My husband and I had an early dinner on Saturday. The restaurant was packed! There are tons of cute decorations, like tomato sauce and oil above the booths. The restaurant is a homier version of Olive Garden. The restaurant is spacious, lots of booths and sections. There is a bar section as well. We came during Restaurant Week, there was a $35 special. The $35 included dinner portions of the main meal, dessert and an appetizer. My husband ordered Minestrone Soup, Chicken Parmigiana and Grandma's Bread Pudding. I ordered Tomato Basil Soup, Carbonara and Spumoni Ice Cream. We also ordered a Sicilian Sandwich to go. Our server was super friendly and amazing! I think our server's name was Jen. The garlic bread was tasty, better than Texas Toast. Both soups were incredible! I loved the Tomato Basil Soup. My husband liked the Chicken Parmigiana. The side of fettuccine Alfredo was fair. My Carbonara was disappointing, way too much sauce and a fishy taste. My husband and I couldn't figure out what the off-putting taste was. We changed plates, I really liked the Chicken Parmigiana. The breading wasn't too heavy and was seasoned perfectly! The Sicilian Sandwich was scrumptious! The tomato dipping sauce was flavorful in spades, fragrant and light. Went for lunch! When we got close to the door it already smelled amazing! They sat us and gave our kids play dough, also the tables are lined with paper and crayons so you can draw. I can't resist another update... Last night I had the Eggplant Parmigiana and it was the best I've had in Spokane! I loved it that the eggplant was a thicker cut than other places. Food can be hit or miss depending on what you order. I ordered the chicken fettuccine and felt something was missing as it was a bit bland. My mom got the eggplant parmigiana and also said she prefers other things on the menu since this was not impressive. But we loveee the free garlic bread and loved our appetizer (baked artichoke spread). The appetizer and free bread was my favorite part. Service also is a hit or miss. Front end staff was friendly and communicative. As for our waitress...she wasn't rude but was def not happy. She could not bring herself to even fake smile and she honestly looked like she did not want to be there at all. My water was never refilled sadly. I've been a waitress so I understand busy nights can be stressful but if you don't want to show up to work then don't. I just didn't enjoy her demeanor it kind of dampened my mood. This was my first time seeing my mom in years and it would've been nice if we had a friendly waitress...The vibes would've been better lol. Restaurant is large with plenty of booths and tables for larger groups and birthday groups. Family friendly environment with cozy dim lighting and fun decor. Tables are cleaned and then have a sheet that is used as dining table cloth and coloring area for the kiddos. Servers color their name on the sheet so it's helpful to remember. I went here when visiting my friend in Spokane Washington and I would say it is a place you must stop by if you are craving Italian food. The restaurant itself is super spacious and has a playful, welcoming vibe. There are chalkboards to write your name on, and the tables are covered in paper with crayons; perfect for keeping kids entertained while you wait. The service was fast and friendly, always coming by and asking if the food was made to your liking. They even offered to comp one of our drinks since they didn't add the extra strawberry Purée by accident. The Bruschetta was amazing. The bread had that perfect crisp, the creamy pesto softened it just right, and the tomatoes were firm and sweet. The street steamers were my favorite appetizer, seafood is always a hit or miss, but they nailed it! I loved squeezing lemon over the clams, scooping them with bruschetta bread, and dipping everything into the sauce. Big serving which could feed a party of four. The baked artichoke spread was good, but my least favorite of the three appetizers. Simple dish with good flavor, but couldn't compare to the other two dishes. For my main dish, I had the Cajun Mostaccioli and it was delicious. Huge portion and perfectly seasoned. The bell peppers really brought out the Cajun spice, and the combo of pasta, sausage, and chicken was spot on. Easily shareable for two. For my drink I had the Strawberry funnel cake Martini. Tomato Street is one of the best restaurants in town! I love the ambiance of the place - with the unique decorations, to the cool hats on the servers. I've also never had a rude server here either, both at this location and the one in Coeur D' Alene. The food here is absolutely to die for. I'm a bit of a picky eater myself, but the Brick Oven Bollas are truly incredible! My family loves the tomato soup and mozzarella sticks. The meatball sandwich is also very good. I had Grandma's Lasagna and it did not disappoint. It was perfect! We loved the fun decorations (chalk wall, pasta filled windows, and tomato cans). Food 0/5 - Frozen, Overcooked, Poor Quality The T shirt bread that comes with a lot of the entrees tastes like it was frozen before. Not seasoned well. Both my partner and I were disappointed in our foods. My chicken Parm with a side of fettuccine Alfredo tastes worse than Ragu pasta from Walmart. The chicken was okay but it was burnt and greasy. The best part about the dinner was the water. On top of all this, the prices were so inflated! $30 for most if not all the entrees which was in my opinion so so much more than the actual quality of the food. Everything should have been in the $10 range. We ended up paying around $70 for one beer and two entrees. It would have been $20 cheaper if we would've went to red lobster right up the street. Service 5/5: Waitress in the bar area was very kind and accommodating which is the ONLY reason I gave 2 stars. She was very helpful with drinks and gave of taste tests of different ones before we found out what we wanted. Ambiance: 4/5 very chill. A cool environment, very casual and filled with normal looking people. A lot of people there to watch the seahawks play. it got a bit rowdy during the end of the game in the bar area. My wife and I hadn't been to Tomato Street for a few