While driving through the Bronx, I decided to make a quick stop at Tommy's Pizza to grab a quick slice before I jumped on the Throgs Neck Bridge. I first heard about Tommy's from Dave Portnoy from Barstool Sports and Lorenzo (special guest on the show) who both highly ranked the pizza. Dave and Lorenzo were both right; the pizza is very good. The sauce is a bit bland, but the corn meal crust and cheese lifted the pizza in my opinion. Now to the service itself...I do agree with all the Yelpers who complained about the unfriendly staff. On my visit, the staff were not even wearing masks (this review was written during the pandemic). Would I return to Tommy's Pizza in the future? If I lived in the area, I'd probably make frequent visits to this place to grab a quick slice. There are other pizza joints in the city that have comparable slices so there is nothing truly unique about this place. If I'm driving across the Throgs Neck Bridge, I'll stop by if I'm craving a slice of pizza. read more

So let me start by saying the pizza is AMAZING!! Unfortunately, the staff they have working there is TERRIBLE! I don't know where people are raised to think it's ok to speak about grabbing their dog by the neck and flinging him across the room, let alone speak about it in front of customers, but I must say it's quite disturbing and disgusting. I tried ordering pizza over the phone for pickup on Super Bowl Sunday and had problems with the cashier lady again. I had forgotten the issues with the cashier lady over the holidays and highly recommended this place to friends since I preferred the pizza over other places I've been to on Tremont St. and regret it. You can totally miss this place while driving by but we decided to check it out based on this Bar Stool Sports review we watched. Wish the slice was a bit bigger, it's def at least 5 inches tall. The crust is definitely not too thin and not too thick, in my opinion perfect bite. The cheese and sauce are so delicious, the perfect sauce compliments it. Oil was not too bad either. Didn't feel the need to change my napkin for a new one! One thing I would say is the staff has this attitude about them. Sort of snobby and thinks they're better than you. In town to visit SUNY Maritime and heard we had to try Tommy's. It didn't disappoint!! My husband and kids LOVED the chicken parm rolls -- one is a single meal itself. A simple pepperoni pie + the chicken parm rolls were the perfect baseball game lunch! The 2 gentleman in the store were delightful and accommodating. Always looking for the perfect slice, and was in the area on business, so I decided to stop in at Tommy's. I read previous reviews and was expecting a great slice, the problem the slice was fair. Very thin, not much flavor, and not special in any way. The service and workers there were great though, fun and attentive. Good pizza. I typically like a reheated slice, but here I prefer ordering a pie. Tommy is funny. My wife and I were getting into our normal banter while eating and Tommy was making the pizzas directly across from where we were sitting (but also listening to us because he was kinda laughing at my wife who refused to share her pizza with me). This was a really delicious slice. I had a pepperoni one and one with mushrooms and onions. The mushrooms were canned, but they were very tasty. By the way, the slices with toppings are not just sitting out on display; no, they are prepared to order, so unless you're getting a plain slice, expect to wait a little while to get those toppings heated up. Great shop with counter seating, some table seating in the back and great prices. Tommy is on site, working on pies, too, and he seems to care about customer feedback which is also very nice. Flashback Slice The Bronx is easily the most difficult borough to find good pizza in, but Tommy's gives me hope. On the paper menu, clearly cut in half (not well) by Tommy himself on his home computer, they offer literally THREE things: pizza, calzones (including hippy rolls ), and beef patties. That's it. If it's your first time, the pricing may be unclear to you, with listings for "pizza pie", pizza "with toppings", and "COMBO". I have no clue what COMBO means. The question of quality for the slice, however, is not ambiguous. It's a slice of decade's past, with a crunchy semolina crust consistently patronized by locals. This great meld of cheese and sauce and grease is hard to beat. It's a New York slice that is impossible to find in New York nowadays - it's awesome. In the dining area, there are about 6 bar stools and a counter, along with a window to the outside to potentially order from. There's a back room with 4 tables, but its use is highly suspect. Everyone either stays at the barstools or gets it to-go. And you should be aware that there's another pizzeria across the street (that's not on this app). Amazing pizza. I am here every single week with a friend and our girls after their dance class next door. We even stop by just because we just want pizza. I am extremely picky about my pizza and literally will only get it from about 3 places. Always fresh, crust always crisp, cheese stretches, and the sausage....yum. And the staff....awesome. I got a pepperoni and bacon slice and it tasted pretty good and i liked the sauce, sauce can make or break and Italian dish. I wish they offered more things beside pizza and calzones but that is all. Tommy's is by far the best spot for slices in the Bronx. The crust is crispy with a nice texture, the sauce is great, and there is the perfect amount of cheese. Kind of reminds me of Sal's in Mamaroneck but with a crunchier crust. To top it all off, the pizzas are always fresh there and a slice doesn't even cost $2.50! read more

Been going to Tommy's pizza for many years now, they consistently have one of the best tasting old school NYC original pizzas. Great sauce, cheese and crust... Dave Portnoy of Barstool Sports has rated Tommy's very highly for good reason. They are open late even during COVID and they deliver. The prices are very reasonable in today's world. If I could put 0 zero stars and still leave a comment, I would. I called at 12:18am to place an order for pick up and was told that they were closing in 10 minutes. The website clearly states closing at 1am. The order was not even going to be for delivery, I was going to pick it up. A large plain pie, you didn't even have to add toppings. If you close in 10 minutes, don't answer the phone? Now I'm going to sleep on an empty stomach, no carbs to carry me through the night. read more
