I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a while now. Every time we pass it, it's always super packed. We went to Tom Brown's at a great time because we were able to be seated right away. I do suggest that you make a reservation to be on the safe side. All in all the food, service, and the ambience were amazing. We ordered the Crab Claws, Seafood Gumbo, Redfish with Collard Greens, and Steak Dianne with Brussels Sprouts. Each dish was very tasty and filling. The only thing I didn't like was the size of the Redfish, but by the time I actually got to my entree, I was very full. I definitely will be back to try other items on the menu. read more

So I used to come here often. The last time I was here was about a year ago. We finally decided to come back and give it another try. The service was really good. The waitress recognized that we had a small kid and was very helpful with getting everything out as quick as she could. The mean green egg rolls were amazing! Now for the star reduction.... Cooking a steak right just doesn't happen here. The kitchen manager also seems clueless about how to cook a steak, when to take it off, and what a medium steak should even look like. I ordered my ribeye medium, it came out medium well to well done. They offered to make a new one, which came out purple..... Not even cooked all of the way through. So the waitress takes it back and a few minutes later she brings it back out. Same steak that I had already cut into. The steak was not only very try but again was very overcooked. It was medium well to well done yet again. And more or less she just said sorry about that and left the table. I paid almost $50 for a very dry and overcooked steak. And the reason why I haven't been there in close to over a year was this same issue multiple times before we decided to just go elsewhere. The place is well decorated. Awesome experience. Been wanting to try this place out for awhile now. I was able to get same-day reservations which was nice, and I'm glad I did because the dining room and bar both filled up pretty quickly! My server was attentive and informative. Food and drinks were delicious. I had raw oysters to start and wanted to try a craft cocktail, so I ordered and enjoyed a blood orange martini. For my main course, I had the 8 oz filet and swapped my potato for collard greens. My friend ordered the redfish which was also quite tasty. My steak was cooked perfectly per my request. Although I was quite stuffed, once that dessert tray walked by I knew I was done for. My friend ordered the creme brûlée and I had some sort of cake with berries and ice cream. Really enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant as well. Wow We have gone here 6 times in the last year. Won't be back! Snarky rude bartender. Ordered the filet/lobster special. Took awhile to get food and they forgot the lobster tail. Took another 15+ minutes to get lobster. Asked for manger . Then manger struts out with serious attitude and ask what's the problem. We explained and he says okay. Finally he asked if we don't want the lobster now ? We said no and he says ok, snatch es the lobster and heads back to the kitchen. Brought my (very picker eater) mom here last night and had a lovely experience! I'll be honest, the drink menu is what caught my eye initially, as they have lots of creative and delicious sounding drinks. But I was also really excited to see frog legs, gator bites and escargot on the menu. We made a reservation, although on a weeknight I'm not sure that was needed, and were seated right away. Our server was awesome! He was helpful, knowledgeable and was very assuring to my mom about her food sensitivities. The food was fantastic, the service was impeccable and it was a lovely experience over all. A+ experience. As much as it pains me to say it, this restaurant has such an imbalance from decor/expectation in experience to quality of food. It's absolutely stunning, (whoever decorates this venue needs to get an award), but once you sit down, the level of quality that you receive compared to what you expect just declines from there. The service is subpar, often slow and misinformed about the menu, the food is just OK, and it's not cheap. I am all about spending more than $200 on a night out for my husband and I, but not when we can cook better meals at home and not have meh service. It sucks as we want nothing more than to frequent this place often AND support local business, but it's hard to refer and/or plan to return when the cost is high what it is and the quality/service/taste is not great. read more

I came here tonight with a coworker after a long day of work. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the restaurant and the excellent quality of the staff. I am not an Alabama native, so I'm going to be honest and say I was a little worried about my food options around the area. I was glad to open up Yelp and see you such a beautiful and High class restaurant available. The food was absolutely amazing. My coworker and I decided to just order a whole bunch of apps and some drinks. out of everything I ate I have to say that the steamed clams were the best if not I would have to say the ahi tuna. That does not take away from the rest of the plates though. Everything was amazing. The only thing that I may have not enjoyed as much as the others could be the crab patties. Amazing restaurant. My foodie friend was in town and I decided to take her here since I hadn't tried it either and heard great things. Only recommendation is to have white table cloths to match the rest of the atmosphere and the prices. The cocktail