years but decided to try it again on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. Wish we hadn't. There is another place we usually go. Being "seniors," we try going out early and only once a week, usually preferring discount specials (not a have-to but always nice), yet the food must be good. We got neither, here. It is a popular place for some. There was a waiting list for the restaurant but the bar area was immediately available so that's where we went. We don't have appetizers or deserts, just an entree, with whatever accompaniments there are, often including a salad or soup. We each also have one (small) beer with our dinners. My first disappointment was in what I deemed to be fairly high prices, NOT compared to Happy Hour discounts but compared to other restaurants we know are good. We were brought a small basket with garlic bread slices (bread, slathered withe some oil and a hint of garlic) (might have been better toasted, but it was as advertised). Here, my wife ordered angel hair spaghetti with "vegetarian garlic and olive oil" sauce ($18.50 for oiled pasta, not sure about garlic). A small "house" salad or a cup of soup would have been an additional $2.85, each. She misinterpreted the sauce as being vegetarian meaning there were vegetables. Wrong. No veggies. Just oil, MAYBE garlic. Her angel hair pasta was overcooked (mushy). You can't cook that for the same amount of time as spaghetti. She very kindly mentioned that to our server who quickly offered to take it off our bill. She didn't. I let it go. I ordered spaghetti with meat sauce ($19.50), again no salad or soup. The only thing missing was the meat in the meat sauce. MAYBE a teaspoon? Because I was hungry, I also ordered the meatballs at $5. Glad I did. I actually couldn't eat everything so asked for a "to go" box. The server asked if I wanted some extra sauce to go with it, which she brought and I thanked her. Would have preferred it came sooner, but I appreciated the offer. Our beers from NoLi were to our liking except served warm in a slightly chilled glass. Sort of reminded me of warm beer in Germany. I prefer ice cold, but lessons learned. Total tab for two basic bowls of pasta, added meatballs, tax and standard tip: $51.00 We can name more restaurants that are less expensive in Spokane serving better pasta dishes (WITH soup or salad) but I'll leave it there. The service was amazing, one of the hosts overheard my son asking about more play dough and told him he can snag another bag on the way out to take home, my son was so excited. My kids loved the paper lined table to draw on. The kids menu is affordable, about $8 per dish. We had their bruschetta appetizer and this was the BEST. It came with a dipping sauce but honestly you can eat just the bread with how flavorful it is. I ordered their strawberry funnel cake cocktail and it smelt and tasted like the real thing. Definitely recommend it if you like sweet cocktails. I've always wanted to stop here but never did until recently. We stopped for dinner and were not disappointed. We had about a 15 minute wait and were seated by a very friendly hostess. Our waitress arrived to our table promptly and took our drink orders, bringing them out quickly. Our waitress was also very friendly and attentive. She took our food order and checked on us often. We ordered fried calamari as an appetizer to start, and it was cooked to perfection. I do wish the portion would have been a little bigger, but I have zero complaints about the flavor. We were all very happy with the way our food arrived. It was hot and looked and smelled delicious. The menu isn't the biggest, but the prices are reasonable and the ambiance is welcoming. We were there on a Saturday night and the restaurant was busy and lively, appearing to be close to full capacity which is always a good sign. It's been 25 years since I've had Tomato Street and it was as amazing as I remembered. The tomato heavy decor was cute. Our server Kato? was beyond amazing. We had 3 baskets of the bead. The bread deserves its own paragraph. Soft pillowy French bread drenched in so much butter it drips off your chin when you bite into it. The used of fresh garlic is evident in every bite. The flecks of crushed red peppers and parsley put this bread over the top. Homer drool We went for lunch and I got the baked trio. It was great and I liked the variety. I was with a party of 10 with a reservation for 4pm, December 20th at the Spokane location. We arrived 15 minutes early, notified the hostess, and were informed that we'd be seated promptly at 4pm. The lobby was empty when we arrived. By 4:05pm the lobby was filled with people including people standing in the walkway to the bar. I asked the hostess when out party would be seated. She replied we'd be seated at 4pm. I pointed out it was 4:05pm. The hostess said it'd be soon as they were trying to organize things. About ten minutes later we were seated. As we walked to our table, it was obvious the restaurant was largely empty even though the lobby was full and people were standing in the walkway to the bar. After we sat, my wife asked our waitress if they were short staffed. The waitress indicated that no, they had ample staff. She said they had a "pause" at the Restaurant between two and four pm. This is not the first time in the past few months that Tomato Street has been a stickler for not seating our party until the exact time of the reservation. Reserving a table with a specific number of guests and a stated time allows Tomato Street to manage worker shifts so the appropriate number of staff are attending to customers. Even if there is a pause between two and four pm, that time would give the restaurant more than ample time to plan/organize staff and tables for the upcoming reservations. I think it's bad for business to delay seating people with reservations except in rare circumstances. The longer you can have guests sitting at a table ordering things, the more profitable the table will be for the owners. Tomato Street - you can do better. read more

Raspberry Chicken Salad with candied walnuts and strawberries- it was yuck, and now I have lost my confidence to return for what I called 'Spokane's best salad'.
