the chef. I do note that after about 1:15 pm, that the volume died down. Yes, less grills with their huge vent fans were left operating. The new seats will probably last longer than some current nations. They are very sturdy, very hard, and very uncomfortable. The service was very good and the restaurant was very clean. The food was enjoyable. The cost is moderately expensive, however you must remember that you are getting your own chef, along with a bit of theatre. I thoroughly enjoyed the rare filet along with the fried rice. If you want vegetables they are an extra charge. All in all a good experience, but a noisy one. read more

Sat at table service not the grill and our food was disappointing. Everyone's food arrived cold and rice was crunchy. I sent my shrimp dish back because I'm not eating cold shrimp. Never going back. We tried to celebrate our grandsons birthday at the Monroe location with family. If you like shoe leather steak you will be happy. Me not so much. Every piece of my steak was spit into a napkin each bite hoping I could chew it. The staff was crawling over us to clean up before we were even finished eating. They brought the set ups for the next guests out in stacked them and stood by the hibachi ready for us to leave. Talk about the bums rush. No thanks! I've been coming here for years now, and I highly recommend this place. A lot of people complain about the service because they do the hibachi side of the restaurant, where I admit, the chefs aren't that enthusiastic, and the food isn't as consistent as the restaurant side, but if you go to the sit down restaurant side, the food comes out consistently good. Me and my girlfriend never go to the hibachi side anymore because the restaurant side is superior, the staff is better and more friendly (if come in enough they remember you and your order), and the food is great. The pricing is very good compared to Kyoto, in Loganville, where to feed a family of three there, it will cost you around $70-$100 for mediocre food. At Tokyo, for a family of three you're looking at around $40-50 which is not bad in todays inflation era. It used to be cheaper back before and at the start of covid where a solo steak was $9 but unfortunately now a solo steak is $10. Still, Tokyo is the best bang for your buck for Japanese food in Monroe. I recommend the solo steak cooked in garlic well done with steamed rice, which is amazing. This costs you about $15 after a drink, and it is well worth the price. read more

Listen, there's not a lot of sushi options outside of Atlanta, and unfortunately our meal has deemed that to remain so. We got a variety of food that I I'll rate below: Shrimp Shumai: pretty good! We've had better, but probably was my favorite part. Seaweed Salad: came with cucumbers soaked in the sauce. It was nothing to write home about and lacked the nutty sesame flavor I love. Chicken + Shrimp Hibachi: first off, it was a SUPER small portion in comparison to any hibachi I've ever gotten. My 3 year old son ate all the rice and still wanted more for portion comparison. The shrimp and chicken were both over cooked. It was also odd that they were cooked in two different sauces. On a positive note, the restaurant itself was clean and roomy. I would have given it a one star but the sushi was good and the sushi chef was so nice and sweet. Otherwise it is an over crowded, over priced hot mess. The absolute worst part was watching our beautiful vegetables become dark and limp and watching our seafood seize up, shrivel up and die! I met here for my grandson's birthday luncheon. We shared a hibachi grill for a full seating. Everything was delicious. I ordered scallops and steak. The scallops were large, not the small bay scallops. I ordered my steak medium, and it was juicy and tender. (If you order the steak well done it may make the steak tough and leathery.) The birthday surprise is an ice cream cup with a birthday candle in it. One waiter beats a drum while the table around the grill sings the happy birthday song. We got a table instead of hibachi. The soup and salad came out together and pretty quick. We ate them and figured the food would be out shortly after. It was not. It came out 45 minutes later and was cold. The fried rice wasn't cooked all the way and therefore the onion and carrots in it were raw. Our server was nice but hectic.
