We came on a Sunday night with a reservation. While I was seated I overheard people being told the wait might be 30minutes or more. So I would recommend placing a reservation especially if you have a larger party. They have limited seating inside, but outside seating is available. We ordered lots of food and everything was very fresh. The chicken Katsu with curry was very delicious as well. I personally ordered the Tonkotsu Udon with Char Siu, and unfortunately the char siu came out extremely burnt. I sent it back and they replaced them and offered an extra piece. The broth itself was not bad, it was not too salty, but since they specialize in sushi, I will say the depth of the broth is lacking. Finally in terms of price, it was on the pricier side for sushi places. $20+ for sushi rolls. Definitely a great place if you are looking to splurge on a nice meal! read more

Top notch service Food all around our table was fresh and delicious. I had pork katsu with curry gravy and it came with miso soup and grilled broccoli and rice. Husband had sashimi and everyone else had sushi rolls that they all raved about. We also had cocktails including pink lady, margarita, sake, and whiskey sour I believe which were all again very good and well presented. So I have been here two times already. It's a nice looking place. I think the next door Mexican restaurant is the owner of this place to. We arrived for a late lunch and most everyone was seated outside. I like being cool so inside it was. They were going to seat us on a 2 person table even though there were only 2 of us I asked to sit at a 4 person table which she did. The waiter came over and was pushing some special fish they were making but I didn't want it. I heard him push it to the other table that came in later . I got the Chirashi Don which is what I got last time. Each Japanese restaurant does it differently and I liked it here. I love the raw sushi so this gets me a lot of different cuts on one dish. I wanted the oysters since they have Kumamoto's but they were out of them. Oh well next time . you know I love them oysters. My wife got the salmon lovers roll and it was good too. Thrilled to have discovered an authentic sushi gem so close to home! When I saw that it was in Tahoe Park, I was expecting more of a no-frills, hole-in-the-wall vibe but Tokyo Table is anything but. Just a few blocks from Bacon & Butter, it's a stylish spot with warm wood-accented decor and a lovely shaded patio that makes for the perfect elevated-casual summer dining experience. I was especially impressed by their nigiri selection, which included sea bream, hamachi otoro, amberjack, horse mackerel, golden red snapper, and several rotating specials. For non-sushi eaters, there's a solid variety of grilled and fried fish and meat dishes. They also have a thoughtful kids' menu with options like onigiri, spam musubi, and a rice plate-and-miso soup combo--likely why we saw more families with young children than you'd typically expect at a sushi restaurant. The special rolls were another highlight: fresh, clean-tasting, and not too drowned in sauce, allowing the ingredients to shine. With over 30 rolls--about half of which feature tempura--there's plenty of incentive to return and explore more. The only downside was the slow service, which seems to be a common theme in other reviews. We were seated outside kinda out of view and ended up having to flag down another staff member to place our order. It looked like they were understaffed--our server was also acting as hostess--but she was friendly, apologetic, and the food still arrived in a timely manner. Overall, Tokyo Table might just be one of my new favorite local sushi spots! Bonus that it's not located in Midtown so I don't have to fight for my life to parallel park (there's a small rear lot and ample free street parking in the surrounding neighborhood). Since they're still relatively new, I'm hopeful that the service kinks will be worked out and efficiency will be improved. Loved this spot. Nice patio and indoor seating. Cozy, yet modern. I took my mom for her birthday. My mom said one of their rolls is the best roll she has ever had. Everything we tried was excellent. I think it rivals/is an even match with Kru as the top sushi restaurant in the Sacramento area. Rolls are unique, light, and flavorful. You don't get bogged down by lots of sauces and having the same few ingredients in the roll (sorry Mikuni, yes I am talking about you.) They serve alcohol. Great service. My parents have come here like four times, always texted us kids right after that we have to go check it out. Well, we finally did! Came here for my uncles bday. I called two days before and they had no problem accommodating a party of 10 with some babies/toddlers. This might be one of my new favorite spots in sac. It's smaller and intimate with a nice patio area and heaters. The inside is modern with decor. The staff was so incredibly sweet from the moment we walked in. They honestly had the best customer service ive had in years. Fanny was our main server and she was so on top of everything. Now for the food: We ordered the Lychee martini - SO GOOD. We had multiple bc they were addicting. As far as food goes, we got, their sashimi appetizer. It had such cute presentation and was so good. We also got a classic edamame. We got the sunshine roll (super fresh), the fireball roll (so so so good!!), the broadway (also good!), the V1 (vegan roll - might be my second fav behind the fireball honestly). We ordered the salmon and chicken teriyaki and the protein servings were so large. Definitely worth the price. Their ramen was a fan favorite as well. Would love to come back and try more apps!! I've been to Tokyo Table in Sacramento three times now, and every visit has been consistently impressive. I've worked my way through a good portion of the menu -- the Pepperfin, Seasteak, Wacko Taco, spicy edamame, hamachi kama, gyoza, calamari, miso soup, Sake and O-Toro maki roll, uni hand roll, and the large sashimi mix -- and the quality never misses. The fish is always fresh, rich, and full of flavor, and the cooked dishes are just as good. The restaurant itself is clean and has a great atmosphere. The service is attentive without being pushy, and the staff always makes you feel taken care of. Even the music adds to the experience with a super chill playlist of covers that sets a relaxed vibe. It's not often I go try new Japanese places. I stick to my tried and true things because I know what to expect. Tokyo Table is new in Tahoe Park, and I figured I should give the local Japanese place a shot. It's walking distance from my house, a plus. It's dog friendly. They have water bowls ready, AND they'll serve your dog a bowl of grilled chicken. They want to encourage folks to bring their (well behaved) pups. We ordered the edamame, spam musubi, poke salad, UCD, Salmon Lovers, and the Tsunami. The Tsunami blew me away. The flavors all worked so well together, and the torching took it right over the edge. The Salmon Lovers felt like a simple, and clean roll. UCD was also quite delicious, even though I'm not a huge fan of spicy/jalapenos. The spam musubi stole the show as an appetizer. Edamame was just okay. Could do without, or maybe try the spicy garlic one in the future. Overall, all of the food was fresh and delicious. We had a bike ride after, so we didn't try any drinks but they sure looked yummy. Service was fast and attentive. We were in and out, but we never felt rushed. I think most people think of Kru as the standard for good sushi at a higher price point, and Tokyo Table is on par with that. Will definitely come back. read more

