I just had a breakfast taco from there and I won't exaggerate. That might be the best egg cheese and bacon taco I've had in my life.

I tried to get the man behind the counter to understand that I wanted half a muffaletta, with no mayo. I expressed this in several different ways, because the confused expression on his face indicated that none of it was registering. In the end I gave up and accepted the whole, giant sandwich wheel. It wasn't till I got home that I realized he'd misunderstood more than just the size I was asking for. I can't tell you how much I despise mayonnaise (unless I'm having a BLT, and am thoroughly in charge of the application of the condiment). Why would it even be an option, mayo on a muffaletta? It would be just as ridiculous to have to specify "no ketchup" on one. I don't mean to come off as overly dramatic, here, but that bite was more harmful to me than anything that has ever happened to anyone in the history of humankind. You're probably thinking, "He-LLO . . . Have you seen Schindler's List?" And you may have a point. I sat through that whole film just letting valuable hours pass me right by. But this sandwich thing was even worse. So, after all that bitching, why the five stars, Mike? Because I know it would have been good without the mayonnaise. And because I remember the old Antone's. Not gonna let one assassination attempt ruin that history. I can't go back until I'm completely fluent in Spanish, though. Como se dice "mayo" in espanol?

I ordered the Tejano Cesar Zepplin and added double chicken, pickled onions and halved tomatoes with a side of tomato, basil soup and it was all so good. I've never had a zeppelin until before now and it's the best way to describe it is that it's the cross between a sandwich and a salad. What it is exactly is a loaf of bread with the inside taken out so that it's like more of a shell and then it is a salad bowl like mixture stuffed in there. I feel like it's the perfect lunch because It's super filling, but also very light, and healthy! What more can you ask for. Wish I could even give this location 6 stars because I came about 40 minutes before close and he gave me 2 bread puddings for free because they were about to close.

They warm the bread, remove the inside and leaves the crispy outside to fill in with salad. Their salad recipes are good, especially the southwest one with avocados and black beans. Substitutions seem welcome and you get to choose your own sauce. Of course, let's not forget they offer Zapp's chips, which are delicious. Overall great and filling meal. Oh, so many tables to sit alone or as a group. Great place to be ! Leaving satisfied and would want to come back!

Clearly the glass had not been properly cleaned. I brought it to the bartender's attention and while she offered to remake the drink, there was no apology beyond that, no refund offer, and honestly no sense of urgency or concern about serving a dirty glass. By that point, I was completely put off and declined the replacement. I understand mistakes happen, but cleanliness at a bar should be the bare minimum, especially when it comes to drinkware. Unfortunately, this experience ruined the visit for me and I won't be returning.

So I asked the proprietor "are you still serving breakfast?" His response "depends on what you want". Ok...how about breakfast tacos? He looks around the corner, replies "nope, those are done". So I wait for a few awkward seconds to see if he would tell me what's available. No info came. So I asked him "so are you switched over to lunch now then?". Yes, we have switched to lunch. Apparently in the last 37 seconds of that conversation, they have switched to lunch. Could have just told me that from the start and saved a lot of grief. So, by now I should have known better, but I asked "how about a latte?". We don't have lattes. Just a cup of coffee then? He looks at me like I am just a thorn in his side and responds "I would have to make a new pot just for you." I said "thanks"....and walked out.

I'd paid $2 for some cheese, olives and other veggies for my subbed salad. Definitely give it a shot if you are visiting the buildings. They have breakfast (all day?) and daily lunch specials.

And it's been true for 15 years. Luckily they are around H-Town and my last visit I was staying relatively klose to the Westheimer location. Gotta admit that it is a beautiful and spacious location with outdoor dining and a playscape for the kids. Inside is an open dining concept that still allows patrons to have private conversations. The staff is super friendly and attentive and even the manager comes by asking about the service and food. Speaking of... I ordered a cup of chili, a Reuben and my favorite, the Yankee pot roast. Of course, not all of it for me as I had a friend with me. Chili was spot-on Texas style and not too spicy. The Reuben was delicious and the right amount of portions with the corned beef, sauerkraut and Russian dressing. The rye bread was moist so the hard edges didn't tear up the upper part of my mouth. But the Yankee pot roast sandwich was heavenly. First bite brought me back 30 years ago when I first had it. So happy that the recipe is still the same where every bite brings comfort and satisfaction. I hope they eventually make it back to Austin. We need a good deli with exceptional sandwiches and other tasty food. And I'll always remember Marc Katz proclaiming on TV, "Katz Never Kloses!!"

We came right when they opened and got seated right away. The restaurant itself isn't super big so reservations is recommended. They have seating inside and outside and most of the booth seating was reserved up already. We weren't super hungry so we shared some brisket nachos and some ribs. Both were amazing. The nachos had an asian flavor which we enjoyed. It had a lot of flavor but wasn't overwhelming. It had brisket, queso, salsa, queso, and some really good chips. I killed it. The ribs were also really good. An order was 3 ribs and they had a lots of tender meat on the bone and delicious flavor. It was a special for the night but I recommend it if they have it. I love that their menu had a wide variety but a lot of the items are fusion and can't be found anywhere else. For instance, they had smoked pork & kimchi eggrolls, smoked banh mi (vietnamese sandwich), and pho-strami sando. It's BBQ with a twist. But do keep in mind they do not do sliced meats or meats by the pound. Their service was good but very slow. It took them awhile to take our order, food to come, and forever to pay. We even went up to pay but they kept ignoring. Their pricing is good for what it is and portions were a good size. They offer happy hour Wednesday to Saturday from 5-9pm. I would come back and try their other items. I recommend it if you're open to BBQ with an Asian twist.

I've come across a few IG videos of Blood Bros., so when my Fourth of July date wanted BBQ, I knew we had to visit their restaurant. It was even featured on The Michelin Guide list, which made it an even more enticing choice. As I approached the entrance, I was impressed by the spacious and functional outdoor dining area that had ceilings fans and tvs around. As I entered the store and made my way to the counter, I was warmly greeted by friendly staff members. One of them was a meat carver, while the other was responsible for taking your side orders. Then right around the corner, the cashier took our drink orders and rang us up. Service was swift and prompt. We ordered: Beef Rib - Minimum order is 1lb ($44.25/lb). My date declared this dish the best out of everything that we ordered, praising it was moist and tender and gave it a 5/5 rating. Brisket - My date said the briskets had a big layer of fat yet the meat was lean and not very tender and would rate it 3/5. Potato Salad - Usually this is my favorite side but I was not a fan of Blood Bros'. Although it did have some contrasting textures to it, I thought the potato salad was more on the dry side and the dense potatoes made it unenjoyable. It was also too sweet for my liking. I would rate it 3/5. Cucumber Salad - The vibrant contrasting colors of green and red makes it look pretty but the taste is very bland and it had very little crunch to it. I would give this side a solid 1/5. Pimento Cheese and Firecrackers - This is the worst Pimento Cheese dip/spread I've had and the crackers were extremely salty. The cheese had a slight chemical aftertaste and an odd texture to it. I do not recommend ordering this dish and would give it a 1/5. The four slices of white bread that came with the meal were dry and more on the firm side despite being wrapped in clear plastic wrap. Note: There's a 3% surcharge added to all credit card payments.
