I ride a handcycle that is large, unwieldy, and a right pain to work on let alone get right. A handcycle is an upside down bicycle which hurts your brain when adjusting. I grew up with this business on 3rd street and surprised that they moved to a building on the highway. But they seem to have a lot more room in the new location. They have always been great employees and I have bought a bike from them before. They made suggestions to buy a bike lock and they even adjusted the seat for my short little self. read more

I took a 33 year old kids bike in to get it into riding shape again. The staff was incredibly helpful suggesting improvements I hadn't even considered possible. They even suggested some DIY cleaning of the chrome that worked fantastic. I have pictures of the bike back in the 90's and it looks new again. read more

I wouldn't buy my bikes at this store. I didn't feel appreciated as a customer. The woman who works there is very nice and helpful. However, when I asked for a test ride on a Trek Allant+ 7S I was just given the bike, but not offered a helmet to wear in traffic or even help with seat height adjustment. Also, the bike wasn't setup properly, I couldn't get full leg extension, the seat wasn't straight and the tires were low on air, etc. I was also going to test ride and purchase a Verve+ 3 model for my gf, but my legs were cramped up from the first test ride, and I never got to try it. I wondered, how would I be treated if I returned a bike with a service issue..? I thought that I would rather not find out and just try another store. read more

I have taken bikes here on two occasions. First was when the bike shop and repair were in the same location. I paid $100 for my grandson's bike to have tire repair and pedal attached. The first time riding it the pedal fell off . In the new location I had my son's used bike (not an expensive bike) in for a tire repair. This time it was $115. Seriously? read more

Sadly I purchased a very expensive new Trek bike here and the paint is poor quality probably made in China and when I brought bike to owner to ask for help or warranty he was rude and blew me off, he also blew off a girl I sent to buy a new Trek there and she found him rude also and a poor lady in front of me needed help with a flat repair and he was rude to her also. read more

I've been a fan of Tommy's ever since I was just checking out McMinnville, and an employee spent 20 minutes showing me the best places to ride. What was dangerous (West Side Road has no shoulder and fast hay and log trucks), what was good, where to go. When the phone rang, I asked, "aren't you going to answer that?" The employee shrugged and said, "I'm with a customer." I thought that was good service. I buy a lot of frankly weird bike items (two-speed fixed gear cogs), and Tommy's is always happy to order them for me. The price is the same (sometimes lower) than ordering online, and I don't have to pay shipping. read more

Nicest Bike shop Anywhere I stopped in the shop with a group of 3 other cyclists. We were visiting from the Bay Area for a biking vacation. Patrick gave us great suggestions for rides and then right before our eyes somone rode off with my bike from in front of the bike store. Patrick mobilized the McMinnville community on Facebook and loaned me a bike to ride for the day. Amazingly the bike was recovered and Patrick checked it out and changed the flat tire. I haven't ridden a bicycle in 20 years, but decided I really needed to do some low-impact exercise. So I cleaned up my old Schwinn Continental 10-speed and brought it into Tommy's to see if they could get it ready for the street again. They installed new tubes and tires front and back, lubricated and adjusted everything, and replaced the rear reflector (that I had broken clumsily loading the Schwinn into the back of the car). Well, my old Schwinn looks and feels new again and I couldn't be happier with the work performed by Tommy's. BTW, it's a beautiful bike shop with a great selection of Trek bicycles. My husband and I were visiting from San Francisco and he needed a specific tool to fix his pedal (if he couldn't fix it, the purpose of our trip would've ended there and he would've been very sad). When he went to Tommy's they were out of stock of the tool but Patrick kindly sold him his own personal one for $5! So unbelievably nice!! I went here because I got a flat tire and didn't have the tools to change it myself. They charged me $11 for a replacement inner tube, and changed it. The next day, my tire was flat again! I cam in and got my money back, then went to Walmart and got a good quality inner tube for less than $5, and had a friend help me change it out. Turns out the cheap quality inner tube they gave me had split at the seam, maybe from overfilling it with air. Shame on them, they should know better. They also tried to talk me into getting both my brake pads replaced, $30 for the pads, and $30 for labor!!!! I paid six bucks total for my new pads, which I got in Portland, and they work just fine. Come here if you want to waste money. Since it's the only bike shop in McMinnville, I'm sure many people do. read more

These guys are the best! Professional, helpful, fair, and no-nonsense. Pat has owned the shop forever, and knows bikes- from little pink Huffys to high-end carbon fiber road machines. Over the years, our family has bought enough bikes from Tommy's to fill up a couple of garages, and we wouldn't go anywhere else. read more
