I'm changing all my and my families prescriptions from this pharmacy. 1. They never get my prescriptions from my doctor. I end up having to have my doctor resend them every time and several times I've had to call 3 times to get them. 2. They have no seats to sit down by the pharmacy if you have to wait. Which is always. They have an old closed off room with no speaker waiting room but no one sits in there and you wouldn't know if your order was ready. I have asked management two times now if they could provide 1 or 2 chairs in front of pharmacy for disabled people like myself and still as of today, no seating. 3. They try to overcharge you if you are using discount cards. ALWAYS ASK THEM TO DOUBLE CHECK A DIFFERENT DISCOUNT CARD BECAUSE THEY WILL QUOTE THE MOST EXPENSIVE FIRST. REALLY A SHIITY WAY TO TREAT DISABLED SENIORS ON A FIXED BUDGET. 4. I went through drive thru to get scripts and have always paid with Apple Pay. I have a hard time walking because of severe back issues. Today I was advised that I would have to come in to do Apple Pay even though I had never had to previously. Went into store annoyed but I understand if it's a new policy. When I asked about it being a new policy, I was advised we usually don't take Apple Pay thru drive thru. I asked what "Usually" meant because you either do or you don't. He said only 99% of the time they would do it through drive through. I asked what the 1% requirements were because I'm disabled. I got no response. Sooo... I'm done with Tom Thumb Pharmacy so they will be losing 5 people's prescriptions because of the lack of their customer service. I wouldn't use them again. read more

Beware of expired food dates at this Tom Thumb location in Duncanville, TX off of Cedar Ridge. We had repeatedly bought food from this location with expired dates from as far as 2020 but as common as 2022. Expired food should be taken off the shelf at least 3 months after its expiration date but 2 years is asking for a negligence liability suit. Food poisoning is real and Tom Thumb is not to concern with their neighborhoods health buy keeping this food on the shelf for consumption. Check your expiration dates when shopping at this location. Once again, this store has every single curbside spot and handicap spot filled with non handicap and non curbside customers. Just rude overly entitled shoppers. Fix this. Hamburger meat and a roast in the past few months was bad and had to throw out. Pork country ribs made me sick all last night. Will never buy meat there again. By far the cleanest grocery store I've ever been to. Stocking of the food on the shelves are dress right dress. For you non-military personnel that means highly organized! The presentation of fresh vegetables in the vegetable section is like no other compared to other grocery stores. The lines to check out are very fast. I AM DONE with Tom Thumb! Went there today and had a couple of JUST U items saved. After payment I looked down at receipt and that I was not discounted $1 for one of the items. While still in the store, I looked at phone to verify that it was saved and it was. I walked up to customer service desk and there were two workers there. As soon as I started mentioning my receipt issue, I noticed the closed sign so I said "I see you are closed, can I get refund from a cashier? Very flippant and rudely, both workers said "NO, You'll have to come back!" Really 3 + stars, if that were possible. My default grocery store, since it's closest to my house. Not where I do my regular shop, but where I pick up supplies as needed. Service is really noticeably better than the other regular grocers in the area. Friendly. Pretty good about returns and such. Attractive--there's a little seating area by the Starbucks with free wi-fi. Surprisingly comfortable--always seems to have a few folks chatting with their friends or employees on lunch break. Prices are a tad high, but not outrageous. Goodish supply of organics/gourmet. I especially appreciate that they carry Fage greek yogurt. Make sure to sign up for the "just-for-u" program, for personalized coupons, unless it creeps you out that they know you like organic bananas, maple syrup but not breakfast cereal. read more

Okay, I have been going here for years, and I do love everything about it, including the employees. It is funny to me that its such a vault of a place... its like a zombie fortress you can retreat to during the apocalypse. The entire front is oddly barricaded and packed in a way to minimize any sunlight coming in. My theory is they have a vampire that works there and complained, so they had to. This location is consistently great. It's clean, everyone has always been very friendly, from the cashiers to the guys stocking the shelves late at night, and they do have good deals. Sometimes you have to work a little harder and use their rewards system diligently, but it's worth it. The store is very well kept and all of the staff is very friendly! $5.00 Friday's are the best, I love seeing what's going to be on the $5.00 ad each week...especially if it's from their bakery! I love going into this store! For starters, the Starbucks is right at the front door! What more can a girl ask for? The fruits and veggies are right there too! They always have an excellent selection of produce, meats and specialty items. For instance, we always try to go to one of those bigger discount grocery stores...that starts with a 'W' but their meat, poultry and seafood selection are less than desirable. However, Tom Thumb always has a good selection, variety and diverse product in stock. The employees are always courteous and helpful too! I have been stewing over this store for some time now about how they treat their young employees. Now I realize teenagers can be flaky at times and maybe hard to keep employed. However, the consensus of several kids I know that have worked here seems to be the same. The management is poor. They have other kids "running" the place and changing up work schedules. Sometimes they don't bother to tell an employee when their hours have changed. And sometimes they don't turn in the correct hours one worked. They schedule young kids to close their stores at night. I find that incredibly irresponsible and flat out unsafe. The accountability seems to be non-existent. And if you question those who are to be overseeing such things as schedule and pay, you may get fired. So with that said with what I do know is fact, this store needs an overhaul. read more

