It had a rather small amount of Italian beef as the ends of the French bread was showing on both sides. It was not worth the $$ we paid. Went to Mr. J's for lunch today 7/28 and WOWZER....the Italian beef & sausage that sandwich was HUGE!! T&J needs to take some pointers from Mr. J's. I'm posting a pic of Mr. J's sandwich.... The counter where you place your order is extremely confusing and backed up. People were not ordering on the kiosk, but neither did I because that's confusing also but there were lines on both sides people waiting for food people not knowing if they should step in front of other people to order a little crazy and hectic, but this was my first time ever visiting and I ordered the five dollar smash burger with fries and a drink and I cannot believe how impressed I was. The burger is definitely made fresh and so are the fries everything came out hot and it tasted good. I didn't eat the bun but lettuce, tomato pickle onion, and the beef patty were delicious. The burger was good. I usually get the gyro but I changed it up and didn't disappoint.

Recently put in a kiosk ordering. The couple next to me tried it and walked out without ordering. Another couple to my right gave up and ordered at counter. I stuck it out and ordered with kiosk. Service was very slow. Drive up is much faster. They forgot my drink and I had to wait at counter 5 minutes to get order right. Food was subpar and prices were high. I only got one of two sandwiches. They left out an entire patty melt then told me I could go in the "book" or apply to DoorDash for a refund. It wasn't DoorDash's mistake. Quite possibly the nicest, friendliest fast food employee's I've ever seen. I'm not joking, from the moment we walked in we were greeted and the gentleman who was managing struck up a conversation with us, and asked if we had any questions about the menu. He would later walk around the restaurant asking if everyone had what they needed and were satisfied. Class act. The menu itself has a whole lot to love so it took several minutes. My son decided to get a double cheeseburger and fries and I went with a couple of all beef hot dogs and fries. The proportions were huge, we walked out stuffed. We made this our Icehogs pregame dinner and it just might have to stay that way, as there are a bunch of other sandwiches here that I'd like to give a whirl. The food is good. We had cheeseburgers and fresh cut fries and curly fries. I preferred the fresh cut fries. My daughter also ordered the Oreo shake and it was pretty good. Today is literally the 3rd time in a row my Company has ordered from this establishment and they didn't give us a complete order. This place has to have the worst management ever. I'm so disgusted by how incompetent they are as a business. Not only will I never go here again, but the company I work at will no longer order from them again. Enough is enough. I was pleasantly surprised by the food. The burger was excellent and fries were very good. Everything was fresh. The two patties on the double burger were perfectly cooked and the cheese was melted. The crinkle fries were hot from the fryer and they were asking to be dipped in ketchup. The service was excellent too. Overall, a very goof burger and fries. Some good things, but not the burgers. They say on the menu that it's not frozen, angus beef patties. My mouth tells me something different. It has the wrong texture to be all beef. It tastes like there is soy filler, or possibly organ meat in there. Not good. I haven't had a burger that bad outside of third world countries. I should have known better and turned around and walked out but I didn't! I went to the counter and the guy just stood there and stared at me. He took my order but didn't listen to anything I said. The sandwich was wrong, I got the wrong type of fries and he put it to go even when I told him it was for here. Then instead of putting it in line for the cooks he just left it on the counter. Finally one of the ladies working there found it and gave it to the cooks. I used to eat here all the time when the previous owners had it but it has steadily went downhill since the new owners took over. It's been a while since we dined inside of Tom and Jerry's on E State. We got the gyro "meal," which consists of a large gyro that includes tomatoes ,onions, and tzikii sauce. Fries that were hot and crisp. It comes with a Greek salad with the Greek black olives, cukes, etc, Greek dressing, and a huge piece of feta. It is one of those places where you can order something and it will taste the same EVERY SINGLE TIME. Three, the people there are nice. :3c I have a very sensitive stomach and, for whatever reason, the food here hits like it's homecooked. So that's why I always eat here. My favorites are the chicken fingers, the hot dogs, and the gyros. I once ate the gyros here every day for two weeks. It never got old. THE SAUCE IS SO GOOD. Let's be honest, this is just another fast food shop with the same style of food as many others. Gyros, Italian beef, Burgers, Chicago Style hot dogs, etc. The thing that sets this place above from the rest is that they deliver. That's right, they deliver! I've only eaten in the restaurant a couple of times, mostly I get my food through delivery or take out. the food is what it is, fast, greasy, and comparable flavor to all of the other restaurants like it on the planet. The Reuben is good, but there are many better out there. Gyro's are decent, but not great. Hot dogs are hot dogs. So if you are looking for that meatball sub that will haunt you for the rest of your life as being perfect, you are not going to find it here. If you Just keep that in mind when you order here. Their driver left the restaurant without HALF my order and they called ME to call the driver and tell him to turnaround and get the rest of my order. ME! Not happy. Something has changed very recently. Old reviews, great, recent reviews not so great. Sept 30, 2021 - Rockford - I had a lukewarm cheeseburger with a stale bun, limp lettuce (which used to be shredded, not now) and a very small order of fries. Tasted like an OK microwave burger. The person I was with had an Italian beef sandwich and thought it was good. The new(er) drink machines in the Rockford and Machesney Park stores are not calibrated so soda tastes just like the carbonated water. Something has gone wrong at Tom & Jerry's. I believe it is fixable. I can pass at least five restaurants from any direction getting to any of the Tom & Jerry's. Give me a reason to not stop at those and make it to Tom & Jerry's. The portions are very generous (I got the Gyros sub and the Greek chicken sandwich.) The prices are fair. They were pretty hoppin' on a Thursday night, so I didn't think I'd be facing any surprises. The inside had some neat Chicago-roots decor items too. That said, the food was good, about what you should expect from a decent establishment of this cuisine.
