We came in and got our beer soon enough but then was ignored. When we finally got her attention, she stood at the end of the bar to take our order from the end of the bar. I told her to come closer to take our order as I refused to yell down the bar. The founder and grits were good. We came in because they had a big sign advertising a wing special. Can't get the special because it was for the evening but the sign did not state that. I think they should have said so. Anyway don't get the wings. It was not worth it. The bartender was horrible. I remember looking at the menu and seeing the Irish Nachos and making a joke that they probably used potatoes instead of nacho chips. You know Irish people, always putting potatoes in everything! This is the best Irish bar in Charleston located on Church St a block away from the Market. Locals patronage the place as well as tourists. The atmosphere on Saturday nights is lively and carefree. TC's is a decent spot to grab a pint and a bite of cheap pub food if you want to sit out side on their deck, but the interior is pretty tired and drab, even for an irish pub. It's authentic in the sense that it looks as though it belongs in Quincy, Massachusetts and not Charleston, SC, in that it should be filled with a bunch of 60 year old irish guys sluggin back whiskey's, but that's about the extent of the authenticness of it... If you want to grab a quick bite and are sick of sea food in Charleston, this isn't a horrible option especially since its large and usually there is no wait for seating and food. read more

This is a decent little Irish place in downtown Charleston behind the market. This is my second time eating at Tommy's and on both occasions I left thinking... this place is alright.. nothing to jump up and down about but still pretty good. The fish and chips are a tad bit Blaine, and could use some more flavor. The shrimp and grits are really good, and the Reuben is spoken highly of as well. We came for the entertainment and we loved it. The Bograts were spectacular as always, which is the only reason we stayed. We ordered appetizers - cod bites - which were ordinary at best. The service was the worst. My app plate was still on front of me two hours later and I finally put it on the windowsill. She still didn't take it. Pass on this when you go near Market Street We picked this restaurant pretty much because it as the first one we came upon and we were hot and tired. The server Jason was attentive but the food was not good. The she crab soup was mediocre and the crackers were stale. I had a shrimp po boy that was awful! The roll was stale the sauce was unidentifiable. The lettuce was brown and wilty and tomatoes old and watery. I decide to just eat the shrimp which were just passable but I asked for mayo/sauce to go with them. He never came back with any sauce just an excuse that he couldn't find any. Even the pickle was limp and discolored. The waiter offered me a replacement but at that point I was done. He then gave me $3 off of a meal I ate a minimal portion of. In reality I don't think he should have charged me for the meal itself. However, my husband like his fish and chips. I heard another woman at a nearby table say her food was bad as well. They have a phenomenal beer selection from all over the States and UK. I had everything from a Boddington's to a $3 Irish Car Bomb. I passed by this place a couple times and decided to try it one night. They had a sign that said half price burgers so I asked the server if that included everything in the column that had burgers (which had some sandwiches as well because they only had 2 or 3 burgers and mainly sandwiches) and he said yes. I ended up ordering the Reuben. I got the bill and was charged full price. When I asked my server about it he said he had misunderstood my question and said he would get it taken care of for me. When he came back he said management said they would only remove the $2 for the salad upcharge. He said I didn't have to tip to make up for the difference, but I did because I wouldn't have stiffed him. Nice place, the evening I went they had an Irish band in singing songs and taking requests. The food was good bar/pub food and the atmosphere is exactly what you expect when you go to a place like Tommy Condon's. This review is ONLY for the food and the service. I've never been to Tommy Condon's at night, so I can't comment on the nightlife-type scene. The only bad thing about this place is that it is 3000+ miles from where I live. I've never been disappointed by the service, and the food? Oh, man. The food. OH. MAN. Their fish and chips are life-changing. I DREAM of the fish and chips from Tommy Condon's. I've tried fish and chips ALL OVER THE COUNTRY just to try to find a place that even holds a candle to Tommy Condon's and I have always been disappointed. The draft beers must have been the 1st pours of the day, they tasted like stale beer sitting in the line overnight. $1 OJ and cheap champagne was a good deal, just using cheap champagne. Food was average at best but for the most part very poor quality. Fried oysters were a very small portion of small oysters with fishy flavor, not fresh. My daughters ribs were very fatty and basically heated up. Biscuits and gravy were served cold and lacking flavor. Service was good but slow at times. We will not go back. The tables and bathrooms were very dirty. My wife handed my wet naps to wipe my hands so I also wiped the table. Guess what, table was filthy dirty! We won't be back. My wife & I recently walked here from our nearby hotel with our 10-month old boy, as we needed something convenient, and we hoped that this spot would be easy, fun, family-friendly, and delicious for dinner one Saturday night. Well, it was! This place was easy-going, had a great food and drinks menu, great service and overall value, and would be ideal for watching sports or attending happy hour, or just for grabbing a bite of lunch or dinner with family or friends. First time eating in Charleston and I was was greatly surprised at the quality of this pub. Always looking for a good seafood dinner, I ordered the grilled shrimp basket. Not only was the shrimp delicious, but the fries were outstanding. I also was lucky to taste the crab soup which I would highly recommend to any chowder lover. The server was very nice and quickly exchanged a coleslaw for a member of my party on finding it to be a bit warm. Nicely surprised. Simple caesar - dressing on the side with rye bread croutons - nice twist. Table on the deck near sidewalk, cool breeze, efficient, polite server. Cheap wine but drinkable. I decided to be a game gal & went with it - ordered the pulled pork, no bread, no fries. He had fish and chips, started with a wedge salad - great salad he pronounced! Mine was fresh and tasty. Despite my initial snobbish disdain, I "cleaned my plates" and had 2 glasses of the Rex Goliath - I am pretty sure I could buy a bottle for the $7 I spent on the glass. All in all - not only just "not bad" but pretty good. A near Memphis BBQ gal enjoyed the Carolina tangy style sauce. Worth a stop if, like us, you forget to make reservations at the fancier & much more pricey places. This bar was recommended to us for a good place to spend the evening drinking and listening to live music. The bar area was reminiscent of an Irish pub - lots of wood and dark.
