Went to Tommy's for a pick up order several months back. I have been a customer of Tommys for 40 +years but I haven't returned since. I ordered an extra cheese pepperoni pizza and received an extra sauce lite cheese pizza instead (Not the first time my pick up order has been wrong). I even said to the girl on the phone to please make sure my order is correct. I get home and needless to say I'm not happy. I called and spoke to Tommy himself..he said I know what happened and you ended up with the extra sauce pizza instead. Sorry, do you want to return it? I said no I wasn't driving back from East Greenwich to Cranston. I asked for a credit. He said sure I will attach it to your number. Fast forward a week later and I order a pizza to pick up and I said I have a credit for a pizza and she's checks my account and it's a credit for $4 !!??? What the heck is that all about. Well Tommy gave me a $4 credit for the flipping cheese I didn't get!!! Can you imagine that..40 + yrs of being a loyal customer and HE admits to the mistake and he can't even replace my pizza!!! The food at Tommy's Pizza is delicious. Whether you go for lunch or dinner, the food is always abundant,fresh,and well made. Our golf group goes to Tommy's often for lunch. The wait staff are always courteous and attentive. It's always nice when Tommy is there to greet us! He takes great pride in what he does,and always asks if everything is ok. Tonight I had the linguini and clams. It was fresh,with just the right spices,and plentiful. Everything served at Tommy's is fresh and made to order. I highly recommend this great restaurant! My family and I have been enjoying food from Tommy's for about 15 years! i would have given it a 5-Star rating, but my last experience with a take-out "Monster" was dreadful; there were a couple of olives and a couple slices of pepperoni in it, and almost no detectable cheese. When I called the restaurant, I was told that "Tommy" would call me back, but he never did. How much can they care about their customers??? I'm back again to report that Tommy's is just as good as ever, and I'm giving them another deserved star to make up for all of the grumpy, taste-bud disabled one-star reviewers! Seriously, what is wrong with you guys? About every other month, a group of my former co-workers gather here for dinner since it's in the middle of the state and a fair distance for everyone to drive. We all love it and keep coming back. This time we ordered a caprese salad, a veggie pizza, a meatball and olive pizza, a pepperoni and olive pizza, and a hawaiian pizza. Everything was fresh and exceptional. We especially love those little pepperonis! Yet again, the service was friendly and super accommodating. In the middle of a busy Friday night they were able to put together a table for 10 of us and our server was so nice. We always manage to have someone that can laugh with us. This time, the owner even came over to say hello and make sure everything was a-ok. Also, their turtle cheesecake is to die for! read more

Takeout Order: ~Spinach Pie w/cheese & pepperoni ~Large Italian Grinder heated. The Spinach pie was very good as usual, it was hot, crispy in all the right places & tasty. The Italian Grinder? Not even close. It was bland, near tasteless. It was weird. Soggy bread inside, wayyy too much oil. Wilted, old lettuce. After searching, we finally located a skinny, sagging slice of onion. (Singular) No pepperoni, hot ham(Capicola,) hot peppers or provolone! None of it?? But bologna WAS ADDED. Bologna?? Why? This is a mistake. But, It wasn't even the "issue" with this sand. It seemed like it was made by someone who just doesn't care. At all. It was so poorly made, the 2nd half and rest of first half was thrown into our kitchen trash. Unfortunately now Tommy's is on the "bad experience & it'll be awhile before we go back, list." One positive thing re: Italian grinder: The roll was actually quite good. We've gotten t/o here before for spinach pies and fish & chips. All was good so, I don't know what happened. I just know that sandwich should never have gone out like that. read more

Stay away from their salads. Literally paid $9 for a caesar salad that was 4 Romain lettuce leaves, 6 croutons, and no parmesan cheese. When it came, I literally laughed out loud because of how big of a joke it was. My coworker timed me to see how quick I could finish it (because it was so small) and it took me a total of 1 min and thirty five seconds. So disappointed! I grew up in Providence and Tommy's Pizza (on Chalkstone) was my favorite pizza place. I recently moved back to Rhode Island and spotted a "new" Tommy's Pizza in Cranston. I finally got the chance to go there last week and brought 2 of my friends. I spent the whole car ride telling them about how delicious the food was, how big the portions were, how great the prices are... and then reality hit. The pizza was just plain bad. The sauce was watery and the crust was flavorless. It tasted a lot like a frozen pizza. I ordered some baked macaroni (my favorite dish from Tommy's) and was shocked when the $12 "plate" of dried out, flavorless ziti arrived. It was an amazingly small portion and there was next to no ricotta on it. The waitress was never at our table. She was zipping around the restaurant like she was crazy busy but she only had 4 tables. She was short with us and never even attempted to be friendly. The hostess was no better. read more

I like this - a good start. Window seat, menus dropped off and very pleasant 'your server will be with you in just a minute.' Karen, our server, couldn't have been better. Another friendly smile and very attentive service. Got down to ordering a Green Monster Calzone - stuffed with spinach, cheese, pepperoni and black olives for $4.29. Bread was perfect. Nicely toasted crust, and hot and soft on the inside. Olives mixed with the spinach and cheese were great. Mix in some pepperoni and you have yourself something special. Well worth the $4. This thing is pretty big. Order of Gnocci with red sauce $7.99 with a $1 side of sausage. This was good. Nothing to really take away, or add, to this dish. Bottom Line: Good. Veal Parm Grinder - $7.29. Again, same story here. It was a veal parm grinder with cheese melted on top. Nothing to write home about, but good tasting and filling. Again, bottom line - good. Atmosphere at Tommy's is nice. They definitely put some effort into decorating the place. Very clean and everyone is friendly - including the chefs, who you can see through the kitchen cutout window. May stop back if I'm in the neighborhood, but probably won't go out of my way. A-OK. read more

