Oh, man, we just dropped by between lunch and dinner for a snack. We ordered the hummus and the fried green tomatoes. They were terrible - super oily with no flavor whatsoever. My wife and I saw this place while on a carriage tour and decided to check it out. When we arrived we were asked if we wanted to sit inside or on the porch, we chose outside and glad we did! The breeze was great and it was nice watching what was going on in the busy street. She ordered the Bookmaker which is a steak sandwich with onions and peppers. It was very tasty. I ordered the Fish And Chips, the batter was very good and the fish was juicy and delicious. We each had two beers with dinner and our bill was surprisingly fairly cheap. (I think it was like $52 and with a coupon less than 50 bucks) the waitress was very nice and friendly, she even drew us out a walking route on our map of places to see. Been here once about 10 years ago and again for dinner last night. Good drink specials and half off burgers on Tuesday. Nice deal. Not sure the beer rang up correctly and we (along with the family at the next table over) were not thrilled with the frat boys sitting at the next table over, but good food, good prices, and a beautiful patio made up for it. Visiting Charleston and was looking for an affordable place to enjoy some drinks and appetizers. This place fit the bill and did not disappoint. The she crab soup was good, as were the Irish nachos and pretzel ale dip. There was a duo performing live music in this comfortable dark wood setting. Went with a group of about 10 here, and we were seated outside (under the tent part). I think the fact that we were all starving definitely helps up my opinion of this place. Some people got the crab cake appetizer and I will say I was a huge fan of those. I'm pretty picky when it comes to my crab cakes. I hate when they have too many onions and not enough crab, but these were perfect. A friend and I split the salmon and pasta entree. The salmon was good, but it had sooo much spice on it (which may be why it was good). I thought it was the perfect amount for me and I left satisfied with my meal, the prices, and the service. I also like the location, it's right near market st. After dinner we all walked around and looked at the beautiful churches and houses around the neighborhood. read more

Supposedly the "Most Authentic Irish Pub in Charleston." Well, I'm not too sure about the "Authentic" part, but it's okay for your basic pub food. When the weather's nice, I'd recommend sitting out on the covered deck. Expect a fair amount of tourists given it's proximity to the Market. Good onion rings. read more

Good Sheppard's Pie can be hard to find, but I knew from a previous visit to Charleston that Tommy Condon's had a good one. What I had forgotten was just how good it was. Tommy's was on my list of must visit restaurants when I planned a return trip to the low country. I of course ordered the Sheppard's Pie and my GF ordered the fish and chips. I was pleased to see that they had Sweetwater 420 available (since I can't get it after I moved to Texas) and so I made sure to grab a bottle of that as well, the GF got a double of Jack on the rocks and it was a healthy double. We didn't have long to wait before the food arrived, and we were very pleased with our meals when it did. The Sheppard's Pie here is made with real braised lamb not hamburger and it makes a big difference. The broth used to hold it all together is also quite flavorful and tasty and it has a heaping helping of hearty vegetables as well. There was enough on my plate to request a box to take half of it home and eat later in the week and it was just as good heated up as it was fresh. My GF also enjoyed her fish and chips and was very happy with her meal. We ended out meal with the Snickers ice cream pie and it was a real treat as well, not too sweet but still nice and rich. We chose to sit outside on the patio instead of inside and that was my one real mistake. The last time I had eaten here it was later in the evening and later in the year. It is simply too hot in early September to sit outside and eat right after dusk. Also the the no see ums were out in force and there aren't any screens or bug deterrents at hand to fend them off. We chose to move inside for dessert and our waitress was very accommodating and understanding when we asked her to do so. If like me you enjoy a good Sheppard's Pie then Tommy Condon's is the place to go when visiting downtown Charleston. It's good food and I can't get enough of that. read more

The shrimp and grits were good enough that this native Northerner and his wife who hates grits both loved them. The Shepherd's pie was also great. Good beer selection, and a casual atmosphere that was fine for kids -- a rarity in downtown Charleston. read more

Fiona was our waitress, friendly and efficient. Husband had the patty melt and enjoyed it. I had the Bookmaker, a prime rib sandwich...meat was tough. Should have tried something else. Fried green tomatoes were good, didn't need corn relish. Guinness and Murphys was great. Filling meal. read more

Visiting from Houston, we stumbled upon this bar while walking down the street. We heard the live music, which was okay, but decided to stop in. I didn't have any food, but the drinks were good. Charleston has sold out full-scale to the tourist thing, compared to my collegiate experience of the lat 80's but Tommy Condon's is still a go to place if you are downtown near the market. Now that there is really no nightlife in this part of town, just places geared toward separating visitors from money I suspect there is seldom a real local that eats/drinks here unless it is by happenstance. All the same, a trip here does bring back memories of a time when Cafe 99 and many other hotspots were near-by and TC's would be a starting point for a fun evening. Get the Holy City Porter and anything from the menu and you cannot go wrong. Make sure to get off your duff and raise a toast when they play Dixie. read more

As a vegetarian, I had a difficult time finding something on the menu that I would eat. Settled on Mexican food since it was all that was available. I would not recommend the Mexican food here. The other food looked good to the taste but not good for the waist. read more

The bartenders (shout out to Doug, Joe and Christine) were so nice and accommodating -- let me charge my dreaded Samsung Galaxy, refilled my Bourbon, and kept me smiling while I was on vacation. all you can eat fish n chips .... server never asked would you like more. then no additional tarter sauce or fries. when i asked for two more fish pieces and could i get fries and tarter sauce that was not part of the special. Guess i need to work on reading g comprehension as only the fish was all you can eat. Definitely would not recommend for lunch or dinner. read more

I chanced upon this location after a few locals suggested it and have mixed feelings. First of the atmosphere is a typical Irish bar scene. The night that I was having dinner there, a few local musicians were playing some songs. This was very enjoyable and probably the best part of the meal. As for the food, you definitely get the quantity but the quality is lacking. The food was very greasy and not very well put together. In the middle of South Carolina this place is a pretty good Irish pub. Service is pretty good. Patio is great in warm weather. I fondly remember this being the first place I tried Abita nearly a decade ago. Highly recommend it if you're in Charleston and want a good pub feel.