If I could solely rate this based on Jackie at the Starbucks my rating would be 5 stars but the grocery part of the store is honestly 3.5-4 stars. First the good...The pharmacy staff is also friendly and very accommodating and informative. Cashiers are helpful and there is a gentleman that has been bagging groceries and busing carts for years that is always cheerful. The store always appears to be clean and I like the layout better than Kroger. The bad....Grocery prices are a bit higher and the only cameras that work are focused on the gas station (we found this out the hard way when one of our vehicles was hit in the parking lot while we were shopping). Also, be sure to check the dates on the perishables, I have been there several times when items have been expired and have pointed it out to staff. read more

The produce is usually great quality and pretty fresh however, lately my veggies & fruit have gone bad sort of quickly. I was in the area pretty late one night but decided to drop in to this Tom Thumb to see if they had some items I was looking for that were on sale. Not only did they have the items, they had an abundance of them. Since it was pretty late, my cashier Lillie was extremely friendly and didn't mind accepting my coupons. It was awesome. I was a long time customer before I worked here. I was always treated with respect and always helped anytime I even looked confused, which well that's kind of all the time. I became a certified pharmacy technician in 2010 and I I applied for a job at Tom Thumb for a pharmacy technician for one of my first applications. Unfortunately at the time they were fully staffed but I in my time a a local pharmacy chain gained a very successful and "pharmacy friendship" with the employees, I did gain employment with then In 2012 I was offered a position I immediately took it! I've been working for them since this time in 2012 and I don't regret a single second of it. All the staff and management work is such a great team and communicate very well. The pharmacy manager (my main boss) is awesome he accommodates for anything I needed as far as parenting issues go for time off that I may need now and again. It's not just because I work here that I shot periods because of the quality of the product, I always feel that I'm getting the best deal for the price that I pay. Although some items maybe be a few cents more here and there I always know that I'm going to get fresh and well taken care of items. In my opinion if you're going to fill prescriptions but yes I do work in the pharmacy you should do it in your local grocery store it's not only convenient for you but it helps out the business. Just think if you went to CVS or Walgreens and needed dishwashing soap or laundry detergent you're going to pay 3 to 4 dollars more then any item inside of Tom Thumb. Price gouging is outrages at drugstores. I do understand that some insurance is only allow you to use drugstores but you can call and request that you have Tom Thumb as your retail pharmacy plan provider it only takes a couple of minutes and here at Tom Thumb we always strive to do our best. And what's better than having a Starbucks inside your grocery store Our current store manager Mr. Richard Eastman is very attentive to any customer and or employee needs and is always on top of the ball he makes the environment very comfortable and very inviting. Our floral manager Miss Olga, is always on the grind she make sure her department stays clean and organized and well stocked she make sure that every single petal on every single flower is fresh and very vibrant and beautiful and in season. The arrangements she makes are dropping gorgeous. And as well as her staff there also polite and grateful for anybody who walks by there more than happy to help and make sure that you get what you need for the occasion that you're looking for will help you find a vase for your flowers and make sure that you stay within your price range with also being able to astonish the person receiving said flowers. Our produce is always amazing in fresh & delectable. Our deli department is always available to make your lunch even if you're in a rush and they don't take their time they make sure that you get what you need and make sure that you have at the way that you want it they don't just look at the directions that corporate has provided they ask you how you like your sandwich or meal that you can pick items from. We carry just about anything you're looking for in our general store manager of non-foods will make sure you have whatever your looking for. The cash office manager is Toby he is so polite and has such a loving respectable ora, he stays on top of anything that may be needed to be done for refunds exchanges etc. If you are in the area I suggest you just take a quick second stop by browse the store and see what you think is 10 times better than Walmart in 1 million times better than the local Kroger!!! read more

The parking lot of this store has frequent break ins and robberies. The store has good quality food, but it is literally 2-3 times more expensive than Walmart. For example, a Stouffers Meatball and Spaghetti TV dinner is $1 at Walmart and here it's $3. They add about an extra dollar onto every item they sell. The store is much too expensive, and with the rising crime in Duncanville and frequent robberies and thefts in the neighborhood it's worth the hassle of going to Walmart, not that the parking lot is much safer there, but Walmart has better lighting and more police presence so in many ways thrives stray away from Walmart. I have been going to this store for 15 years. The customer service lately is horrible. The checkers think it's your job to put the sacked groceries in the buggy. Insulted if you ask them to do their job. If I wanted to do that, I'd got to Walmart, also around the corner from my house and a lot less expensive. Not as convenient, but cheaper. I really like this Kroger. Its neat, shelves are organized, I can walk in with sweats or a suit and not feel awkward. The fruits don't go bad quickly like they do with Walmart fruit. The deli section rocks, and Hot Foods are fresh and delicious, plus never sits out too long. Even the customers seem normal. You know what I mean. You ever walk into a store and look at the customer, and think to yourself WTF? You know like the Kroger or is it Tom Thumb near Children's medical center. You the one where you get confused by the variety of patrons in the store. I know you know what I mean, you've seen it, between the Asian doctors in lab coats, the hot just out of the gym guys, and the crack heads?