My husband and I tried to go here on a Saturday night. I called in advance to try and put our name down or make a reservation but they said they were already booked for the night. We got there around 6:30 and they said it would be at least an hour and a half wait. They let you put yourself on the waitlist, but we didn't have time to wait that long so we went somewhere else. I asked them about reservations and they said if you call a week or so in advance you can get a reservation. Fast forward a few months and I called to make a Tuesday night reservation for 4 outside. It was easy to make a reservation and when we arrived we were the only people seated outside. Our waitress came over immediately and was eager for us to order. Since we were the only ones out there, the service was amazing. However, once it started getting busier it was harder to get her attention. It ended up taking us 15 minutes to get our bill once we were ready. The food is amazing and so fresh! We started with the tempura vegetables, agadeshi tofu, and the kaarage chicken. The kaarage chicken was my favorite! Then we ordered the sunomono salad, the Sactown roll, the salmon lovers, and the east sac role. They were all really good but the Sactown roll was my favorite! The inside of the restaurant isn't huge, in fact they might have more outdoor seating than inside seating. The outdoor patio is huge and it;s all completely covered. The heaters weren't on that night, but they had them which would be great once it gets colder. Looking forward to going back! read more

We have visited Tokyo Table twice now and loved our food both times. Everything is extremely fresh, and they have a wide selection of items to choose from. What I really think they need to improve on is their timing of when they bring their dishes out. The first time I came here, it was with a party of 4. They brought out our entrees at inconsistent times. My plate arrived 20 minutes after our the rolls came out, so everyone was already done eating (I didn't want them to wait because their food would get cold). This is terrible considering you want to enjoy your meal with your group. The second time I came here was with a party of 8, and we experienced the same timing issues with our food. Half of our tables food came out, all hot entrees. 10 minutes later, half of our rolls came out. Another 15 minutes later, the last of our rolls came out. This restaurant really needs to fix this, it cannot be that hard to time out entrees correctly so everyone at 1 table gets their food at the same time. 20-30 minutes for all of your food to arrive at your table from when your first plate is given to you is just ridiculous. Even though their food is really good, I'm debating returning because of this. They are also on the pricier side (I get it because their food is extremely fresh and good) but if I'm paying $50/person to eat dinner, I expect to be able to enjoy my meal with my entire group. read more

