Let me preface this review by saying I believe a patron should never have to ask for a drink or menu when sitting at the bar. The staff should ask you as quickly as possible after you sit. I say this knowing they can be busy getting drinks for the whole restaurant. It probably goes without saying I had to ask. I'm sure if I didn't ask I would still be sitting at the bar waiting. Three staff and I heard all kinds of language and they were focused on their personal issues, not their patrons. They have a great bourbon selection. The bar is a beautiful off-white marble top and feels cool to the touch. Great vibe among all the people sitting in the bar. There are nice, big windows in the bar and comfortable seating. I ordered the Mahi Mahi and it did not disappoint. A light crust, pan fried to perfection. The chopped vegetable medley was the perfect pairing. Very good. Temperature was perfect and it arrived promptly. No waiting. Desert was a peach cake with ice cream. The young lady at the bar recommended it over the strawberry mason jar. I'll have to come back and try the other. The food was great. The drink was great. The ambience was great. If the bar staff was up to par, it was a 5-star experience. I know the bar can be hard work, but don't forget your patrons. Ask them if they want another drink and pour it. Drinks are highly profitable. read more

Well I enjoyed my visit to Revivalist on a Friday night. It was a super busy night downtown, however they also had complimentary valet which was a plus. The ambiance was great. Low lit, quiet and moody. There was a rehearsal dinner going on in their event room and it was so nice. But our server Rae was super sweet, very attentive and gave us recommendations as well as another server that was walking around. For the food, I will say that I had some favorites: the hush puppies, Brussels, and the short rib. To me the fried green tomatoes were a bit too thick and just not well seasoned for me. mahi Mahi as well lacked a little seasoning. Fries and aioli were a good side. I am more than willing to come back and try more! I'm interested in their Tuscan Wine dinner coming up for sure. My boyfriend enjoyed his old fashioned which he had never had their version and it was very good. My mocktail was really good as well as my glass of Loosen Bros Riesling. Will be back! read more

Back on the review trail after taking a little break from travel. Back on the road to Huntsville. Tired Revivalist on a recommendation. It was a decent experience. The atmosphere was great and super nice setting. No problem walking in and sitting at the bar or table in the bar area. Started with the Jefferson old fashioned. It was well made with a hint of sweet vs too much simple syrup. It was done by using the right amount of turbinado, nice touch. The shrimp and crab hushpuppies were pretty good. The inside was moist and had a good seafood flavor. The hushpuppies were fried nicely but a a tad too much salt. I had the braised short rib. The star was the creamy grits. The short rib was a little disappointing. The meat was a little dry and lacked seasoning. The gravy also lacked seasoning. The roasted carrots and zucchini was nice and added good freshness. In all everything was ok. I'm fine with the cost for commensurate food it just did not warrant 4 star or better. Yelpers got this right with just under 4 stars. A meal for one with an appetizer and drink for just under $100 should be better. read more

This restraunt is inside of the 106 Jefferson Hotel and has excellent vibes/ambiance but the food was mediocre, at best. I got the Bananas Foster's French toast which is a great concept but it was not super fresh, dry, and not worth the price. The bacon I ordered on the side was cooked to perfection so props to them for that but otherwise it was lackluster. Service was friendly but slow. Cute place and convenient if you're staying at the hotel, but I'd choose somewhere else if I was offsite. read more

