This is one of few Tom Thumb's that has a great clearance selection. I was also able to find some items that I had to get rain checks for at another location. I just love the over stock of their floral department it's like WHOA all the way out the door! It is by the way one of the older stores in the area! The service here is also great. NEVER go here! What a F ing joke. Had a buggy full of food and NO check out people were open. Had to use self checkout and the little lady working the self checkout had an attitude! Kept giving us a attitude because the area to put your groceries was full of of stuff we were check out. What a attitude! Staff is extremely rude and not helpful when shopping there. They racially profile African American customers and the food quality is terrible, especially the meat. I scheduled the 8-9pm curbside pickup slot via the app and arrived around 8:05pm. After waiting more than 10 minutes, I called the store and remained on hold for several minutes. When I finally spoke to someone I was told, "they've already gone home" and they don't offer the service after 8pm in a tone that made it clear he couldn't care less. Then he said I could come in and get it. I was expecting a curbside delivery and had a dog in the car so I couldn't go in and leave them in a hot car. Rather than try to figure how to fix the problem he just stayed silent after I told him I couldn't go in. Finally, I told him to cancel the order. He said, "alright" and hung up. Total jerk! I sent an email asking Tom Thumb to explain why the app offers a time slot that this store doesn't honor. This was totally inconvenient, not to mention a waste of time and gas. But I guess I missed you for some reason because I finally took you back just last week - despite being seriously lacking in keto/gluten free baking ingredients (even Walmart has you beat), I overpaid for Halo Top and some pre-diced tomatoes. Halo Top should last about a year so seeing it a month past expiration means it probably sat in your freezer for 6-12 months. The diced tomatoes were mealy and soggy, so there's $10 I threw in the trash because I don't have the time or energy to return them - plus I just don't ever wanna see you again. That said - I'm gifting you the 2nd star because thankfully the meat department is on point and the 3 inch thick ribeye I devoured was really tasty - still, you're not worth the risk of getting burned one more time. I have shopped with Tom Thumb since the 1980's, however, after today that will not be the case. After a multitude of problems over the last 5 years (this dates back to pre-covid) I'm done. Many times in loading my trunk the person has placed heavy items on top of fruit, veggies and bread. They stack them so high that TWICE I have opened the trunk to have heavy boxes fall out and injure me. The manager over pick up and delivery is rude but nothing is ever done about it. She has been rude to me and my kids. The final straw is the corporate customer service. After months of IT issues on my account and approximately 25-30 phone calls the issue is still not fixed and they could care less. I did finally get a call back today (the only one I have received after 5-6 requests) and the attitude of Eddie in Fresh Pass was really bad. I could tell he didn't really care about keeping my business, so it will go elsewhere. Can't wait till HEB opens till then I will shop ANYWHERE but there. The worst place to work!!!! Showing up on days I'm not scheduled because no one has showed me one, no one has told me when to show up, when to work, when to leave, they give you NO INFORMATION. Constantly asked to stay and do things, but then getting in trouble for getting over time hours....!? No one could tell me when to be there, what my schedule was, how long to be there, NOTHING. They are all too focused on other things besides helping their own employees. Was training to take over someone else's position, but on my third day was told how awful it was to work there and am no longer wasting my time and effort trying to help them. This Tom Thumb's 1 of the worst I've been to. The customer service was nonexistent, the store's layout stunk, and the shoppers were complete assholes. I wish I could comment further on the staff, but no one was around so I can't. I don't know if this location's understaffed or people were raptured but if you needed helping finding something, good luck. Also, compared to the other Tom Thumbs I've been to, this store's aisles seemed quite narrow. Maybe that's just how it was in the bottled water aisle but it was like 2 people wide and if you needed to pass someone, good luck because they won't move no matter how many "excuse me" or "pardon me" you throw their way. Speaking of, I've never encountered so many jerks in 1 square foot. I don't know if it's because people feel entitled or it was just the time of day when idiots were out, but people need to work on their manners and get a basic understanding of personal space. Beyond the fact that people refused to inconvenience themselves and move their cart over so you can walk past, at checkout (self-checkout, mind you), people had zero concept of backing off and maintaining a respectable distance. It's to a point where dudes will insist on standing elbow to elbow with you as you ring up your items. Fortunately, the guy in particular went to another station but bro... 3ft minimum. If you love waking up at 3 a.m. in the morning and watching your brains explode out of your (as Borat calls) ANOOS every 30 seconds for 15 hours, look no further. The Tom Thumb Butcher shop has your prime cuts of Certified Angus e-coli waiting to hit your GI tract. My wife and I picked up a couple of filet mignons and boxed brown rice from this place last night. The rest is history... Ended up with major food poisoning, fever, and all sorts of other fun within 6 hours. I had to go back today as we had burned through what felt like 40 rolls of toilet paper and boxes of Kaopectate. When I explained this to the store employees, they thought I was looking for a refund when I explained that this stuff could injure kids and older folks. I denied the refund thing and walked out... It always surprises and disappoints me when I'm in a grocery store during peak shopping hours (after work on weekdays) and see only 2 lines open for check out while there are employees wondering around the customer service area chatting and no one helping bag or opening more lanes. The grocery itself is clean, well stocked and easy to get around. Bakery, Meat, Dairy, Beverage and Pharmacy areas are top notch. Biggest issue is deli and some checkout personnel. I have yet to purchase over five times in the deli (and I shop there 1-2X per week) because it always seems as if the personnel is opening, closing or in mid-shift. It almost seems like an inconvenience to them. At checkout counter, I recently had an experience where a checkout clerk and her friend (bagging) "guessed" at the price of an item that didn't have a scan sticker and overcharged me $1. Sure, not a budget buster, but it's the attitude that was irking. Management team members I have met seem friendly and competent but one of the first experiences (given the store layout) you have is with the deli and last experience (checking out) needs some training. I ordered cupcakes and was very clear that two had to be unfrosted for a child that had dairy allergies. When I went to serve the cupcakes, I noticed that those two had a thin sheen of frosting on them. They had been frosted, then the frosting wiped off after the fact. I've been shopping at this Tom Thumb for over a decade now and overall it is a good place to shop. The staff is very friendly and they have a wide selection of items. I had to knock off a star because a lot of their items are cheaper elsewhere but do become a rewards member if you shop there frequently. Shelves are consistently under stocked If it's on sale you can be sure they don't have it. At least not when it's advertised. The bearded guy in the meat dept is a rude a..hole. Tried a made to order specialty sandwich from their signature cafe. Turkey, pesto, avocodo on focaccia (from the menu). It is absolutely inedible. The bread is tasteless, stale, with a terrible texture in general and one corner is rock hard. The sandwich itself is a mess and impossible to eat. Avocado mush (not sliced avocado) gushes out all over and the sandwich slips around. The turkey is poorly distributed so that one side of the sandwich is thick and the other is nearly empty. Honestly, this is the worst sandwich I've had in recent memory. Disgusting. I never knew a sandwich could possibly be this bad. read more

The worst service at the bakery! No one behind the counter took forever to get anyone to help. They finally came and were so rude. Picked up the cake the photo job was so terrible, it was crooked and fuzzy. The piping on the cake was also crooked. The baker was rude when we picked it up. Will never purchase a cake there again.
