I've got an old AV receiver that just up and stopped working one day last year. It was expensive when I bought it, so I was reluctant to get rid of it. When I started looking for a new stereo receiver for the home gym, I remembered I still had the old one and started looking for a place to repair it. Found Tom here and gave him a call. Call went to voicemail (I found out later this is standard), but Tom called me back later that day and asked what was needed. Tom is a no-nonsense old school AV guy. We talked on the phone for a few minutes and he explained what the issue might be. He then explained how his repair service works. Pay an upfront diagnostic fee (very reasonable price) at drop off. When he figures out the issue, he lets you know how much to fix it. Then he fixes it. The drop-off/pick-up is a bit different than at a store, but works better than a storefront because you get personal one-on-one service when you're there. I had Tom come out and install a TV and a surround sound system in my media room. He was prompt and gave me a competitive price for the install. When he installed the speakers in the ceiling his installer cut out an existing hole too big to be covered by the speaker frame thus leaving a hole in my ceiling. When I brought this to his attention he gave me an excuse( he wasn't a carpenter)and never fixed the problem. After the install was complete we where unable to get surround sound through any of my smart TV apps, only through regular cable channels using HDMI 1. After doing some research I bought a digital audio cable and installed it through the attic myself to get the surround sound through my smart TV apps. The system sounds good and the TV is great but this definitely wasn't the experience I expected. read more

Tom is an old school audio guy with some fancy toys to diagnose speaker wires and confirm ohms. I thought my $900 Denon was broken, but it was shutting off due to a short. Tom was able to confirm which speaker with his equipment, reset the receiver and then fixed the wiring issue saving me $900! I would have been really pissed to buy a new unit to only hit the same issue. He tested an 'extra' pair of speaker wires in the cabinet with a 9 volt battery and could tell by the spark arc that it was connected to a volume controller somewhere in the house. We found the speakers/controller and he wired to zone 2. He then devised a plan to get my Apple TV 4 HDMI output to analog for my receiver to push to outdoor pool speakers even though Apple removed the analog output from the 4. I'd highly recommend him. We have a motorized LCD TV on a lift, a TiVo, and DVD player. We needed to hook up our new receiver and wanted it to work with the surround speakers. Tom hooked up all of the devices to the new receiver. He also setup a wireless remote control repeater (IR repeater) so we could control the new receiver and other devices when the doors are closed on the cabinet they are kept in. It went perfectly smooth and he showed up on time as scheduled. Everything worked just as it should. He had a good knowledge of the brand of receiver we purchased. He also set it up in a way that was easy to use and understand. Knowing he has worked on larger sound systems, repaired TVs and installed many home entertainment systems set me at ease.