Mimosa situation: $13 for a single, $50 for bottle of sparkling wine, fruit, and juice flight. Heard they were known for the beignets - comes with a honey sauce and dusted with powdered sugar, came out fresh out of the fryer - hot and wonderful little bite. For a savory brunch app option the have fried green tomatoes, devilled eggs, & biscuit/gravy. I ordered the traditional breakfast ($18) Comes with two strips of bacon, conecuh sausage, eggs cooked your way, your choice of bread (wheat, white, sourdough, cinnamon raisin, etc.), and your choice of rustic potatoes, grits or fruit. Wonderful! Came out hot - crispy bacon - loved the sourdough, crispy little potatoes really great. Our waiter was super attentive, very friendly, and took our breakfast plates off our ticket because it took a little longer than he expected (our ticket went under someone else's) BUT we weren't in a rush this date. I believe our waiter's name was Dwight, and he was perfectly attentive yet not intrusive. He was very kind. We enjoyed his help. I got a gin and tonic, and my husband got a sazerac. We both really enjoyed these cocktails. Their bar area seems to be a beautiful area to sit as well. We got a Caesar salad, which was one of the best I've ever had. Not your standard Caesar but oh so delicious. I loved it all...the gem lettuce, the dressing, chunks of cheese, crunchy croutons, and an occasional pistachio. Perfection. I'd definitely get this again. The hushpuppies were good but not my fav. They were a bit underdone in the middle and lacked a good exterior crunch. I didn't really taste any of the seafood in it either. It was mainly the breading. They were a good size appetizer though. I think we will try the fried green tomatoes next time. We shared the sea bass and OMG this was good!!! We cleaned our plates. It was flaky yet moist, with a delicious sauce and purée to complement it. My husband wanted to try their duck fat frites, so we had that on the side as well. The fries were good but nothing to write home about. This was a good amount of food for us to share. We came here for brunch on a Saturday. This is a really nice restaurant. A little upscale. We sat at a high top in the bar area so the bartender was our server. She was very nice and chatted with us a bit. I got the 2 egg breakfast and code grits as my side. I was able to add cheese to them so that was nice. Grits were just okay so I didn't really eat those but the rest of my breakfast was good. Eggs were cooked too order. I got the sangria to go with my breakfast. Oddly enough, it was blue but tasted pretty good! This wasn't a cheap breakfast but any means but the service was top notch. I'd eat here again. read more

Somehow our anniversary always sneaks up on me - it's July 1st. Should be easy to remember but after 35 years, it still usually dawns on me about 5pm June 30th. Whenever we have something to celebrate, we always end up at an old Huntsville fine-dining staple. I wanted something different. I literally looked at a map of downtown, looked at menus and reviews of various restaurants and was finally intrigued by Revivalist. After navigating around a rush hour accident on 565, we arrived (at 5pm Monday) to an empty restaurant. Our service was impeccable from the moment we stepped in the door - I hope I can say that at a busier time. We had at least 5 menus between the two of us on a tiny table in the corner. We decided to work our way through 4 courses by sharing - that was a really good idea. We ordered our drinks (Monday night taco Tuesday Mexican style lager for me) and then waited for our appetizer. We started with the fried green tomatoes. A beautiful presentation of crunchy fried tomatoes topped with mild pimento cheese, salty bacon crumbles and a roasted tomato wedge. They could be described with most any adjectives you can think of - sweet, tart, crunchy, soft, hot, cold, DELICIOUS. We moved on to the Summer Heirloom Tomato salad. Large slices of deep red fresh tomato was artfully sprinkled and dressed and hugged with a trio of fried okra fingers. My husband couldn't get enough of this salad. At this point , I'm thankful that we shared. I was about ready to tap out but thank goodness I waited. We chose the Seared Viking Bay Scallops. Another plating almost too beautiful to eat was placed before us. Because of the creamed corn, this wasn't the easiest meal to share - I ended up with most of the sauce (no complaint here) - the kitchen knew we were sharing and really should have plated it separately , either cutting the odd scallop (there were only 3) or by charging an extra plating charge. While everything on the plate was good, the charred broccolini stole the show. I had only one issue at this point - the scallops. They tasted great, but were excessively salty - and I salt everything - I don't think I could have eaten another. I really didn't want dessert but my husband did and I'm not one to turn it away so we ordered Isaac's Bomb Chocolate Cake. This was really the only disappointment of the evening. Another gorgeous plating of a piece of chocolate cake topped with mousse topped with a thin layer of shiny ganache. The cake was dry - we thought that maybe it was supposed to be a brownie but then decided it wasn't. It was actually a little difficult to cut through. Not that we didn't finish it - the rest of the plate was wonderful. It's something I definitely wouldn't order again. Revivalist is open from 6:30am to 10pm for breakfast, brunch, lunch, cocktails, and dinner. Each menu has a tad of overlap but are mostly unique per meal. Each mealtime also has its own list of specialty drinks. I wouldn't mind arriving at 6:30 and spending my day working through the menu! Maybe I should set a bunch of reminders on Siri, Alexa and on my calendar for the week before our anniversary next year. But, then, that might take the surprise out of it! read more

