Cute vibe inside with beautiful color accents and lots of space for large groups. The restaurant looks small from the outside, but actually has a second floor. We stopped by for Sunday brunch and were quickly seated near the bar. I was pleasantly surprised at how many vegan/vegetarian options they have. I ordered the vegetarian tacos. These were okay, but could have been better with more than a tiny slither of beans and perhaps plantains on the side because they were too big for the tortilla. Also, the portion size was so small. Still hungry after the two tiny tacos. Definitely order another appetizer or main dish. My friend also got a dish with an egg and felt it was small. Mimosas were standard. Staff were friendly. Convenient location near the Theater district. I'd come back to try the main dishes & skip small apps.

The mighty wings were absolutely incredible! I wanted 10 orders of them, but attempted to have some self control. Our server was attentive and super helpful throughout the night! We enjoyed all of the gluten free options and how fresh the food was! The restaurant was also so aesthetically pleasing! The ambiance was amazing and we will definitely be back!

My cousin and I made reservations after work. Upon arrival, we were notified that our reservations for the lounge were changed due to a private event, we were seated in the dining room. The ambiance was nice and the bar was cute. I ordered the Vegetarian Impossible Burger, Vegan Roasted Cauliflower (no pic), Vegan Guac and Chips, Cucumber Gin and Tonic and a Mojito. The guac and chips were very tasty, the burger was decent and the cauliflower is not something I would order again. The drinks were not good and I tried 3 different types to see if it made a difference, it did not.

Quinoa kale salad with surf n turf burrito

Ambiance is pretty cool. But not what I expected. For having a Latin flare on food, I expected to have some Spanish music playing in the background. Not the case at all, was top 40 mainstream English music. The food was actually quite delicious though! I ordered the Surf n turf burrito that came with a quinoa kale salad on the side. Again, not what I expected especially on the side of a burrito but it was good. The shrimp was fresh and not overcooked and the creamy sauce was very tasty. Now as far as the drink goes, do NOT order the mojito. It is a cardinal sin to not mull the mint and only have it as a garnish on the rim. It was just a simple mixed drink and did not have any sugarcane in it, either. Would not recommend at all. But, of course, I finished it. Otherwise that would be alcohol abuse. So, bottom line... delicious food, fast, and clean.

Cute place, good service, but the food was a little disappointing. I had the vegetarian tacos, and I found the plantain too sweet and too large putting acidic balance way off. The other elements the plantain were tasty. Would have been better with more avocado vs the plantain. My partner had some kind of a rap, and while it was decent food, it was not exceptional

You ever eat somewhere so cool, you really don't want to share it because it might ruin it? That's how I feel about this place. I came here for a solo dinner and just enjoyed the calm and cool vibe that exudes in the space. From the lighting to the decor and the staff, the mood is just right. The servers are nice but don't crowd you -they will offer recommendations if asked, but it's up to you to take them. I did go with their recommendation for the burrito and it was good along with the side salad (which had just a tad too much dressing). Now, let's talk about my drink. It's called an Adult Capri Sun - but they were able to make a spirit-free version for me. The fact that it came in a pouch and then had ice cubes that lit up was again just one of those factors that make you think - wow, I like this place. Come but only if you can appreciate what this place has to offer - food and a nice respite away from the bustle of Times Square.

Great vibe inside. Quiet and easy to talk. Nicely decorated and they even have the little cat robot server carts. Unfortunately the food itself is pretty mediocre and it's also very unclear as to what their specialty/focus is because the menu items are all over the place. We tried the Pho, which was very bland, and the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sandwich. Given the quality of other places in the area, I'd say I wouldn't recommend.

Stopped in for dinner before a show, and Carla first and foremost did that right - quick service, quick turnaround, and no worries about having to rush. The guacamole was tasty as a starter, and the frozen pina colada hit the right spot on a hot summer day. I had the chicken fajitas which were so delicious and cooked to perfection - plus a TON of food. My girlfriend had the surf and turf burrito and while she appreciated it didn't have much "filler" the texture was a bit mushy without the rice/beans you'd expect. The refills on water were always flowing without needing to ask. Wonderful spot right near the theaters.

Loved the vibes at Carla--great energy, stylish décor, and an atmosphere that feels both chic and relaxed. The drinks were spot-on and perfectly crafted. We started with the chips and guac (a must), then had the Pescado Tacos, which were super flavorful and fresh. Service was friendly and attentive. A perfect pre-Broadway stop--highly recommend.

Eclectic menu with Latin, Asian, and American entrées! I'm officially obsessed with their vegan kale quinoa salad - add the chicken for $8. The tomatillo lime vinaigrette is so good. I'm trying to replicate this dish at home. Guacamole as a starter was great as well. Everyone else at the table had sandwiches and everyone seemed to rave. All the cocktails we had were delicious. The bartender was so friendly. Great happy hour at the bar. They even have a robot delivering desserts to pe

Really tasty option with good flavors and plenty of vegan options. Loved the cauliflower, sweet potato fries. The kale and mushroom quesadilla was good. Highlight may have been the adult capri sun! So delicious and fun.

