Despite being extremely loud and busy on this Saturday morning, the service at Tommy's was prompt, courteous, and attentive. The food was delicious. The country fried chicken breakfast with white gravy was delectable. I ordered sautéed mushrooms on the side and dumped them on the gravy which added a delightful touch. Be prepared to wait a little while: we arrived to find a long line out the door, but even then despite the crowd of people, they still managed to get us in within around 15 minutes. They only accept cash or check but an ATM is located in the entryway for convenience. Update: food is always solid, but since coming I notice that they give VIP treatment to some regular customers. Came here on a Friday morning and my family was next in line, a man in a suit and his female companion cut the long line went to one of the ladies in charge and was promptly seated with half a dozen other patrons waiting patiently. And no they don't accept reservations so needless to say I wasn't too happy about this, especially with a rowdy 4-year old complaining that she's hungry. The waitstaff know the regulars by name, they are attentive and quick, and most of all, the food is DELICIOUS! Came here for the first time on Monday. Absolutely love it here! Everyone was so nice and this is exactly the place I've been looking for. A nice diner place and very kind atmosphere. I got the tommy combination for breakfast and man, it was only I believe $10 and so much food, and don't get my started on the pancakes, it's like heaven in my mouth. Only thing I recommend is not coming here on the weekends. My portions where a lot smaller than usual and my boyfriend order a breakfast burger and they didn't even give him the egg that makes it a breakfast burger. read more

This place was not what I expected from the reviews. It's a high volume, poor food quality place. I ordered the catfish and shrimp meal with black eye peas and sliced tomatoes as a side. The shrimp was pretty good but the fish was not fried long enough and the breading fell off the fish when trying to eat it. The black eye peas were not cooked long enough to make that good black eye peas gravy. The tomatoes were over ripe, really soft and squishy. Oh and you are always in the way... If your sitting down or standing up. The atmosphere of the place seemed dirty and muggy and really loud. I went here for the rating but it was a bad choice. read more

Today I went into Tommy's restaurant and it had an odor like a dingy diner. Tommy's always full because the food is good. However, today, the biscuits were not fresh at all or they need to do a complete new recipe. They looked old and were rubbery at the bottom. I made sure to pull off them so they couldn't be served again. The table and chairs felt like the traces of different people's body oils. The place looks like it all needs white washing. It's already dimly lit, full of human bodies, it's grimy inside. The food is good so people get comfortable. Please clean this place. read more

People always want to hit up chain spots so I always suggest a local spot...business meetings or casual. Today, I pushed we go local. I ordered Tommy's Breakfast Combo thanks to Rory J's review. For $5.50 I was in a food coma before 9am. Eggs, sausage patties, hash browns, pancakes and biscuits/toasts on the side. Fat kid tried to finish his meal but I couldn't afford a nap in the car so early in the day! We were in at 8:30 and out by 10:15. Most of the time spent there was talking. Their service was impeccable. Food was literally out in five minutes. As many people as they had in the house most of this stuff is already made. Even after we were done eating it was literally every two minutes we were asked about refills on our coffee and water. It can be annoying to some but we all often complain about poor service. Every server in the house that walked by offered assistance. You really can't go wrong with that. By the time we left there was a line waiting out the door. With good food, large portions, quick service and a very friendly and ATTENTIVE staff it's no wonder people line up to visit this place. Cash rules everything around me. Well, not really. Do yourself a favor and place a to go order if being packed like sardines isn't your thing (doesn't bother me because the food, the price and the service make up for it). So on to the food. Let's see how can I describe it...It's good COMFORT food. Steak and eggs, omelets, grits, salmon cakes, sausage patties, scrapple all YUMMY. The only thing that I've had on the lunch menu is the catfish and it was GOOD. I'm a breakfast girl so I usually stick to the breakfast side of the menu. Well we waited and they had NONE of the above. 40 minutes later after ordering our food they brought one plate another five minutes another plate. Ten minutes later another. Our waitress never came to offer extra butter, steak sauce napkins , nothing. The hamburger steak over cooked charred on bottom with no seasoning. Fried flounder tossed in flour flavorless. over cooked scallops. Eggs were ordered OVER medium. The white was runny and gross. French fries under done twice cooked dripping in grease. Great location, selection of foods and prices are low, low, low. You can get yourself a hot meal for less than $5 a person. Amazing! This place is so popular that during their busiest times, Saturday/Sunday mornings, the lines are out the door. But no worry, the service is so fast, that you wouldnt remember you were standing in line at all. There are many regular customers and these folks can strike up a conversation. Fun times! Awful experience! Don't believe the hype. The line was in the parking lot "as always"; the dining experience leaves much to be desired, as there's no room in between tables. No type air for private intimate conversations without the neighbors next door hearing every word and chiming in; The wait staff can be more attentive to the customers tables instead of rushing to seat the next group; They did not have enough eating utensils (forks, knives, spoons) as the dishwasher staff were overloading the overworked and overhauled dishwasher. All in all-this was my first experience at Tommy's Restaurant and it will be my last. Tommy's is a great place for some good but cheap breakfast. Expect to wait because the anticipation of being seated and indulging in some great food becomes part of the experience of dining at Tommy's. You get a nice portion of food and you should never leave Tommy's feeling like you did not have enough to eat. I have only been to Tommy's on Sundays so I am not sure how busy it is the rest of the week. It is extremely busy on Sundays and the staff is super friendly and the food is always fresh and made to order, if necessary. I have ordered a variety of items over time and I have never been disappointed.
