Good day, Yelpies What else can be said able this amazing place except that you should know the bartender is awesome and has great food and beverage recommendations. So do yourself a huge favor. If your planning on eating here call ahead and book a table(it worth it) if it's just you or plus one and your cool with sitting at the bar like me. Then walk on it and enjoy
We were in town dropping the kiddo off at college and wanted to go somewhere new and more upscale than our normal haunts. This place fit the bill. The downtown town location was easy to find (parking is what it is). The place is tucked into the middle of the block and is unpretentious. The interior is inviting and comfortable. The place was full when we got there and a little loud. Reservations are highly recommended. Upon getting seated (upstairs with a great view of the kitchen) we were greeted by our server and started ordering. My wife is gluten free and they have a special menu to show their accommodations. The food arrived quickly and tasted great. We will definitely be back.
Ally was one of the most attentive and knowledgeable servers I've had in awhile, she was awesome! Draft old fashioned was sweet and the gin bramble was very refreshing. We loved the stuffed Hungarian peppers and the beef tartare was flavorful as well. Fancy burger was the perfect portion and the hot honey pizza was good as well. Beet ravioli was delicious and goat cheese was subtle. We were celebrating a birthday so we got a handwritten note and complimentary chocolate coffee mousse!
We came here for my birthday dinner and it was fantastic! The vibe here is really nice with the hustle and bustle but the food/service was excellent! There is a very nice bourbon list which my husband was super impressed by. I had the scallops on top of rice and it was so perfectly cooed. I loved that it had some crispy potatoes on top which created that yummy texture. Everything we ate like the schnitzel, Cajun cauliflower, steak, and burgers were phenomenal. Will be back again if I'm in town. Definitely should make reservations when you go, this place is packed!
The food was pretty good except the pizzas are soggy because they don't cook them long enough. The acoustics are absolutely terrible so don't go there for a work discussion! The ambience is nice though they were a lot of people in there and it's a good solid food choice near the Davenport.
I don't care if you're a local or a tourist but this is one of the best restaurant spots in Spokane. We called in for a reservation on a Monday night and thank God we did. The food was amazing. I would've been truly happy with the appetizers and the drinks alone (a restaurant should be considered amazing when all you want to do is eat all the appetizers on the menu). I knew this was going to be an amazing restaurant when I told the host the name on the reservation and someone snuck in and taken our table. So the starters were amazing, the drinks were wonderful, the people at the table next to us raved about the schnitzel. That was the only thing they would eat on the menu, but I looked over and they were tucking into a piece or two of their friend's pizza. My only regret well at least two is that I don't live close enough to go back there and finish eating all the appetizers as well as having a chance to try the desserts. This is a place that truly deserves recognition for the ambience the drinks, the starters and the main dishes. Get a reservation... Have drinks, starters a couple main course dishes and let me know how the desserts are. Hopefully, I'll be sitting at a table next to you sharing how much I love this meal.

