First time eating at Pete's... been in Spokane for over 13 years and I can't believe I've never ordered their calzones. We went in yesterday during their Tuesday calzone special - $12 calzones. I ordered the pesto garlic chicken and I just say it was the right amount of pesto, tons of garlic, and the seasoning was spot on! I don't think I had one bland bite and I'm living for it. Definitely coming back! The calzones are big enough for two meals, but I was ravenous and devoured it all. The restaurant is quiet, smells good, and a great spot for lunch meetings if you ever need to meet someone. I recommend ordering your calzone over the phone before you get here as they quote about 30 minutes before they're ready. 10/10 read more

What happened to Pete's???? They are not the same, I don't know what Jake/Owner did to the recipes but it's not good. I'm bummed bc my parents took me here growing up in the 90's and I've been here as an adult, and they're flat, lifeless, the chicken cheddar calzone had no mozzarella (it used to have some, I know cheddar is in it) like it used to, but either way it was like a liquid mess inside this time. I do prefer their location on NW Blvd, where your meal is not being made by Gonzaga kids (it's been hit or miss over the years here). Where my disappointment falls is squarely on their decor. Pete's was the first place I ordered during quarantine .. it was a long time back, just when the quarantine started, and forgot to write :D Got 2 calzones .. a roasted garlic chicken and veggie gourmet. The chicken one was really nice .. to be honest .. a full calzone is too much of a meal .. I mean very decent size. The veggie one could have done with a bit more oomph .. like may be some seasoning or the pesto with a bit more punch .. it was still nice. This is the first time I've ever had a calzone! My kids said I'm spoiled now cuz this will be the best one I've ever had. So I'm not sure if other calzones have braids and are round like pot pies. I had a pepperoni, sausage and olive lite. Which is a smaller size. I couldn't finish it, I got so full so I can't imagine how big the full size would be. It was yummy. We were the only ones in there cuz it was Sunday at 3:00. We were walking through Gonzaga university and needed a late lunch. First time here today and I must say, very impressed. They probably have some of the freshest ingredients in town! The Caesar salad was chilled and fresh and crispy, very refreshing. Second time coming here for a to go order for a calzone and this experience was much better than my first go around! I did the Tuesday special, any calzone (up to 4 toppings or specialty) for $12 and I have plenty left over for lunch tomorrow too! I asked for pink sauce(not on the menu but it's marinara and their garlic sauce mixed), double pepperoni, ricotta, green olives (they get a whole star just for offering green ones!!), and extra cheese and it was soo good! Their pepperoni is fresh and not cheap like a lot of places use. Their website needs updating because the specials on there say ANY regular or lite calzone for $12 on Tuesdays but inside it says up to 4 toppings and the gal on the phone didn't give me my total, I just assumed it was $12 but since I got 5 toppings I was charged more(not a big deal and I didn't take stars away for that but most people want to have the pricing accurate!) The first visit here my calzone was soft and flat with hardly any sauce and toppings but this time it was a little more crispy and had plenty of toppings. The calzones probably taste even better if you aren't taking them to go but I would say they are a solid 4 stars, I wanna try their pizza at some point too. I think the place should be investigated for buying three dollar grocery store pizzas and putting them in a house oven and serving them. First, a note on parking. If you go around the back of the building there is a lot more than available trying to park on the street in front of the place. The decor inside is very comfy, and they have the requisite red and white checkered curtains of any Italian themed restaurant. I always wonder how that started. But I digress. Prices are very reasonable, and they have two sizes of calzone if you have a smaller appetite. They claim to be the calzone king, and having spent three years on the East Coast where the calzone was born, I had pretty high expectations. Here is the breakdown. Sauce is great. Little bit of a kick but probably tolerable by kids as well. The cheese is gooey and stretchy like good mozzarella ought to be. And the ingredients they stuff in there are great as well. However, the crust did not wow me. It wasn't horrible by any means, but if you are going to call yourself Calzone King, you better bring some serious buttery crusty goodness on the outside to pair with the great stuff inside. Overall a good calzone, but not king. That being said, I am not on the East Coast so this is a pretty good substitute. I would definitely recommend this place to any calzone fan. They have Buck 'n' Opie's root beer here too, which is my favorite brand, so that makes me happy. They also have a good selection of beer and wine for the grownups as well. read more

I've been going here since I was a little kid, playing the old school pac man game in the back hallway. Small hole in the wall atmosphere and never feels fully redecorated even though the interior changes every few years it seems (I stop in whenever I can when I'm in town seeing family). The parking is on the street parking and often busy from what I recall but I've always been able to find parking. I do suggest calling ahead, especially if you have kids with you. The wait is a minimum of 25 mins from the time you order. If it's busy, expect to wait a while. Knowing that though, it's definitely worth the wait. The crust is delicious and perfect, the sauce is good and they definitely don't skimp on the ingredients. I've searched for a better calzone for years and years and haven't found any that come even close. Delicious! FYI, I always order their Hawaiian (canadian bacon, olives and pineapple). The food is pretty darn good here! The calzones are massive and amazingly priced. You can easily get two meals out of the regular size calzone. I came in very hungry, ordered some cheese bites and a lite size calzone and still brought half the calzone home as leftovers!
