What a dog & pony show. I should have come here first & THEN go. And ask for this Eddie everyone is talking about. I went with the bald dude in the suit, Tommy. He butchered my hair, left random strands longer than the rest of my hair. It looks choppy, and dated. Even the way he moved while he was cutting my hair was weird. He kept asking me to stop moving so he can cut my hair, and all I was doing was removing cut hair off my hands & arms. They didn't give me a frock to cover me from the hair falling. I think my head moved again to glance at someone walking by & he was stunned he stopped cutting my hair for a moment to compose himself. Super awkward. WHY did I get my hair cut by a bald man!? I should have known. Colorist? I saw her for the time it took to apply the color & never saw her again. Color did not come out the way she described. What a flop. For $140, I expected awesome & got embarrassed. read more

AMAZING AMAZING artists!! Only the best of the best are there! William....is a true artist! William has done my hair for about 6 years now and NO ONE else is allowed to touch my hair! From cuts, trims to styles & up do's he is AMAZING! and Debbie is wonderful with color! Ive had such drama in the past (with other colorists) but Debbie has nailed it every time! Figures out what i want even when I'm not sure! Raquel the makeup artist is great! She did a wedding in my family & besides her talent of bringing out everyones beauty, she was so patient & pleasant (even during the chaos of the wedding day!). TOM is truly a gem! read more

I used to get my hair done in NYC at three times the price but no more. The salon and staff are amazing. Gio cuts my hair and I've never had a better cut and style. You can always tell a great cut by the way it grows in and Gino's cuts are perfection. See Debbie for outstanding color. read more

I was recommended to Tom NY by my girlfriend who had a great experience. She had tried Gio and was very happy as was I. He trimmed and put long layers in my hair. The layers are incredibly even (which other hairstylists have failed to do). He gave me advice how to blow out my hair and most importantly we discussed how I would like my hair for my daughters wedding. He curled my hair so I could get an idea of what it would look like. It looked amazing just that alone. I can't wait to do a trial with him. What a relief to have found some one I know will do my hair beautifully for the wedding. read more

I came in for graduation hair and makeup since my regular place had no appts available. Was told on the phone it would take approx 1 hour, 1 hour 15 at MOST. Sure no problem. Walked in, they told me it would be about 2 hours. Mind that I didn't have 2 hours since I was graduating. Makeup was amazing, 10/10 recommend Raquel. Received so many compliments. She also worked her fastest to get me in and out asap which I appreciate. Now for the hair, I had called in for a blowout. Only a blowout. No curls due to timing / how much I wanted to pay. The girl doing my blowout insisted on curling it after I repeatedly said no 100 times. I had brought in clip in extensions as well and they were put in 100% wrong. 2 pieces are supposed to go to the front and 2 as well as the back. Well, only the back pieces were put in bc the front ones were claimed to be "too large for my head".... Lol not at all. I had these profesionally made about 2 years ago & have had them put in HUNDREDS of times. By this point, I was running extremely short on time because the woman doing my hair kept getting up every 2 seconds to do god knows what. I didn't have the time to entertain the extension situation so with only the back pieces in I was pretty bummed. Another issue was the pricing. Over the phone I was told a whole different set of prices then when I went up to pay. $80 for MAKEUP??? Not even airbrush foundation? Ridiculous. $65 for a blowout??? I will not be back! read more

I found Tom New York here on Yelp. I was looking for a new salon to fix a pixie cut that had gone wrong. I chose the owner, Tommy, to get my hair cut. I had gone to Maximus, his former employer and was unhappy with the cut I got there. I explained to Tommy that I was trying to grow it out and the previous stylist left me with a mushroom. He was very quick to bad mouth that particular stylist. I told him to cut it into a true pixie and would start growing it out again from there. He proceeded to buzz cut my hair with the clippers. He gave me a man's haircut. I saw him give the same haircut to the male client right before me. $75 for a man's haircut. Nevertheless, I returned to him for a trim a few weeks later. I told him I was going to start growing it out and just to clean it up. Again, the clippers came out. Another $75. And as it grew out, it became a mushroom, just like what I had when I first went to him. I told a friend who has a stylist license (non-practicing though) about his method and she was horrified that he would use the clippers on me. It was just a quick way for him to cut it short without spending the time on me that a cut like that requires. I can't say how he is with long hair but I know I will never go back there again! read more

