I visited Gabrielino Pasta for the first time this weekend and was really impressed by the quality of their pasta and the amazing flavors coming from this made-to-order pop-up. You can tell everything is made fresh -- the food was cooked right in front of me, and the aromas alone were enough to get me excited. I tried the Chicken Tequila Lime Pasta and the Penne with Marinara, Sausage, and Meatballs, and both dishes were excellent. The sauces were flavorful, the pasta was perfectly cooked, and the portions were generous. There was also plenty of parking, which made the visit even easier. Zero vegetables. Just meat and pasta. Vegetables are far cheaper than the meat they procure so this detail is puzzling. Hands down best pasta! The menu is great , the down side, if any is that you want to try everything. And that I live far from it. The service is always good, they are always kind and patient. Very efficient. Street is the ambience, but im cool with that. Sometimes I eat in the parking lot, or drive to a nearby park. Pasta never disappoints, it's cooked right on the spot so it's fresh and pipping hot. I like the build your own pasta . I've gotten the penne with sausage, zucchini and onion. I have been wanting to try this place for awhile as I always drive by. Tonight I decided to stop and give it a go. I decided to get the chicken tequila lime (not too spicy) I added shrimp and spinach to it. I got home and to be honest, I figured it would be good, like most pasta. I got home took my first bite and HOLY FLAVOR it was so flavorful, pasta was perfect al dente.. just really delicious. I know I'll be back for an easy dinner. The portions are huge! There were at least 6 large shrimp, if not more! It's cash only and cost $21 (because I added shrimp (it came with chicken too) and spinach. Trust me, GO!! My boyfriend and I have driven by this place so many times when we're getting food in Highland Park. I've heard of taco stands before, but a pasta stand? We wondered how good it could be. Well, he was craving pasta, and after a bit of searching on here, the thought came "Why don't we try that pasta booth on York?" So you basically get fettuccine, choose your protein, choose your sauce, and they prepare your dish to order. They also have some ravioli dishes and other non-choose-your-own pasta dishes like spicy beef soup or chicken tequila lime. We ordered chicken with creamy lemon caper sauce and meatballs with Cajun sauce. They cooked our pastas, asked if we wanted cheese, then packed it up for us. My boyfriend asked "what if this is the best pasta ever?" as we drove home. And you know what, we were not prepared for how good it would be. It's not the best pasta I've ever had, but it's really really good. My chicken with lemon caper sauce was excellent, the sauce was rich and tangy. The meatballs with the Cajun sauce were also good. I get this every week since I live incredibly close, so it's become my comfort food. Worth it EVERY time. I used to prefer the original owner making my pasta, but I'm really happy to see the newer cooks match that level. Keep convincing friends and family to stop by and try it, they all agree it's DELICIOUS. Highly recommend getting the mushroom or broccoli add-on for an extra $1. The service is also really nice - they even let me pay later at home when I forgot both my phone and didn't have cash on hand. Maybe it's because they see me every week, but it's a comforting experience. She mentioned that it's on the street and I'm instantly thinking, "Street Pasta?!" Now THAT is LA. My curiosity peaked. We drove and arrived at the 99c store parking lot where, indeed, there was Gabriellino in his LA Street Pasta glory. We both order Chicken Tequila Lime pastas. We sometimes like to add mushrooms and recommend if you're into mushrooms. He has 4 burners and handles them masterfully. We just stand there hungry and in awe of his pace and ability to cook food. Good food. The portions are also generous for the price. If you don't overdo it, you can have enough for lunch/dinner tomorrow. The average dish is $14, served hot, with the option of adding Parmesan cheese prior to serving. We grab to-go and eat at home. As my wife and I cheers to our first bites, our senses are instantly taken to realms of flavor. There's silence. Delight dances on our tastebuds and the world around us is at peace. Our legs don't even take us to our couch, much less our thumbs activating Netflix. If you love pasta, then try Gabriellino's Pasta. Oh! Don't forget to check out their neighbor, Jesus.