Beets salad - very refreshing, light and hearty salad! I loved the combination of beet, greens, candied walnut, goat cheese and blackberries. Amazing salad as I normally don't enjoy salad. Mushroom risotto - very delicious as you can dig through creamy risotto mixed with variety of mushrooms then topped with some cheese and sautéed mushrooms soaked with smokiness and butter. Amazing and savory dish! I enjoyed this risotto very much than any other risotto dishes I've ever had. Finished the night with banana cream dessert - worth the try! Got some surprise which was some crunchiness with some banana bits as you take a bite! The service was amazing as the server was very attentive and made some good recommendations as I was trying to decided from the menu. The ambiance is very chill and mellow as it's by hotel lobby. Food was good my favorites were the fried green tomatoes and the fries. I got the steak frites but didn't love the steak. My fiancé got the same but he enjoyed the steak. Service was great our waitress was attentive and friendly. I did enjoy the cocktails very much. Such a disappointing first impression. I made reservations here for the first time for Father's Day weekend. We arrived between 1-1:30. Since the bar had open seating, we opted to sit there. We sat for 10 minutes without being acknowledged. I don't mind waiting, but I really don't like to be blatantly ignored. We decided we would likely receive better service at a table. We returned to the hostess station and were told they are busy since they have so many reservations. I thought that odd since they should know then, how many are coming and when. Despite more open tables than full ones, we were seated at a cramped table for two against a window to their outdoor seating. The server had to move a stroller so that we could fit. The table next to us was filled with toddlers. I don't mind kids in restaurants but why seat us next to them? So much for a nice, relaxing Father's Day meal. We sat for another few minutes without anyone coming to our table and decided we were not going to have a good experience there, so we left. First off I don't understand why the reviews are so low, this place is fabulous. Liberty flower he warned me was the least well selling cocktail I'm not sure I wanted it do you like whiskey sours? I said yes and it was fine it wasn't mine going but it's fine. But then I ordered the duck and it was absolute perfection. The bits of sea salt added just the absolute Right touch of saltiness to this incredible dish and the microgreens added just the right touch as did the pork cherries it was fantastic I couldn't so the decor while the place is small but super swanky I felt super comfortable! If you're a Solo traveler there are plenty of spots and I'd highly recommend one of the little spots but the window where you can watch people come in and out and so just at the bar like normal but even if you're with a crowd it's going to be just fine it's cozy and I bet when the sun go down it's even better. I think most of the bad reviews came from brunch which can't speak to I came for dinner and it was fabulous planning on coming here next week! read more