My son came in for a simple haircut and was subjected to a very hurtful comment made about his appearance -- in Mandarin -- by the hairdresser. While the stylist may have assumed he wouldn't understand, the remark was understood and luckily my son was not hurt by it. When I called the salon to address the issue, the staff member denied it entirely, which made an already upsetting situation even more frustrating. There was no apology, no attempt to make things right, and no acknowledgment of the harm caused. A salon should be a welcoming space for everyone, regardless of background or appearance. Making derogatory comments about a customer -- in any language -- is completely unacceptable and unprofessional. I would not recommend this salon and hope management takes customer feedback seriously and holds their staff to a higher standard.

She claimed she was just "thinning" my daughter's hair but took shears and chopped so close to the scalp that she left her with visible bald spots and blotchy patches that look like a bad buzz cut. This wasn't a trim or layering this was butchering her hair. What's worse is that my daughter was too afraid to speak up in the moment, but I'm not staying quiet. She also didn't realize the extent of damage that was done.I don't know where these people got their licenses, but judging by the mess Rachel left behind and the pattern in other reviews they should consider going back to cosmetology school. I have many friends in the cosmetology field and they were even frightened by the results. We even left a generous tip (which I now regret more than anything). The level of incompetence does not match the prices they're charging. If you care about your hair or your child's confidence, stay far away from this place.

I went for my first time yesterday! I was very happy coming here. I had Eddie do my color and Kelly do a cut on me, and Nina blew my hair out fabulous..Couldn't be happier... came out with beautiful, natural looking shiny color and such a sleek gorgeous trim. They even know how to treat it with the right moisture treatment for my hair because it was drying up. They are so attentive while you wait with cappuccinos and smiles. I was getting compliments all night after coming back from the salon. Very professional looking. Both Eddie and Kelly really know what they are doing. Eddie had suggestions for me when I was unsure on what tone of highlight. All the staff is great and love the ambience. I will be coming back. read more

I love Tom NY - This is one of the best hair salon's in Long Island. Period. For color, I use EDDIE. You will not find a more talented artist. He will transform your hair and takes an enormous amount of pride in his work. He's a forward thinker which is VERY important when it comes to color. He'll take his time with you to make sure he knows the exact look you are going for. A bonus? He's an awesome guy all around. For cuts, GIO is my guy. Gio has a unique understanding of how the cut will look on you given your features. He's a true perfectionist who also does a killer blow out. Such a nice, friendly guy too. I am never disappointed when I leave Tom NY! Extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff. Billy and Maryanne both go out of their way to accommodate me and my three girls whether we call a week in advance or an hour in advance. They are amazing! We get cut by Tom, blown out by Kerri, and eyebrows by Raquel. We are never disappointed! If you need color I highly recommend Eddie. He takes his time with you. You won't feel rushed or pressured by him. He's truly interested in what look you're going for and he nails it every time! Love this salon!! read more

After a terrible experience at a salon in Carle Place, I came across this place. Compared to the other Salon it was night and day. The people here were pleasant and nice. I have now been back a few times and Tom is great. He is like a machine and they got me done fast and correct. I was so happy. I would probably come back but I am still going to be on the lookout for a place near me in Garden City since i don't really like coming to the south shore to get my hair done. I would Recommend this place to anyone looking for a south shore salon. read more

Tom New York is a beautiful salon and everyone there is friendly and inviting. The front desk associate named Maryann was so helpful and sweet. I recently got my hair colored by the amazing Eddie. He was brilliant! Professional, sweet, encouraging and extremely talented! I was nervous at first but after meeting him, i knew i was in good hands. Tommy is the top stylist on LI. Even when i lived in the city, i drove out to get my hair cut with him. He knows what looks good, and i always leave there with a beautiful stylish cut. Tommy's cuts also grow out beautifully, even when its time for a trim I'm still getting compliments. :) I've been going to Tommy for years. I won't let anyone else cut my hair. Toms salon is beautiful, the staff is nice and they are all great. What more can I say, I am so thankful I found him. read more

TOM NY is very nice salon with a talented bunch of staff. Specifically, i get my color done by Eddie. He is by far the best colorist i have ever used. He is extremely knowledgeable and always gives you exactly what you want, if not BETTER . I am never disappointed and always get compliments on my hair.
