This place is amazing the waitresses aren't the most attentive but James the sushi chef there more that make up for their shortcomings. The rolls are always consistently made and never fall apart. I will start by saying their food here is amazing. The heart attack roll is bomb! BUT the service here is below my expectations of any restaurant. Went in a bigger group and was first not asked for a drink order. Took some food order and walked away. We ordered our first round and they didnt want to give a second round. I think they thought if they took too long we would get full and leave without eating as much, which is what happened. We left after waiting an hour for a 2nd round of our sushi. Then they tried over charging us for everything, completely had the bill jacked up. We wont be going back unless for take out. My husband and I have been going to Tokyo since they opened. Our family has also gone there... We had many bday celebrations and other occasions celebrated there because there customer service and food was excellent. But in the last few years it has dwindled down... We went there last night (6/29/15) and it was terrible! The customer service was extremely slow. Didn't get our soup and salad until after our rolls. Didn't even get our plates and soy dishes until after that! The fish tasted old especially the scallops. The rolls weren't even made the same. It's really sad because my husband and I loved that place.. It literally held a special place in our foodie hearts. We will probably never go there again. My family didn't really care for the sushi. We waiting a long time for my daughters roll and everyone else at our table all ready had there's. The service was not good. We had to ask for chopsticks after we sat there with our sushi thinking they would bring some to our table. The miso soup was cold and the bowl was not even half full. My boyfriend and I have been coming to Tokyo for almost four years. We always enjoyed the food but have noticed that this past year, the service has been terrible! We ignored the slow and bad customer service that we received from the waitresses because we loved their sushi. After our visit yesterday, we will not be returning there again. There was only two other tables in the restaurant when we came in and I noticed that one of them already had received their first round of all you can eat sushi. We ordered five rolls and asked for miso soup. After noticing that our waitress had left for the day without telling us, we sat at the table for about thirty minutes before receiving edamame; not miso soup. After waiting another thirty minutes, the waitress finally came over and asked if we wanted more water after noticing that our glasses had been empty since the last time she checked with us a half hour prior. A different cook came in and was more concerned with a gentlemen and his order who had only been waiting about ten minutes. A woman that came in thirty minutes after us ordered, ate and left before we received our food. After almost an hour and a half wait, we scarfed down the rolls as they came out sporadically. Our third roll, the spider roll was burned and left a nasty taste in our mouths. We only ordered one round of sushi left without leaving a tip - which we never do! Where do I start? I don't like to be a negative person, so I'll give them credit for the delicious salad dressing I enjoyed. That one, small, insignificant part of the whole aside ... The rest of the food and the service were pathetic! The miso soup was practically a bowl of water with only two measly pieces of tofu; no flavor, no seaweed or green onions. I ordered a bento with chicken teriyaki, tempura and california roll. I also shared a black tiger roll with my fiance. The tempura tasted like it was cooked in old oil, the broccoli was overcooked and the carrot was cut *very* thick (that could just be preference, I like it cut thinner). The california roll left a lot to be desired. It had too much mayo and the avocado was warm and mushy; it had to have been sitting out forever and was on it's way to turning to brown. The spicy tuna in the black tiger roll wasn't fresh, very blah. The small cut pieces of the rolls are a joke! When someone pays $7-9 for a specialty roll at a sit down restaraunt, they should get a decent sized roll, not tiny mall kiosk sized sushi pieces! Now, for what pissed me off the most. The chicken teriyaki was slimy, fatty parts of the chicken. The texture was stomach turning! I choked down the first piece, not wanting to spit in my napkin, hoping the rest would be better. The next three pieces went into my napkin and I gave up after that. I asked the waitress if I could exchange the chicken for beef, told her what I didn't like about it and showed her my large chicken filled napkin wad. She asked who I'm guessing is a manager or owner and the lady said no because I had already started eating to which I explained, I wasn't eating it, I was spitting it out. They didn't care. I can stay quiet about bad food/good customer service or good food/bad customer service. A balance is struck when one makes up for the other. Tokyo though, this place has nothing going for it. The food sucks and so do the people running the place. Take your precious money and spend it at Niko Niko in Redlands. I have bacon in the fridge thicker than the sashimi they serve here! One slice of sashimi was so thin I could see the plate through it. Really slow service from the single waitress on duty for Friday lunch...sashimi served before the wasabi, salad and miso. I sat there for five minutes starring at my sashimi before the waitress showed up with the rest of my order. Miso was luke warm and the salad had an inch thick layer of gooey green dressing on it. I never saw the waitress again and had to go to the counter to ask for my check. Given the number of similar reviews here, if the Tokyo owners can't afford to bring in a second waitress during busy Friday lunches and can't afford to give customers a decent slice of sashimi, they need to move on... read more