First off....loved the ambiance. It us nicer casual ambiance, with good acoustics. A relaxed Japanese decor setting, I could hear my wife, she could hear me....other guests were here but it was not overwhelming. Very relaxed, and staff were very friendly. We ordered too much food....but we were celebrating a birthday. The lobster balls appetizer was perfectly fried....and it was actual lobster...a good chunk of it. My wife enjoyed her fried tofu appetizer as well. I ordered as a main the mackerel. Very well cooked....apparently, a sushi place that can COOK their fish. . To their credit, most Japanese places phone it in when it comes to their miso soup....but theirs tastes hot and fresh...and NOT overrated. She liked her Broadway sushi roll. She wasn't fond of actual lemon pieces in the roll, bit said everything else was good and fresh. I mean, due to being immunocompromised, I can't eat sushi. Went here after a buddy said this spot was better than kru! Took the family here for lunch on a Saturday! This spot is the Tahoe park area and when I looked on Yelp, it got a lot of great reviews! When we arrived, parking was either street or the small parking in the back. It was actually really busy for lunch and they do have outdoor and indoor seating. The outdoor seating actually holds more customers than indoor. When we arrived, we had a choice of waiting 20 minutes for outdoor or be seated at the sushi bar or at a smaller table, and when you have a hungry 4 year old, you have to take what's available fastest, so we took the small table for 2 and added a chair for My four year old. I wasn't the happiest, but whet can you do. Inside has a modern feel with a nice open sushi bar, 2 tvs for sports.... But honestly, it wasn't the most child friendly (indoor dining for a 4 year old). Service was pretty good, nice and friendly staff. We wanted to offer a variety of food! 1) tonkatsu ramen- average... broth was hot but lacked a little flavor.... I did like the tempura it came with (broccoli, shrimp, sweet potato, pumpkin, onion, and zucchini) Noodles were cooked pretty good but it was nothing special 2) chicken curry katsu- pretty good but the curry flavor wasn't as strong as other Japanese curries... and it had corn, zucchini, spinach in it which was different then other curries.... And it needed More chicken katsu.... They didn't give a lot of Chicken. 3) calamari- needed to be fried a little more, batter was a little chewy but It was a good amount of calamari. 4) fireball roll- it was really good, I love deep fried rolls and I substituted the fish for shrimp tempura and asparagus and it was good! It was a heavy roll but it was really good! More on the spicy side because of the jalapeño but it was overall very flavorful. Overall, food was pretty good, different from Kru so can't really compare, different styles and flavors. We started off with the pan fried gyoza which was pretty close in quality to the ones we recently had in Tokyo. Tried the Chasui Udon which had an amazing broth, the meat was a little bit overcooked but still tasty, and the noodles were authentic. The UCD roll was really fresh and the right amount of spicy. There is a shared parking lot in the back, but I found a spot in the neighborhood. The interior is nice and the exterior feels zen with the bamboos. The restaurant is small, but there is outside seating available as well. The menus are on paper, which is generally fine. The one I was given had a food stain on it though. Service was good. The food came out quickly, my water was refilled, and empty dishes were taken away quickly. On to the most important part- food. There are a lot of options and it was hard for me to narrow down what I wanted. All the food was presented nicely. We started with the mixed tempura and grilled squid. The broccoli tempura tasted a bit mushy inside, but the shrimp and onion ring I had were good. I prefer the grilled squid though. My bf ordered the grilled saba while I ordered two rolls- East Sac (hamachi/salmon) and Tsunami (albacore/ escolar). I enjoyed both rolls, except for the fact that the rice was mushy. The tsunami didn't have much of a torched flavor either. There is room for improvement, but overall it's a place I would recommend. read more

I have heard good things about Tokyo Table so we went to check it out with some friends. We arrived right at opening on a Sunday, so we quickly got a table for 6. They have an outdoor covered patio as well, which would be lovely on a warmer day! Service was great. Everyone was very friendly and informative. There were so many delicious things on the menu, it was so hard to narrow down. There is something for everyone - even a kids menu! The whole back side of the menu has their list of specialty sushi rolls. My husband and I decided to share three rolls, which was perfect. We were full but not overly stuffed. -TT: I was most excited about this one because it was the only spicy roll we got, but it actually ended up being my least favorite. The roll itself was too wide so it's a bit awkward to eat. It had a good amount of spice but otherwise nothing special and I'd skip this one next time. -Kings: My favorite of the three, it had good flavor and I liked the crunchy chili garlic on top. -Broadway: My second favorite! I liked the creamy garlic sauce and the lemon in this one. We also tried the sakefin appetizer, which tasted very fresh and again had that crunchy chili garlic that I enjoyed. The ponzu sauce was so good that I kept it as a dipping sauce for the sushi rolls. I liked it a lot but probably wouldn't get it again because it's more expensive than some of the actual sushi rolls. The chicken karaage was filling, and I loved the zigzag sauce it came with on the side! The spicy edamame is a classic choice too, and I appreciated that they served it warm. Overall great experience here and I can understand why they have high praises so far! It is definitely on the pricier side but it's a more casual modern feel. Parking is pretty tight in their parking lot, but plenty of street parking behind the restaurant. Kumamoto oysters (6)- dressed perfectly and super fresh Karaage chicken- crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside! A decent amount, too. Salmon lovers roll (avocado on the side)- my new favorite roll anywhere! Generous fish ratio and the lemon zest makes the whole dish so bright Power of E roll- it's got a lot of sauces but they work so nicely together!
