All I can say is - wow! This was my first time visiting Victoria and while staying for a few days I realized pretty quickly the small town didn't boast too many unique options. However, every time I searched or asked about a place to try, Dairy Treet came up. The original location was not far from my hotel so I stopped just to try the ice cream and fries to see what all the hype was about. Well, I get it!! The ice cream had such an authentic milk flavor to it and was the perfect consistency and flavor, you can tell they've been serving it up exactly the same from day one. It was so good, in fact, I went back the very next day to try more! The steak fingers weren't the typical texture and fry you see on most, but felt more like a Salisbury steak (in a great way) and the gravy was the star of the show. Top off the food with a vibe that sets you right back to the 50's with the lovely architecture and tunes playing while you wait/eat - Dairy Treet is a treat for sure! I live two hours away and have already made up my mind that the drive every once in a while would be worth it! read more

I grew up in Victoria, left for college, and my Daddy is still there. I love it when we get home for a visit. During out most recent trip, I "treeted" my husband and youngest daughter to Dairy Treet. Talk about a flood of memories! As we sat there eating in the car, I "thrilled" them with "back when" stories. The burgers were just so good, rave reviews from the newbies. I love that it simply has not changed much at all. Walking up to the window and seeing them pull the rope? I just smiled! The ice cream flavors on the wooden signs reminded me of holding my daddy's hand when I was too young to read, looking up at the signs and getting excited as he read what they had. My daughter got an chocolate/vanilla cone for dessert and my husband and I opted for the lemon sherbert. You know how tastes can just transport you back in time? It did...there is just something about Dairy Treet ice cream and sherbert that is just so uniquely delicious and different. It is hard to put into words but I know some of you are reading this and nodding your head. Thank you Dairy Treet for not changing a darn thing! IMO this is the best burger in town. I don't know if they still fo it, but when I worked here in the early 80s they ground their own beef in the back. A butcher would carve off big hunks of lean beef and they would have to add the fat. That is why patties sometimes have holes-- less fat. If you come here you might as well go all in for the Jalapeño burger cheese all the way which only comes in Jumbo because they place chopped peppers between two patties and pinch it like a pie before grilling to perfection. Ice cream was mediocre at best. Had an odd coconut flavor (but I got choc and vanilla twist). More similar to frozen yogurt than ice cream.

These are some of the best Texas style burgers in this part of the state. Juicy patties and nicely toasted buns. You could not ask for more. You must stop here when in Victoria. read more

This place was super good. Didn't realise until we started eating that we'd just beat the evening rush. Got fam in Victoria but this is the first time we've been. So glad we did! Got a juicy JUICY burger, with some steak fries (yes, pieces of meat country fried). Fries, Onion rings and a cherry vanilla shake - won't be doing the shake again. I love America but that was diabeetus in a cup. It's been there since the 60s apparently, and the staff are great at getting out the fresh food. Stay classy Victoria! read more

My kiddos love Dairy Treet for the strawberry malts. My dad loves Dairy Treet because he remembers when you could buy a big, juicy burger with a shake for $0.25. I wouldn't say these are the best burgers in the area; We aren't in Dairy Treet's glory days. The employees are more concerned about getting the food out the window than creating a nostalgic experience. They still have good burgers, though, and I've never had anything from Dairy Treet that was BAD. Just... Not phenomenal. Still, we will always patronize the place when we're on that side of town, if for nothing else than to hear PawPaw talk about the good ol' days. read more

BEST.BURGERS.EVER. I grew up on Dairy Treet hamburgers and pretty much lament every day that I live in DC, far, far away from the buttery goodness. And crinkle fries!!! Ahhhh, the crinkle fries. *tear* Get a burger, fries, shake/malt. Then go back and get the steak finger basket and another shake/malt. You won't be sorry. This is only a drive-in, though. You can sit in your car and eat, but no one's going to bring it to you. It's totally old school. And awesome, of course. read more

The one star is due to the amount of time it took to get our order out. We called ahead at 7:50 PM, and just now got our food. A whole hour to get food out is beyond ridiculous. I understand places get busy, but they didn't even apologize for the long delay when I got my food the worker seemed irritated and over it. This is why small businesses suffer because of its customer service and the employees. Hopefully the second location gets it right. read more

Favorite burger anywhere, Quality meat and the flavor is great. Their chili dog is one of the best I've had anywhere also. I like their crinkle cut fries and their milkshakes and malts are great. We were driving through Victoria and asked a friend who had grown up here for a recommendation for a burger joint. She sent us to Dairy Treet. It looks neat and vintage and you walk up, order from a window, and they call your number when it's ready to be picked up. So ok. We asked her for a "burger" joint and then ordered things that weren't burgers. I got a steak sandwich and onion rings. My fiancée got a chili cheese dog, a cheese burger, and tater tots. Our first reactions? For waiting as long as we did for that food, it was NOT HOT. It was barely lukewarm. This was about 1:00 or 1:30 on a Wednesday afternoon. They were not very busy. We dug in anyway. The first thing out of the bag was the chili cheese dog and it looked promising but my fiancée says, "Sonic is better." The one from Dairy Treet just didn't have very much flavor. I got into my steak sandwich next. Again, lack of flavor. The breading was kind of mushy and I should have asked but I just assumed there would be mayo or something on it and there wasn't. I didn't finish it. The tater tots were ok but would have been better HOT. The onion rings were TERRIBLE. It was like they had been frozen and thawed and microwaved. Gross gross gross. I threw them away too. Finally, my fiancée unwrapped the cheeseburger and that was by far the best thing we ordered. It was gooey and greasy but nothing spectacular. We definitely wouldn't have been AS disappointed though if we would have ordered all burgers. All in all, we decided we should have just gone to Whataburger. We KNOW that's gonna be good. If I remember correctly, Dairy Treat got voted best or second best burger in Victoria, Tx. This is true. Their good ole fashioned burgers and milk shakes are classic. So juicy and fresh. However, their fries taste like Ore Ida to me and their parking lot can get awkward sometimes considering it is an old fashioned park, get out, and order kind of place. read more

I have loved drive up ice cream joints since I was a child. This one has all the trappings that pulled me in, but the ice cream on my chocolate sundae wasn't really soft, and the cherries and chocolate sauce tasted less than first rate. I was disappointed. I will be back, though, to try the lunch/dinner food, because numerous customers came up to order sandwiches while I was there.
