    CHIPS AND GUACAMOLE

Love the vibes at La Esquina but I love the food even more. We came here and had to wait a few minutes for a table but went to ordering once we were sat. The shitake mushroom tacos and the cauliflower tacos were both excellent and the chips and guac were also delicious. Great option for simple Mexican food with lots of options and a great vibe!

A craving for margaritas led us here, a no-frills Mexican spot with diner seating and a bar. We sat in a booth and enjoyed the strong AC in July. The red sangria and original margarita were refreshing. Sadly, they don't have frozen margaritas. The guac and chips needed a bit more spice, but my wife loved the shrimp tacos. Our seven-year-old daughter enjoyed their rice and beans.

Came to La Esquina for lunch takeaway. Both me and my colleague ordered the checked tacos . I've eaten here a couple times and it's very consistent ! Very good tasting with solid hot sauce - looking forward to trying some other items next time .

Average food and service, limited vegetarian options. I didn't like the quesedias, the cauliflower taco was average. But overall a decent place for a casual bite.

We stopped here for a late lunch. It was delicious. We had the steak with chimichurri sauce and it was delicious. We added some black beans and sweet plantains. Everything was delicious. The service was great also. The only thing that we were a little startled about was the price. Everything seemed a little pricey, but, hey, we were in Midtown Manhattan.

Midtown can be a food dessert. My friend was djing MOMA and we needed come vegan options. Everything was over priced and stuffy or heavy and fast food in the area. Imagine my surprise when I noticed La Esquina opened a new location on 55th. Get outta town! Our savior! Tons of veggie and fish options for your truly. There was 6 of us on a Friday night at prime time and we snagged the perfect table upstairs. It was intimate and round so everyone could see each other. I loved it. It felt like it was waiting for us to arrive. I couldn't be happier with the service and the food. My vegan friends loved their cauliflower tacos. We devoured the guac and chips. I was smitten with my shrimp tacos and only $11.50 for 2. My spicy "Daisy" margarita hit the spot. Thanks to our lovely waitress for taking care of us. Gratuity was added for large parties and they deserved it. I will be back soon for more good times! Talk about after work hangs perfection!

Late night walkabout landed on 5 stars worth of: Queso dip with tons of flavor and chunks of carnitas. Chips freshly fried and Guac on the side. Two very nice tacos with fresh pressed corn tortilla's and perfectly topped with pickled onions & cilantro. Finished every bite with a simple margarita over ice and done old school with just lime juice and a dash of agavé syrup. Go for the salted rim it blends all the food nicely. I don't give many 5 stars out but if you want Mexican food in NYC the original La Esquina is the best setting but this diner style up norté in Manhattan does the trick.

The elote was awesome. Have never tried that before. Has a little bitter taste at the root. Love the cheese and spice to it. Super tasty! Have only seen these from Nacho Libre GET THAT CORN OUTTA MY FACE! Tacos were average and slightly overpriced for two tacos ($11.50). Better more decorated tacos for cheaper are at Los Tacos #1. We also got the shrimp tacos and they had a flavorful sauce that my girlfriend loved. I feel my tacos were just a lot of meat with no real flavor. LOVE the amount of meat, but it didn't have Guac or peppers or anything else that would be nice to add to the flavor and make it more food for my buck. Nice service. Took a while to flag down a waiter.

I went to La Esquina around lunch time one Sunday. Aside from the cook, there was one guy running the entire place. He had an entire restaurant of table inside and outside, he was bartending, hosting, running food, etc. I ordered the pollo rostizado and it was exceptional! It's a very cute restaurant as well, but unfortunately due to one poor guy running the place (no fault of his own), the service was a little lackluster. Granted I will say he wasn't slacking, and was busy the entire time, there were just too many tables for one person to handle. Otherwise it would have been 5 stars.

La Esquina is an authentic Mexican Restaurant, Taqueria and Tequila Bar. The servers were very cordial and genial. To drink I recommend the mezcalita which is a simple specialty cocktail with mezcal lemon lime and agave. To start I'd get the guac, which is homemade and fresh. It's served with some home style chips. My friend and I ordered three tacos: the pollo, Carne asada and carnitas. Our favorite had to be carnitas but I honestly thought all were very good. Prices are a great for a nyc restaurant!

The pepino diablo was absolutely delicious. The perfect amount of refreshing to spice. The fundido was also very good just overly sweet. Nice spot for a quick bite or drinks with friends!

This location I had never been to until a few days ago. I have been to the one downtown and on the upper east. This location had a very chill vibe to it. It has one or two other levels. We sat on the lower level. Our waiter was very friendly and took my food allergies into consideration. I was here with out of town family of mine and they also absolutely loved the vibe of the place and the food and drinks. We had chicken tacos, chips and guac and salsa, the awesome corn and some other kinds of tacos. They were blown away on how tasty the corn was. I have had the corn before but it was their first time. We had some drinks too that were a good size and strong. But also they were very tasty. I definitely recommend this location.

The seating was comfortable, making it an easy place to sit and enjoy the meal. I ordered the pernil, and the skin was, dare I say, perfect... crispy, flavorful, exactly what you want. Unfortunately, the meat itself was pretty lean and ended up a bit dry. The maduros were a bigger letdown; when I had them before, they were ripe and sweet, but this time they came out dry as hell. I sent them back, and to their credit, they took them off the bill without any issue. My friend enjoyed his Cuban panini, and while the pork chicharrón had a few off pieces, it was decent overall. So overall, I'd say this place can be really good, but there's definitely a consistency issue. When they get it right, it's excellent; it just doesn't seem to be that way every time.

Everyone agreed with my suggestion to eat Latin American food and we made a reservation at Buena Vista, not far away from our hotel and also not far from the theater. We came over a bit early, around 5:15 and were immediately seated. We were immediately impressed by the business model. It is a melange of Latin American and Iberian faire with exquisite curation. Their cocktails were absolutely delightful, I had a Pantalones en Fuego, others had an exquisite margarita with passion fruit flavor and a Daiquirí de Fresa, just amazing. Then we ordered interminable Hors d'oeuvres. Their ham croquetas and mushroom croquetas were the rage, as well as the tostoncillos ibéricos and ceviche limeño, The main courses followed, a paella valenciana for two, the magret de pato, a delicious duck dish, and a grilled Argentine parrilla. Not bad for four people. Dessert included churros and tres leches. And of course, a bottle of a great Verdejo. Service was just flawless. We had several staff members all contributing to making our Father's Day evening special. All around us it was festive, with plenty of well dressed Spanish speakers in several tables, and the accents of a half a dozen Spanish speaking countries. Plenty of gringoes too. A beautiful collection of diversity. We left happy, ready to see "Oh Mary" and wanting to return

Wagner was great a wonderful personality and he made sure everything was to our liking checking on us periodically. I have been here before (the first time we did assorted appetizers) so but this time I dove into the dinner menu. The oxtail pasta was absolutely lovely, the meat was tender and delicately seasoned. I had the steak (I prefer my steak more on the well side) and the chef managed to keep it positively tender and juicy. Perched on top of a few slices of fried casava slices and a small side salad. You can never leave without trying the flan it's one of the best I have ever had. Service was quick and food was bought to us piping hot. The only down side is they oddly don't make pina coladas (it's the only thing I drink) and the restaurant was a bit too cold but other than that it was a lovely birthday dinner for my friend. Buena Vista is small and popular so I strongly suggest you make reservations if you plan on eating here.