Add chicken, and it becomes a full meal. * Blistered Hungarian Peppers A must-order for us. 10/10 and something I'd happily come back for. * Wood-Fired Bone Marrow Rich and flavorful, though one bone didn't have much marrow, which was a little disappointing. * Chicken Wings Tasty and mostly flats (WIN ). Not crispy, so just something to know going in. * Beet Ravioli Such a pleasant surprise. Super creamy, not earthy at all, and better than expected. 17 Dec 2025 Had high hopes for this one based on the reviews, but food, drinks, ambiance, and value were all lacking. Our server was the lone bright spot but didn't spot the cocktail we left unfinished for our entire meal and offer to take it off the check. My suspicion is this place started off well but has lost key people and is now coasting on their track record. Look elsewhere. By the numbers: Food 3/5 Drinks 3/5 Service 4/5 Ambiance 3/5 Value 2/5 Country-style pork chop - Fair. Thin, dry chop full of tough gristle. Not the level of quality you'd expect in a $34 chop. Almost sent it back. Tavern burger - Very good. This was my date's choice, and I wish I'd ordered this. Jerk cauliflower - Poor. Came out looking good and had good flavor, but oil was not hot enough or not drained, and the bottom half of the dish was saturated in fry oil. Tart cherry Negroni - Poor. When you riff of a Negroni, there's a fine line between cough syrup or legend. This was bad cough syrup but somehow one of their most popular drinks. Oaxacan - Fair. Too sweet and lacked balance from citrus and bitter.
I've been to the Wooden City locations in Seattle and Tacoma and was excited to try this location. We came in with a group of 7 and a reservation on a Thursday night. The menu features a variety of unique dishes and woodfired pizzas, with entrees being on the pricey end. The cocktail menu is also impressive. Appetizers: The seasonal pizza (which we ordered for the table) was perfectly wood fired and the french onion soup ($14) was very nice. Entrees: The Surf and Turf ($54) with filet mignon and lobster ravioli was very unique and well presented. I wasn't a huge fan of the ravioli filling but the pasta dough seemed very fresh. My friend very much enjoyed the filet mignon part. Desserts: The desserts were fall themed and lovely. We ordered them all - the apple crisp and pumpkin cheesecake were our favorites. The interior is luxurious wood cabin vibes. Staff are awesome!
Ate here with a party of three. We were seated immediately, and within 15 minutes of us sitting down, the place was packed. Let's unpack this place. Service is ridiculous -- in the best way. Every person here knows their restaurant inside and out. Just A+. Our server tonight was aces. The restaurant has a soft, warm vibe, and that $30k pizza oven is a home run. We had the Beet Ravioli, Chicken Schnitzel, and Bacon Pesto Pizza -- all recommended by our server and another gentleman who brought our drinks. I've never had melt-in-your-mouth chicken before. Check. Confirm. This place does it. The piece of chicken was football-field large and absolutely delicious. The pizza was fantastic -- pesto, bacon, and we added chicken. It also had red onion. Fun fact: get it with buffalo sauce. Beet Ravioli... who knew beets and goat cheese in a ravioli could be this good? Light, flavorful, and downright delicious. We also shared the Caribbean wings -- the best crispy wings I've had. Just delicious. This place deserves every star -- not just for the food, but for the staff. The owner should be proud!
Waitress and atmosphere are amazing. Seating is not the best as we were a party of 5 and sat in a u shaped booth with made it difficult to hear across the table without yelling since it was quite busy therefore loud inside. Reservation is a must as they were packed. Food was decent I forgot to take a photo of the dishes except for the dessert which unfortunately was partly eaten.
Came in tonight for a solo snack and drink at the bar. Found a seat at the bar no problem but the place was packed by the time I left at 6 pm...on a Tuesday. I tried the Caribbean jerks wings and jerk spiced cauliflower and both were fantastic. The wings were super crispy and plump with great ranch and a good portion size. The cauliflower was well sliced and soft and savory. I would get both in a heartbeat and would definitely come back. Bar staff were so nice and friendly as well.
Outstanding! Our first time here and quite impressed with the food, the atmosphere, and the superb service from the staff! The Wait staff was attentive and clearly was interested in ensuring our satisfaction. The Bone Marrow was delicious and the Spicy Lamb Rigatoni had just enough heat and cooked exactly as expected. Overall, a truly great dining experience!

I was in Spokane for a conference and stumbled upon Wooden City because it is on the Spokane "where to eat list". A deeper dive showed a good possibility of gluten free options, so I made the reservation. I was in town on a Monday, just after Hoopfest, but they were the kind of busy where a reservation should always be made I think. My table was ready and I sat in the bar at a high top table. I think I would choose "in the dining room" next time. My server was friendly and quick, as well as knowledgeable about gluten free options. There is even a separate menu that lays out the dishes that are already gf or could be made to be. Love this, always. I ordered the summer salad to start. It was amazing. Flavorful. Fresh. The mint wasn't overpowering, the watermelon was the perfect ripeness. It was so good. I would try to recreate it but it was done so well, and I know I couldn't hit that dressing in the same way. Get it while you can. For my main, I had ordered the scallops in my brain before I even arrived. The risotto was a little soupy, but the flavor was SO good. The corn came through and it went so well with the scallops. The tomatoes were quite over salted, but as long as I didn't eat them alone, it was alright. The scallops were perfectly cooked and I felt like the portion was appropriately sized for the dish, even though there were only 4. My server really made the experience enjoyable. The atmosphere was busy but the booths looked like they could be cozy. The prices were on the higher end. But for a special occasion, it was worth it. I really wished I'd had room for dessert. I will surely go back the next time I am in town. read more