list was impressive. I chose the honeysuckle lemonade and my friend got the lavender lemon drop. I was impressed by the purple sugar. Such a cute touch! The drinks were awesome! We started with the fried mushrooms and lobster bisque. Both were excellent but you can't skip the bisque. The lobster bisque was a must. I opted for the ribeye and a salad. I loved their salad dressings options. Spicy cilantro ranch. Yum. The loaded baked potato - amazing. Don't get me started on dessert. They bring this huge tray out and on top of that rattled off 4 other desserts... wow. I chose the caramel crunch cake. It was good. Left us hanging, no update, no explanation, no words of comfort. Took another 30 minutes to get our cocktails. Got our appetizers before our drinks. Finally got our meals at 9:30 and it was lukewarm. We dinned here for my mom's birthday dinner. I made a reservation for 6pm and we were promptly seated upon arrival. The service was good to start, but as the night went on and more parties arrived it slacked. The food did take a minute, but once we got our food it was delicious!! I visited Huntsville for the first time this weekend, every restaurant on the strip was packed. We almost gave up hope until we came across this cute little hidden gem -- Tom Browns. We weren't expecting to get a table given how crowded all of the other restaurants were however, when we walked in we were immediately sat at the next available table which was outside. It was a beautiful day so we weren't mad at all! I pulled up the menu, it was super cute and funny with the different menu items. Starting with the drinks of course I had to try the Monte Sami Sip Martini, it was delicious. For my food I had the shrimp and grits, it was amazing! I couldn't even finish. Side mentions: - The owner makes a point to walk the floor and check in on guests (which I believe is an awesome touch!).... TB though for some reason looked over at our table and kept walking. He talked to the larger parties on both our right and left and my husband noticed the snub. While it wasn't earth shattering, it was a little strange and I didn't understand the purpose of picking and choosing which guests should feel special... I told my husband that maybe it was because we asked for another table (they initially seated us at the first table by the busy entry way). Post COVID + my husbands Army PTSD, we've learned that him sitting in busy areas doesn't work well for his anxiety. We didn't make a big deal about it and I apologized to the fabulous young lady at the front podium for even asking. But after dropping $300+ for two people on our first date night of 2021 (literally), it felt a little odd that the owner deliberately swooped past our table in favor of other guests. We booked at TB because we are new to the area and it came highly recommended. Visited TB's on a Saturday for dinner with 3 others. Jeff, our server, was so great! Very knowledgeable of menu items, thorough with descriptions and great with serving us. The fried alligator and egg roll appetizers were delicious, highly recommend those both. I had a bowl of seafood bisque, slightly spicy and too much corn. Side caesar salad was delicious. Filet mignon was cooked perfectly. My espresso martini was too strong, not balanced correctly but I can't complain about too much liquor... right?! Chocolate cake and cheesecake were also good, nothing super special but still delicious. The ambiance was great, the decor is super cute. And the patio looked so inviting. We tried to make a reservation for a Thursday evening for several business associates visiting from Australia but unfortunately they were full online and nobody returned my call. Not to be swayed I came thirty mins early from our chosen meet up time, spoke to the sweet hostess and she squeezed us in!! Tom browns was absolutely wonderful. It was our first time and we did make reservations. Since it is a time during COVID, I feel like Tom Browns handled everything perfectly. When you check in with the hostess the check your temperature before allowing you to seat, mask are unforced and the staff are all talk the necessary precautions. Tables are spaced out but not sure if this is a covid thing or the normal dining room. The decor is amazing. Beautiful chandeliers, and I love the stones in the decor. Even the bathrooms are beautiful. Our waiter was extremely nice and attentive. We started off with bowls of lobster bisque which was packed full of lobster. It had a very creamy and velvety finish and the taste was spectacular. They brought out these bread rolls with a honey butter as well. The rolls were extremely hot and almost had a crispy bottom but a nice pillowy airy bread. They were delicious. 'My husband ordered the Shrimp and Grits which had a different spin on Shrimp and Grits. The "gravy" was full of pork belly, onions, celery, and peppers. It was a brown gravy and delicious. The shrimp were so fresh and had a wonderful texture. The Gouda grits were creamy and had just a wonderful taste. The Ribeye was grilled to perfection. I ordered a medium rare and that was exactly the temp that I received. The meat was so tender and the compound butter on top was an extra bonus. The steak is prime aged for 21 days and you can definitely tell the quality. The brussel sprouts were an addition $2 for substitute, but extremely worth the substitution. Perfectly roasted with pork belly and amazing seasoning. Hands down the best steak meal I have had from a restaurant in such a long time. The side of fries were perfectly crisp. Nice and pillowy inside and crisp on the outside. They had a huge assortment