What a lovely dining experience! First visit to this restaurant that opened in 2021. This is located in the Hilton hotel property, which is called 106 Jefferson (stupid name for a hotel). The restaurant was fantastic! The space is well done with a polished look, yet it is very warm and inviting. Service was also attentive and wonderful. I had the pan seared salmon, which was accompanied by herb tossed sweet potatoes. I also ordered a side of grilled broccolini. The salmon was a generous portion and cooked perfectly. The slightly tart lemon wine sauce was beautifully balanced by the sweet potatoes (I thought it odd that sweet potatoes were served with salmon, but now I know why - what a great combo!). The broccolini was nicely chard and full of flavor, yet slightly over-seasoned. I got a to-go slice of their thick, rich chocolate cake with raspberry sauce, and it was quite tasty. Service was wonderful but some of the food we ordered was hit or miss. The butternut squash bisque lacked seasoning and we didn't think the grilled cheese toast added anything to the dish. The Caesar salad was overdressed and we almost broke a few teeth on the croutons. The roasted chicken was dry and the texture of the sweet potato gnocchi was gummy and sauce didn't really mesh with the roasted lemon chicken flavor. The steak frites had a tiny portion of steak and the fries are not cooked well - some were soggy. However, the prime rib was nicely cooked and seasoned well and the banana pudding cake was probably the best dish we had for our meal. read more

I was not disappointed, we walked into a very clean and lovely establishment. We were greeted and seated with smiles and good vibes. The aesthetic of the restaurant is beautiful. This is maybe my third or fourth visit here and I always go with high hopes. My friend and I went for a late brunch. We ordered the build your own mimosa, which is basically a bottle of champagne and a flight of juices to mix in it. I thought this was a great deal, however, it took a while to get it to our table. I completely understood though because our server was also the bartender. I really wanted the shrimp and grits but it wasn't on the brunch menu (they serve it for breakfast), so I settled for the fried oysters and grits. The fried oysters flavor was a little too strong for me to enjoy. I ate a couple and then gave up. The grits were okay. They weren't really served as hot as I would've expected. Nice consistency and once I added salt and pepper, they were good. I honestly would like to go back, but maybe for breakfast so I can try the shrimp and grits again. read more

I came in with an open mind and knowing they may be short staffed because of COVID. Anyway, I made reservations through open table for Saturday at 6:15pm. We had no issues getting seated when we arrived. We were seat at a cute little table in the back. I ordered the Spanish rose cocktail and loved it. We also started with the crayfish hush puppies. They didn't really taste like crayfish, but they were delicious with a little kick to them. We both also ordered the French onion soup. It doesn't come smothered in cheese like I'm used to, but it was still really good and a giant bowl! I got annoyed because they brought the entrees immediately after they brought out the soup. Poor timing. Should be after the soup because the tables are small and you don't want to rush eating the soup so your entree doesn't get cold. I ordered the truffle pasta with chicken for my entree, which was cooked Al dente, perfect. Great flavor. My husband got the sausage and duck stew and it was really good! It came topped with a sweet cornbread and it was so good! We ordered a side of roasted beets and it was presented very poorly. First of all, only 7 pieces and just thrown on and unvarnished huge plate.... They tasted good... but 7 pieces are not a side. We did both get dessert and coffee as well. He was not a fan of his espresso, but I enjoyed my cappuccino. I HIGHLY recommend the s'mores dessert. It comes out smoked in glass. So good! He ordered the apple cranberry tart. We both didn't think it was anything to write home about. I would come back. But I hope they fix those little issues. We didn't have any of the issues people complained about in the negative reviews and the people sitting around us loved their experience. Hopefully more people will share honest reviews. read more

The decor is well done and period suitable to the building. We went for brunch and two of the three dishes had missteps. The brioche French toast was dry but the caramel sauce was good. The avocado toast was underseasoned while the poached eggs were overdone to a crumbly hard egg yolk. The corned beef and potatoes was spot on and can recommend. The service was slow and somewhat inattentive and didn't appear they were slammed with too many simultaneous sit downs. The wine list is small but their cocktail list has some interesting ideas. We spent New Years Eve at the Revivalist with a prefix menu and wine pairing. The wine pairing was an additional cost that was not advertised as such on their instagram. We waited 30 minutes for our first course and the wine was not served until after that course was finished. Our server did her best to ensure the wine came out with the courses moving forward but it was an unorganized experience at best. The entree I chose was the scallops and caviar. There were two scallops on the plate. Overall it was a mediocre experience that was not worth the money. read more