So it appears to be very popular, so just take this with a grain of salt. First, the fish and chips were good. Nothing to write home about, but not bad. The chips were a bit on the flavorless side though. The pizza my daughter had was pretty good. The sauce was very different from what I am used to eating. I liked it, my wife did not. The daughter, who ordered it also liked it. We also ordered a broccoli and cheese pie. This was horrible. The filling was very sparse. It was simply folded over and not closed in. The crust was way over cooked. All in all, a huge waste of money and personally, they should be embarrassed. Second, the waitress was friendly, and like I said, it was busy. But that does not excuse the service that was delivered. We placed a drink order, then had the flag the waitress down 20 minutes later to reminder her. The food finally came out as the two tables next to us, that were seated after us, were paying their bills and leaving. Tommys in Cranston also owns Tommys on Chalkstone ave in Providence, the original one. I went to the one in Cranston and all I can say is what a joke, pizza is just ok, has gone down hill. But my biggest complaint is that I ordered a glass of wine and when it was brought to me there was less than 5oz in the glass and they charged me $8.91, and it wasn't even top shelf. What does the owner think, he's up on federal hill? Maybe he thinks he's right up with the old canteen or Andinos, come on your a pizza place, I purchased a bigger glass of wine for less money at Marchettis. Tommy's is definitely one of my favorite Italian restaurants in RI. Everything on their menu is amazing! As someone who is extremely picky with pasta sauce I can honestly tell you their's does not disappoint especially on their pizzas. In addition to pizza, my favorite dish has to be the Cod Volcano. A spicy fish dish served over whichever type of pasta you like... YUM. While the menu is pretty standard, they have specials that change daily which makes trying something new very easy. Prices are fairly standard for an authentic Italian and their great staff makes for the perfect dining experience. read more

Local, homemade goodness with a smile! We have YET to have a bad experience at Tommy's! We are greeted by our name, our kid's are treated like gold, their favorite meals are remembered, and the prices are reasonable for the food that has the 'just like mom makes' feeling. You'd be hard pressed to find another local restaurant sponsoring more youth teams in the area, as well - seriously. If you're looking for a good meal, where families are welcomed, at a good price, without a chain-restaurant feel, you will NOT be disappointed! But don't hesitate - your seat could be taken by us! We order from Tommy's at least twice a month. The food is consistent, the pizza is fabulous and the drivers are superb. When we do go in, it's just as good. No complaints here... Yes, they get busy and sometimes it's slow. Try going to your favorite restaurant on a Friday night at 7pm... if the food comes out within 5-10 minutes, clearly they are not very busy. Good food takes time and is worth waiting for. If you have had a bad experience, then it's understandable to share it. But, to all of the people leaving unjustified bad comments....If you can't shut your pie-hole, at least fill it with Tommy's pizza! :) read more

The pizza is fabulous a Tommy's. With a plethora of topping choices you can create just about anything you want. What I like it that the crust doesn't get droopy. It's crispy even with lots of toppings. The owner is on premises most of the time. He really seems to care about the quality and experience. My only complaints are environmental. . . I tend to get the chicken parmesan with Ziti. They serve each separately. Its a pain in the butt because the tables are small. If you have four people who ordered mixed dishes (ie:chicken and vegtables or ziti) you end up with 10 dishes for 4 people and no room to breathe. My last peeve is the room temperature. Its horribly regulated. In the summer-it's sweltering, and the winter freezing. read more

We have been here now three times. Every time the food has been outstanding. Our first visit the service was a bit off but both times since we have had no complaints. They get their bread from a local bakery and it is really good. Chicken parm was excellent. Meatballs and Spag also good stuff. I tried two appetizer specials on our most recent visit. A meatball on a bed of fresh mozzarella which gets all melty good and a dish of fresh mozzarella wrapped in prosciutto pan seared served over tomato drizzled in a balsamic glaze. Both of these dishes were incredible. Wish you could get a small side salad with an entree. They only serve larger meal sized salads. Nice atmosphere, warm and cozy. I got an extra large half cheese half pepperoni and I didn't know you could get that much grease on the top of a pizza. The bottom was super soggy in the cross did not have a good taste. Awful Italian grinder and awful response when called to let them know that the Italian grinder I just ordered had 1 slice of salami, one slice of ham and one slice of cheese on a small sandwich. Basically I was eating just a roll. I thought it had to be a mistake so I just wanted to call and let them know what I received (Not looking for any $$$ back). The response I received on the phone was that the Italian only comes with 1 slice of cheese, 1 slice of salami and 1 slice of cheese all the time. She said you have to order a super Italian which has double the meat. All she could say was I'm sorry but that's why people order a super Italian??? When I ordered no one asked if I would prefer the super Italian. I don't like Subway at all but at least there you get actual cold cuts in your grinder. read more

The Chicken Piccata was tender and jucy. My Seafood Casserole was subpar at best. The beer wasnt even cold goes to show you their effort to details which doesnt take much skill. We found this place when stuck in traffic because of an accident on rt 295. My recommendation is stick to the Staple Italian dishes like pizza (pies) or meatballs and pasta or a salad.