The bartender was rude and uninterested, standing 5 min+ at the bar without even being acknowledged. The DJ was underwhelming and the bathroom was vile. The most pleasant part was the below average $20 drinks. For an expensive, well-known spot, this was a very poor experience. The broccoli was really good for some reason to me. Also tried the truffle mac and cheese which was incredibly rich and tasted great. I've heard "Lunch at The Modern" so many times, one thing I was absolutely going to do during this…read moretrip to NYC was lunch at The Modern, and I'm so glad I did. Located at MoMA, The Modern is a 2 Michelin star restaurant hosting both fine dining, showcasing Chef Thomas Allan's cuisine, and a more casual dining experience in The Bar Room. The restaurant is gorgeous and has a giant glass wall overlooking MoMA's Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden, a lovely view. There is an abridged tasting menu of 3 courses, but we opted for the full chef's menu cause we didn't want to miss their signature "eggs on eggs on eggs" and after the supplemental charge, the price was close enough. - Hiramasa and sugar snap peas/crispy ham and cheese--simple and delicious, with the hiramasa being light and fresh and the ham and cheese providing a deeply savory contrast - Chilled lobster, shiso, and green radish--the lobster was cold and sweet but as a personal preference, I don't really enjoy bitter flavors and the slice of lemon under the radish threw it off a bit - Eggs on eggs on eggs--words cannot adequately describe the unctuousness of this dish, it's like eating rich, buttery velvet on a crispy, fluffy log of brioche. As a bonus, they bring you an extra toast to mop up all the tasty bits - Pumpkin seed sourdough and cultured butter--okay I totally didn't know this was meant to be eaten with the next dish so given total lack of self control in the face of pillowy fresh bread and perhaps the smoothest butter on the planet, I may or may not have eaten it all before the trout showed up... they were nice enough to give us more :') - Sea trout with clams and saffron shellfish broth--the fish was cooked to literal perfection and the clam and saffron sauce enhanced everything even more. This fights with the chicken dish for spot #2 in my favorites of this meal - Heritage chicken, provençal asparagus, vin jaune--this reminds me of the stuffed chicken from Per Se and was cooked just as well. The vin jaune sauce was slightly nutty with an incredibly rich flavor and also went well with the bread - Lamb saddle, romanesco, and lemon poached dates--for some reason I thought the chicken was the final savory course and I did not pace myself at all and was so full by this point. The lamb was tender and the date was a wonderful bite though - Wild strawberries and cacao--I can't remember what was all in this but I loved the little wild strawberries as they were like delicious strawberry gummies - Dark chocolate cremeux, meyer lemon, and espresso--delicious with interesting flavors, I haven't had many lemon, chocolate, and coffee combinations - Mignardises of raspberry, lemon coconut, cherry cheesecake--only one I tried was the cherry cheesecake bonbon but my husband ate 'em all so they must've been good lol The MVP of this meal was the melon lemonade mocktail, made with honeydew, jasmine, and pandan. Might be the most perfect drink for me ever made because it was melony with a subtle floral note from the pandan and jasmine, and only lightly sweet and tart, everything I love. Sooooo good! Service was pretty good up until we wanted to pay, and for some reason it became really difficult to find someone to close us out. We waited almost 20 minutes between the mignardises and finally being able to pay, even actively looking around trying to flag someone down. Despite The Modern not being the most innovative of meals, it's easily one of my all time favorites. I definitely prefer food that's executed well over food that's pushing boundaries, and may be back any time I'm in town.

Their entire operation seemed so incredibly focused, meticulous, and inspiring that we knew we had to try it. We started with the Iberico ham and the hiramasa tart, both incredible. Then came the chilled lobster, which was super fresh and refreshing, served with an amazing sauce that made me want to lick the plate clean. Every dish felt refined without being overly complicated. The service was extraordinary. You can immediately tell the front-of-house team is operating at an extremely high level and is aware of everything happening in the room at all times. At one point, my wife stepped away to use the restroom just as they were about to serve the first course. Without saying a word or making anything awkward, the staff simply looped around a couple of times until she returned. The moment she sat down, they resumed service seamlessly without missing a beat. That level of awareness and professionalism really stood out to us. Next came the rye bread, which was fresh and crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, paired with delicious butter. Then we had the sea bass with crab, which was phenomenal and one of my favorite dishes of the night. But the true star of the show for me was the lamb. My wife and I grill lamb racks often, and I genuinely had no idea this level of perfection existed. It was cooked flawlessly, and the sauce was absolutely incredible. If I was not in public, I probably would have been scraping the bone clean :) Big shoutout to one of the staff members, Stephanie, who completely made our night. We were telling her how excited we were to finally visit after watching the Bon Appétit video, and she casually asked if we wanted a tour of the kitchen after dinner. Honestly, I thought she was joking at first. Then she came back after dessert and reminded us. Even after paying the bill, I still thought maybe she was kidding, but then she walked over smiling and said, "Let's go." My wife and I were completely geeked out. Seeing the kitchen in person was surreal. It was exactly like the video: super meticulous, orders being called out and repeated in unison, everyone moving with total precision and purpose. You could see the Omega clock, the Michelin stars on the wall, and just the overall culture of excellence behind everything they do. We were honestly in awe. Thank you again, Stephanie. That experience meant so much to us. Every time we visit a fine dining restaurant for a special occasion, I always wonder whether it will truly live up to the hype. Some completely miss the mark. Some are very good. But none have delivered on every aspect the way The Modern did. This is officially our favorite restaurant in the world.