I bought two Margherita pizza's. One from Wooden City and one from Barrelhouse so I could do a taste test after not being able to decide which one to go to. First off, I was looking for an authentic Napoli style pizza. Like a fresh red sauce from crushed tomatoes and a beautiful chewy, pillowy, yet charred crust. The verdict: Wooden City is the winner! The crust is really really good! The sauce is a bright beautiful tomato sauce that looks like crushed tomatoes however, the sauce was lacking flavor:( I would give this pizza a 3 out of 5. The crust is a 4 1/2 star but the sauce lacking in flavor..brought it down to a 3. Cute place, very pleasant friendly staff..way friendlier vibe than Barrelhouse. The boys are easy on the eyes for younger girls on the hunt! Lmao Don't bother with the Margherita pizza at Barrelhouse. Thank God I only paid $12 for the Margherita Monday deal of half off! The crust was horrible! Dominos has better crust! Costco pizza's had a better crust! The sauce has flavor, very garlicky like fresh garlicky but more of a paste with a load of oregano in it. The cheese didn't have that fresh taste I was hoping for. However, they are known for their Detroit pizza's which I haven't tried but if it's the same sauce, I would pass. Not saying it's bad but it's just not MY cup of tea whether it's for a Detroit style or any pizza. Now you don't have to guess which place has a better Margherita pizza. I wouldn't even pay $12 at Barrelhouse for a marg. Would I come back, yes, if I were in my 20's.. lol but since I'm older and the food is more important to me...no...:/ But hey, maybe their other pizza's are better! During my stay in Spokane, a colleague recommended I try the fancy burger at this spot for dinner. The restaurant was about half full when I arrived, with a lively but comfortable atmosphere. Since I was dining alone, I was seated at the counter. While that makes sense, I personally prefer table seating--having the option would have been appreciated. I ordered the fancy burger and a pineapple daiquiri drink. The burger lived up to its name: visually appealing and packed with flavor. The drink was refreshing and paired nicely with the meal. Service was smooth, and overall, I had a satisfying dining experience. I'd like to come back with someone next time and enjoy a table seat. read more

The atmosphere of Wooden City was so awesome! The service here is so great with a whole upstairs area. The food was amazing - the croutons on the Caesar salad were the best I've ever had! The burrata was delicious and great to share. They had a good selection of wine and beer also! read more

We had a great experience here! The service was fantastic -- friendly, attentive, and full of great recommendations for both local beers and dishes. We started with the salmon toast, which was the perfect appetizer to share -- just the right amount for two people. For entrées, we ordered the lamb rigatoni and the beet ravioli. I'll admit, I wasn't totally sold on the beet ravioli at first, but our server insisted it was amazing, and I'm so glad I listened -- it absolutely was! The flavors were balanced and unique without being overpowering. My friend loved the lamb rigatoni. I'm not a huge lamb fan myself, but if you are, it's definitely worth ordering. Overall, the food, drinks, and service made this a great dining experience -- highly recommend! read more
Back in Spokane and couldn't resist going to Wooden City... ended up dining there two nights in a row because it really is the best restaurant in town! The Caesar salad is spot on, with perfectly crispy-on-the-outside, soft-on-the-inside homemade croutons. The beet ravioli, scallops, and surf & turf were all excellent and definitely dishes I'd recommend trying. Service is consistently friendly and efficient, which makes the whole experience even better. Wooden City never disappoints! read more

Very nice place. Expensive, but good with good service. Joe and Xavier were terrific. We had the blistered Hungarian peppers and the Burrata Tomatoes for appetizers and they were great. The Pizzas were also great, and cooked nicely. Lemon bar for dessert was also good. Would definitely would go back. read more
It felt right to share another 5 star review for the dozen or more times we've been there in the past couple of years. This place quickly became our go-to date night spot. If you're not starting with the Hungarian Peppers, what are you even doing?? I love that their menu changes seasonally and some of their rotators appear year over year so you have something to look forward to. (Message to management: please don't ever stop with the spring Scallops and the summer Lemon Bar - we'll cry if you do!) read more

I have been waiting to try Wooden City for a very long time and was so excited to finally get the chance after seeing a show at a nearby theater. When I approached the hostess stand she told me the wait for dinner for two would be over an hour. Didn't have time for that so asked about sitting at the bar directly behind her and instantly found two available bar stools. Not sure why that wasn't immediately offered as an alternative but that's the least of my concerns tonight. The pros: my husband and I had a couple of good cocktails-Old Fashioned and a Spritz. The food was delicious but the oil will, without a doubt, leave me reaching for heartburn medication tonight. Wanted to try a pizza but decided to go with a variety of appetizers that sounded too good to pass up-polenta, shrimp, broccolini...everything sounded so good! The ENORMOUS con: After we finished eating my husband noticed the bartender that had been serving us hadn't moved the bar rag off his shoulder. Seemed odd, so he kept watching him and noticed it was there because he kept repeatedly rubbing his running nostrils with it. His nose was running enough that the end of the towel was visibly soaked through where he was wiping his nose and then handling all of the glasses, water pitcher, plates and flatware for people eating at the bar, checks and pens, etc. From the time we noticed to the time we got up and left was at least 20 minutes and he didn't wash his hands once. We'd already finished eating and drinking and it completely turned our stomachs. Not sure how we missed it earlier-I guess we were just engrossed in our own conversation. While I understand working while sick may be a necessity for some, I'd encourage the management of Wooden City to come up with an appropriate way for a sick bartender to prioritize good hygiene practices as the role requires interaction with so many people. After my experience tonight I won't be returning, nor would I recommend to family or friends. It was the absolute last thing anyone who is dining out wants to see - before, during, or after eating and trying to enjoy a night out. Serious room for improvement at this restaurant. read more
