We went to Poachers to watch a World Cup match. We were going to leave at half time to grab dinner and noticed they had mexican food. I had no idea they had food! We were happy with our seats at the bar so we ordered nachos. What a delightful suprise. They were great. Chips were crispy, plenty but not too many toppings and arranged beautifully. The guacamole is exceptional. We went back the next night for tacos which were equally as good. Who knew, a little hole in the wall bar would have such great mexican food. read more

Great little pub in mountain village! It was a great place to grab some grub after being on the slopes all day. We enjoyed their bloody Mary's and some awesome sandwiches. It's not fancy, but it is all you could ever want from a local pub. Great drinks, comfort food, and excellent prices (even for Telluride). The service leaves a little bit to be desired but I could tell the staff were working their butts off (Another Covid related issue I'm sure, no fault of the business). Norm was our waiter and bartender - real friendly guy, great service. Made me a great Bloody Mary mmm. CC and I ordered lunch at the bar. He got a chicken Caesar avocado salad and I ordered a veggie wrap with dressing on side and waffle fries. The wrap came out w dressing in it but they were cool and remade it for me without a problem. Poachers Pub near the ski town Telluride offers a great option for those who don't want to pay "ski town" pricing. We were pleasantly surprised by the proximity to the ski resort and with very fair prices too! Our party all got beers (which were also fairly priced) that happened to be great draft selection. We also go great prices mixed drinks as well. My meal was the fish and chips and am a big critic of fish and chips typically (being Australian). The cod was cooked well and was really tender. It was a great meal and I was very happy with the taste and not a piece was left over. They had a pool table, foosball table, and some retro games. Not a bad place to grab a brew and head back onto the slopes. The lunch menu is small, but you are sure to get a pretty unique and tasty basket of grub. I had the Burrito Porito, a fish wrap with spinach and salsa - excellent (but kind of spicy). Meals are served in baskets with paper lining, so the presentation isn't classy, but then again, the whole atmosphere isn't exactly 5-star. Why should it be, since it's a quick refueling point while you're burning calories on the slopes? The service was the best thing they had going. The bar tender was very communicative and helpful, and he did quite a bit to keep the place clean and the guests well cared for. While I've praised them up to this point, I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to see if my review is accurate. Telluride offers a great deal of dining/lunch options, so there's little reason to parade through Mountain Village just for a beer and a sandwich. As a comment to my personal interests, this is not the kind of establishment you are likely to find me hanging around on a Friday evening; too many ski-bum bar flies. read more

Went for dinner during their off season. Hours 1130-7p is what they advertise. However their kitchen closes at 6p. Being the only place that is open in Mountain Villange your choices are limited. Bartender was so busy taking care of her regulars that she totally ignored me until I had to stop her. Service needs major improvement Food. Ordered the Fish and Chips. They need lessons on how to prepare these. It tasted like frozen battered fish from a bag with waffle fries. If your not a regular steer clear during the off season. Service 0/10 - As a waiter myself, I have never seen such horrendous service to a customer. I didn't have a mask on so the server told me to sit at table while my friends ordered up front for me. But while bringing my card to friend to pay the server said "you can follow the f***ing rules or get out" as I was waking back to my seat. Enjoyable place in Mountain Village. Was in town for my brothers wedding and we frequented this pub. The prices are good and the bartender was very attentive. Drinks were mixed well too. So we wanted to love this place. We had a few recommendations and I asked for a place where I could get a "burger and beer". Guy said I was in luck because he works at Poachers and that's the best. Well, after getting my beer I realized they don't even have burgers. WTF. So I asked for recommendations but the waiter (who was obviously stoned) just looked at me for a full 3 minutes. I asked if the Mac & Cheese was good. He smiled very largely and nodded. I ordered it. I got the jalapeno and bacon added. It came in this weird tiny to go carton. THe jalapenos took up like 35% of the entire thing (I'd order lite jalapenos if you go). The beer was fine (got a Fishwater IPA), and my friend liked her fish and chips. The chips were huge and tasty. The ambience outside is cool and there was a free concert. The menu and wait staff are the reason for my review. read more

My family arrived in Telluride in the off season. We showed up at about 9:30pm and we found out that all of the restaurants closed at 10. Luckily, we stumbled across Poachers Pub. It was very late but we were still welcomed in and fed. We got great service and the food was very tasty. The cheese curds are great!