of desserts from skillet cookies to browns to bread pudding and cheesecakes. They all looked fabulous, but we were too full. Service was wonderful, the atmosphere was wonderful as well. While we were there there was an engagement outside which was so great to see. The consummate 'ALL SHOW AND NO GO' establishment. Here you can order a twenty dollar plus baked potato and it is served without butter, sour cream and / or accoutrements. I ordered a steak and its texture was like the steaks served in the Army Mess hall. Certainly not worth $49.00! On the positive side the gator bites were very good, along with the drinks and the wine. The bartender and server were out of this world and really without par. However if locals think this is the bomb restaurant they are surly living in a bubble. From a food perspective the only overall good thing here are the profits that Tom Brown is making. Not worth the $$$. Personally we will not be returning in the near future or ever. Your results may vary. read more

The food and service is great, but the host staff needs some help. We arrived 10 minutes early for our reservations. The other two people had not arrived yet. We were told we had to wait until the whole party was there. It was a party of 4 not 10. If the other 2 don't show up you won't honor our reservation??? It was a quiet Friday night with lots of empty seats. The hostess told us where we would be sitting but refused to seat us. So we grabbed a drink at the bar but there was no place to sit. I hate that I have to leave this review, it is not favorable. I had reservations for a party of 4 on 1/18. 2 members of our party had never been to TB, so I had hyped the place up and they were excited...only for all 4 of us to be very disappointed. Our reservations were at 7:30. Upon seating, a member of our party tried to order a particular beer that was on the menu. He was told that they did not have it, so he selected an alternate beer, to which he was told they also did not have. The waitress then rambled off several beers that were not available that night. He finally selected one that was available to his liking. After this, we asked for extra butter to be brought with our bread, but we were told that they had no bread. We all made a joke that it was a good thing we had not came there for beer and bread. Following this, we ordered our appetizers, 3 orders of the signature mean green eggrolls. The pork was very dry and tough, our friends were not impressed and we apologized. We have ordered these a dozen times and were never displeased with them until this night. We assured our friends that even though things had gotten off to a rough start, we knew that the rest of the experience would be great. This was not the case. Though we had arrived at 7:30 and ordered as promptly as we could, our meals were not delivered to our table until around 9:15. By this time, the dining room only had two or three occupied tables. I also took notice that this night was not as particularly as busy as it had been during our previous visits. Once we finally got our meals, we were largely unhappy with them. Some of the table complaints were: hard and overcooked fries, unevenly cooked steak, cold toughened shrimp (in the shrimp and grits) and an ice cold baked potato that wouldn't even melt butter. Very strange, I know this is not their norm. So very disappointing. Embarrassing for me and my partner as we had to continuously apologize to the other couple we had brought with us...again, it was their first time and now they do not care to return. We have been faithful diners over the last five or six years. By the time we left (since we ordered dessert), it was about 10:15pm. We spent more of our night/dinner sitting and waiting vs eating. We were the last customers to leave. I had to go home and go directly to bed. My entire Saturday night was spent. If the experience had been good, the amount of time spent there would not have bothered me. But for the poor service and meal quality, this was just not acceptable to me. I am just now finding time to write this review (over a week later) due to the amount of time I had to put into it to properly explain the poor experience. read more

Fantastic and friendly service, and everything on their menu is SO GOOD. if you have never been, you should find the occasion to make a reservation and go! @yelp, this is an expensive place for this area--$$$$. I don't know where you came by $$$. Four people, single table appetizer, one entree each, no drinks, and two desserts will set you back $250, plus tip. I'm not complaining... This has now become a tradition when I come to Huntsville. We always get the same thing crab cakes, crab claws, and salad or soup. The drinks are sooo delicious and the staff is very friendly. The first time I came here my friend raved how good it was and how delicious the crab cakes were and I am very particular about crab cakes so when I had my first bite it was heavenly. Wife and I had a fantastic date night. Decor is very nice and cool. Our waitress was awesome, gave us explanations of everything and as my wife said "made us feel like we were her only table" dispite a packed Friday night crowd. We ordered escargot, oysters (Huge ones!), Caesar salad, strip steak, king salmon special flown in from Hawaii and a desert cake that had banana bread in it. Also had the rum old fashion was very good. Everything was delicious including the baked potatoes that come. We also got the Brussels with pork belly and sooo good. We are already planning on coming back in two weeks with family in town to celebrate my parents anniversary.