Four years ago this was the go to place in Yucaipa. Sadly it no longer is. The food is poor quality, bland and nasty. The little bit of fish you do get is cut so thin it is nearly translucent. Service is slow to nearly non existent. Not sure what has happened to make this place tank but I would be highly surprised if it stays open much longer. Better options in town. read more

My wife and I ate here for dinner. The Place: location was hidden, as it was behind a Rite-Aid. The interior and decor of the place was pretty good with comfortable seating and pretty decent size tables. The Food: was great. Nothing really bad to say, everything looked fresh was presented nicely and tasted good. The food was also made pretty fast. The Bad: The only bad thing about this place was when we ordered our 2nd round of the all you can eat.. This was after the 4 rolls we order during the 1st round. On the 2nd round we ordered 3 more rolls as we were still kind of hungry, but we couldn't finish two of the rolls completely but we're told that we needed "to finish a little bit more of the rolls or we would be charged for them at full price".. This was very shocking. My wife and I felt like we were little kids and we couldn't leave the table until we finished our vegetables... safe to say we will not be back. read more

While I have nothing negative to say of the food (the Dragon Balls are amazing!), the service leaves something to be desired. My boyfriend and I have been coming to this place for a while, but after the way we (and some friends that were in tow) were treated this weekend, we won't be coming back. This place offers all-you-can-eat sushi, which implies just that--you eat as much as you like until you're full, for a fixed price. On this particular visit, our eyes were bigger than our stomachs and we ended up ordering a little too much food. When it came time to pay the bill, the waitress informed us, rather aggressively, that she was going to charge us extra for the uneaten rolls. If we had been buying by the roll, I might have understood, or at the very least, if signs had been posted warning patrons that they will incur an extra charge for uneaten food. At Sushi Asahi in Riverside, there are signs posted everywhere that say this, so you know up front to be very cautious when selecting what rolls you want. When you offer all-you-can-eat, I would assume that you've made careful calculations about how much your ingredients cost and estimate how much one person can eat and come up with a fixed price from there. To say it's all-you-can-eat and then turn around and charge extra is false advertising. I hope that extra $18 was worth it, Tokyo, because you just lost four customers. read more

We strolled in at the height of lunch hour (11:30a-noon) but there were no more than four customers seated. Perhaps that should have been the tip-off. A well-maintained fish tank next to the sushi bar gave the place a fancy, upscale feel; the booths comfortable and inviting, I decided to give it a try. My companion who had eaten there before insisted I try the "All You Can Eat" Sushi Buffet. It seemed pricey but I conceded. First course served: salad with mystery green dressing - and by green I do not mean edamame green or anything within the realm of normal - it look food-colored bordering radioactive. It tasted pretty good though so I conciously had to overlook the color to finish my salad. The sushi ordering menu was rather well organized into 1st 2nd and 3rd courses. We happily ate our sushi until the waitress sushi police came by to alert me that we were leaving too much rice. "Buffet does not include sashimi (for those who may not know - sashimi is the raw fish slices without the rice)" she says. "We charge the cost of sashimi if you leave rice." Wow. We spent the remainder of lunch conveniently dropping grains of rice on our seat, under the table... where ever we could. How easily a relaxed sushi lunch buffet could turn into a stressful ordeal. Later that evening, all of us who ate here came down with a bad stomach ache. =( Lesson learned. read more

it's basically known for AYCE. went on a saturday night, it was dead....... yes saturday night at like 7 pm.... anyways, rolls were good , service was sub par, after first order was done we couldnt get a waitress to help us reorder, so , meh we decided we were going to leave, except we couldn't get a check....... we hung around another 10 minutes just for entertainment purposes... then walked to the counter and finally someone helped us... you can tell this place is ran by new owners , or the owners just quit giving a crap about their establishment... btw the ambiance was interesting, a white chef and a mexican chef, talking to each other loudly while we tryed to eat about their own personal lives....no authenticity barely professionalism... Wow, where do I start! I came here with a few friends during the week and we all had AYCE sushi dinner. For starters, the fried pieces of shrimp that went inside the rolls tasted like freezer. On top of that our orders would take way too long to come out to us. There were only two tables occupied that day which was ourselves, 3 people, and another party of 4. Each round would take 25+ minutes to come out. The portions were so small, and you couldn't really properly pick up the sushi with the chop sticks because they would fall apart. The ginger was very dry and rubbery. The miso soup was lukewarm. The service was so-so. I won't be coming back. read more
