Japonica is relatively new - opened on April 8th! They have a really nicely decorated, serene space. Originally we wanted to try mommafish - more poke style, but I think they may have rebranded themselves as Japonica. Their space is relatively big - both indoor and outdoor seating, small and large seats available. We stopped by around 1PM on a Saturday (Farmer's Market is actually right next door if you wanted to check that out too) and there was a few people there. A pretty intimate setting. Ordering is done at the counter, they provide you with a number card, and you're free to sit wherever there's an open space. Between my partner and I, we ordered a Seared Tuna Bowl and a 100% Real Crab Cali Roll. I'm not usually one to opt for Cali rolls, but the Blue Crab sounded delicious. We also got the Cantaloupe Spritzer and the Yuzu Lemonade. Both entrees were pretty delicious. Everything was really fresh. For the Seared Tuna Bowl, the ginger dressing they poured on top of the Ahi Tuna slices paired deliciously. The tuna slices had a seasoned, crusty outer layer, but was still raw otherwise. Neither the sauce and seasoning was overwhelming. I really enjoyed the seaweed salad it came with too. It's not the usual vibrant (almost neon) green seaweed salad you can find at Costco, but the kind that looks more real. Not sure how to describe the difference other than how it looks, but it was refreshing! The cucumber was simple and added a different kind of refreshness and crunchiness to the overall mix. As for the Cali roll, that was better than any other Cali roll that I've tried. There's a kind of bite you get with real shredded crab meat and you definitely get that with this roll. You don't taste much of the avocado mayo, but it does glue all the ingredients in the roll together. Rice to ingredient ratio is on point! You get more ingredients than you get rice, which is how it should be in my opinion. As for drinks, they were really generous with their portions of it. Neither of the drink was overly sweetened by syrup, but the flavor of the cantaloupe really came through in the Spritzer. As for the Yuzu Lemonade, it was refreshing and light. A delicious, great meal overall. We're glad we stopped and tried Japonica and we definitely recommend it to people looking for fresh sushi or a light lunch.

My husband and I went to Japonica on Saturday night for the first time and we had such a good time. The food was amazing. I ordered a spicy tuna roll and my husband had fresh crab California roll. Mine was very yummy and I tasted one of my husbands and I loved it. You could really taste the fresh crab. We also split a special bowl, which I don't think is on the menu, but it had a little bit of everything in it. It had yellowfin tuna, sashimi, shrimp, a little crab on a bed of seaweed salad, and rice underneath. It was big enough to split. We also shared the jellied coffee dessert. I'm not sure what is called, but I'm not sure I liked the texture of the jelly cubes. The taste was good though. The service was a little slow initially getting to us, but after that, Lily was great. She kept checking on us to make sure everything was OK and it was. The ambience was cozy and they did a great job refurbishing the Restaurant. We will be back! I told my husband, feels like we're in the Bay Area again. lol! It's nice to have a good restaurant on the island. Much appreciated.! P

After we sat down, we ordered 2 Shoyu, 1 spicy miso, and 1 Shrimp Tan Tan. Tan Tan: The broth for Tan Tan tasted clean and not greasy as it does not contain meat. It had a spicy kick to the broth which I loved. There were 4 shrimps that were perfectly cooked, not dry. Spicy Miso: the broth also had a kick to it. This broth was a bit thicker than Tan Tan's as the ramen contains meat. It wasn't greasy and salty. Shoyu: this broth is the thickest and heaviest. A bit greasy but not too greasy. All ramen weren't salty and were delicious even for non-ramen lover like myself. We will be back!

Nestled behind the main walking areas, you can follow the street signs to this restaurant. We arrived just before they opened for the evening from 4:30pm. It is not a large restaurant but we were early. Bright and cheerful interior with shelves of Japanese sweets and some souvenirs on the side. Our favorite and go-to is the tonkotsu which has the thicker pork bone broth. We have not visited for a year or so and the price has gone up while the volume seemed to have gone down. Nevertheless the taste was great and we were satisfied with the meal.

I'd actually say that this is the best casual (non-omakase/chef's choice) sushi I've had in the greater Seattle area. Their special rolls are creative and delicious, and I've since tried their sashimi as well which is super fresh. Their appetizers (we got the Inari Bomb and the ika geso karaage) were fantastic. All the rolls and appetizers here were an explosion of flavor IMO, but not too rich that it became unappetizing later. Highly recommend stopping by, it's underrated for sure! Sushi Koushi is a tiny spot tucked inside the mall -- the place was pretty clean, nothing too fancy about it. We ordered Green Tea, Unagi Nigiri, Jalapeño Bombs, Dragon Roll, and the Koushi Roll. Let me start by saying -- everything we ordered was pretty amazing! A note: We are a pretty hard family to please when it comes to sushi. So far, we've only had one go-to sushi place for the past five years. This one? Even my daughter loved it. The flavors were beautifully balanced -- nothing was too overpowering. The quantity was more than sufficient for a family of three. Usually at other places, we end up ordering one more roll, but not here! I especially loved the Koushi Roll, which had seared salmon -- absolutely delicious. For the Jalapeño Bombs, we requested they replace the tuna with crab, and it was perfect for our taste buds. Needless to say, my daughter finished most of them! The service was really quick -- we were in and out within 40 minutes, which is impressive for the amount of food we ordered. Overall, a really nice and pleasant experience. Super glad we tried this one out -- highly recommend!

Good spot, large dining room so you don't feel cramped, service was great. The wooden partitions and traditional Japanese design elements create a cozy space that is both elegant and relaxed. It is the kind of place where you can take your time and actually enjoy the experience, not just the food. What really stood out to me was the freshness and presentation. You can literally see the quality at the sushi bar, with beautifully cut fish displayed right in front of you. It immediately builds trust and anticipation. I ordered a mix of items, and everything felt thoughtfully prepared. The crispy rolls we had were perfectly balanced, with a light crunch on the outside and very fresh, flavorful fish on top. The textures were just right, not greasy, not heavy, just clean and satisfying. The crab tempura roll was also excellent, with a nice crispiness and generous portions. One of my favorite parts was how vibrant everything looked. The colors, the plating, the little details like the garnish and sauce all showed care and attention. It did not feel like standard sushi you can get anywhere, it felt curated. The menu itself is also really interesting. There are classic options, but also more elevated dishes like uni, toro selections, and specialty items that make the experience feel a bit more premium without being intimidating. You can go simple or explore more refined flavors depending on your mood. Service was smooth and pleasant. Nothing felt rushed, and everything came at a good pace. It made the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. Overall, this is definitely a spot I would come back to. It hits that perfect balance between quality, atmosphere, and price. Whether you are going for a casual sushi night or something a bit more special, Kazoku delivers. Highly recommend. I felt like I was in Japan. I miss Japan .

It definitely had that umami flavor but the shrimp and egg were very overcooked. The soup was boiling hot when I received it, the egg was hard boiled, not poached and the shrimp tempura was tough and rubbery. The variety of ingredients impressed me though. The fish cake, fried tofu, mushrooms, and pea crisps were delicious and flavorful! I would get this dish again, because it truly did taste good, I just wish they'd out the shrimp and egg into the broth later so that they didn't come out overcooked. Loved the vibe here, food was good.. this place has a good thing going!

I was a little afraid when I saw Jamaican because I actually have a sensitivity to black pepper of all things which usually means I can't eat anything that has jerk in the name which is what my mind immediately went to. These mussels, however, were so delicately flavored, but also so intensely flavored with the mixture of Jamaican spices and coconut milk and with some fresh fruit like mango added in. It was absolutely phenomenal. My mom got the crabcakes entree which comes with a salad. Their Caesar dressing is definitely homemade. It made me close my eyes in ecstasy. Then my cousin got the garlic, shrimp prawns - I think that's what it was called. He said his dish was absolutely delicious as well. The view is right on the water and the staff were attentive and friendly. I will keep bringing friends and family who visit here over and over so I get to experience it again too!
