This place is an utter disaster. It is amazing that they still are in business. The food is overpriced garbage and the service is horrible. They had the nerve to card a late 50s member of our party. When we explained that he left it in the car he did not care. At that point we decided that there was no reason to stay. This place has always been marginal at best. It is going down hill. We wanted a sports bar and saw they had a rooftop deck so we went. Multiple tv's with various games. The wings, apple salad, and homemade kettle chips were all delicious! If we weren't leaving town today, I would have gone back for the same meal! read more

Took my daughter and friends for her 13th bday and they all loved it!.. our server Shane ?... was awesome.. perfect mix of not being obtrusive but was always there when we needed something.. I totally suggest for anyone to try to go here on a Sunday early afternoon:. It was quiet and we enjoyed our time without being packed with crowds.. we tried it out on a Friday night around 5:30 to see if we could try some dishes to pre plan but we couldn't even get in.. it was a 45 minute wait .. if you plan things right you can enjoy this place a lot .. also the cocktails are so delicious! read more

Our food was okay. I ordered a poke bowl that tasted like I bought it at a local super market. My fault for ordering this type of food at a place like this. Wife ordered a burger that was okay, not a wow factor. On the other hand, the kids ate all of their food so that was a plus. The sever seemed to be learning the menu, which is okay. It is loud and dark in the restaurant. It would be a good spot to watch games since there are many tvs around the place. Would I come back? Probably not. The food didn't have a wow/good factor. This place is great but if they can screw you they will. I was given no salad dressing so I had to ask for some. I went upstairs left my dressing by my purse and some worker decided to throw it up while I went to the restroom. I told the workers and no could help me. So now I paid over $20 for a salad with no dressing - absolute non sense. So come here have fun but watch your stuff because no one is helpful or understanding at all. read more

The ambiance is cool; the food was good, but the service at the bar SUCKED! Sat at the bar no more than 4 feet from the bartender with an attitude stood making drinks for 10-12 minutes without even acknowledging our presence. 2 other bartenders moved around and at times were standing there talking to each other, but again no one even said anything. Finally, one of the other bartenders makes it to apologizes for the long wait, and brings menus.after sitting there for a long time without menus, I had read the couple of smaller standing signs several times, and asked about their Monday special on cocktails. I asked for a classic old fashioned and the bartender that's been standing next to us, without saying a word, now is mister awareness and says we don't have the liquor (Elijah Craig) to make that.... I look at the small bar sign again and they have a "toasted" old fashioned (Basil Haden Oak) and he again says we don't have that either. I jokingly say "you've got to be kidding me.....what do you have to make an old fashioned, to which he says anything else will not be on special and will be full price. I decided to press my luck and test my logic..... so, I said you have another cocktail with Makers Mark, at the same price as the old fashioned, can you just take that bourbon and make it into an old fashioned? "NOPE". Then I said, I see a bottle of Basil Hayden from here! He says, "but that's regular, not toasted".... I'm thinking.....Are you shitting me now? The food is normally good, and the service is hit or miss. The issue I have is when you pay cash and they do not give you the correct change. I know this is not an issue just with the restaurant since I have experienced the same issue at other establishments. I recently had dinner here and the bill was $60 and change. I gave them a $100 bill and the loose coin change, so they did not have to round my bill up. When the waiter returned with my change, he apologized for taking so long that it was hard getting someone to make the change. When I counted my change, the bill had been rounded up even though I had given them the coins so that would not be necessary. Instead of calling the waiter over I used the policy that I have adopted in this situation. I reduced the tip by more than double the amount that was taken from me. I understand that the service industry is hard work, but I am not sure who started this policy of rounding up the waiters or the owners. I have yet to be in a restaurant where they round the bill down if it is below half a dollar. If my bill was $50.49 I am sure leaving a $50 on the table would not be tolerated by the owners or wait staff. Hopefully if enough people who still pay by cash adopt this policy, then maybe the restaurants will stop stealing our money because that is exactly what they are doing. read more

This was my first time coming here and I had an incredibly wonderful experience. The wait was 45 min. but well worth the wait. I had the taquitos for appetizer and my husband and I shared a pizza and buttermilk chicken sandwich. All was hot, flavorful, well presented and delicious! I could not ask for better food. The wait staff was friendly and helped each other other out. Managers were on the floor making sure things were running smoothly which it was. It definitely was running like clockwork. My waitress Chelsea made sure we needed for nothing. She knew what we needed before we did. Overall perfect experience. We will definitely be coming back! Highly recommend! read more

This was my second visit to a Tommy's Tavern +Tap location. I went to the one in Princeton and really enjoyed the food. We were in the Edison area and decided to try this location. We ordered several of the small plate items which were delivered to the table relatively quickly. The serving portions were large enough for several people and were delicious. Our wait staff was very friendly and efficient. However when our bill came it included a 3% surcharge if we paid with a credit card. Is this something restaurants are doing now? Passing on their credit card fees to their customers? Isn't this the cost of doing business? We paid the surcharge and left a slightly smaller tip (17%). Apologies to the wait staff, hope your management team will make up the difference from the surcharge they charged to my bill read more

This restaurant was packed on a Saturday night and the vibe was great! Luckily we got seats at the bar so didn't have to wait for a table. Highly recommend the toquitos app they're huge and delicious!! The burgers are a pretty thick patty too and very juicy! read more

I honestly want to do a split review. for food service at the table. ALL the food was amazing, service was exceptional. Shout out to Justin, a true Tommy's Tavern asset! Wish we ate second. Unfortunately our night ended at the bar where the bartenders (Angelica and Denise to name 2) couldn't care less if we were there or not. Busy serving High Noons to the drunken 20 something-year-olds behind us, yet we waited, and waited and waited. They literally walked by, looking at empty glasses then no glasses after they were bused. One incredibly sweet bartender (braided pigtails) tried in vain to pick up the slack, it just wasn't enough. Please have a talk with bar service, I truly hope it makes a difference because we'd love to return. It's your grown customers that don't cause trouble and really keep a business afloat. read more

Ambiance is nice, its like an up scale Brick House. I came here with my girls on a monday night, bartender named Mehgan yelled at us to take out our IDs twice, she was sociable with all other customers but she made us feel like we were a burden. She didnt even give us menus nor did she tell us when it was last call another bartender had to. She has a very nasty attitude. The house shots tasted like vinegar and the nachos were nasty. Maybe it was a bad night but Mehgan should be kind to ALL types of people (if you know what i mean). First and last time, thank you. read more

Let's start with the good. I sat at the bar for an early lunch (11:30'ish) and had my pick of seats since the place was essentially empty. The bartender greeted me, made me feel at home, and walked me through the menu, which is huge. Off to a good start, right? Now onto where it gets a smidge rough: It's freezing in there. Like legit cold. Not "I'm old and wear a sweater in summertime" cold. I mean full-on cold. Cold enough that the bar counter is noticeably chilled to the touch. Meh, I'll manage. I can be cold for a half hour in exchange for an epic burger. I ordered the bacon swiss burger with fries and a Diet Coke. The Diet Coke came back with the syrup mix so thin you could see through the glass to the other side. I mentioned it to my bartender and she indicated I should taste it and "let her know." I blinked at her debating whether to ask her specifically to replace it, but decided I'll deal with it. Ok fine. I'll be cold while drinking flavored water in exchange for a burger which now has a lot of pressure on it. The burger came on a brioche bun which seemed like it was a few days out of the bag it came in. The burger was juicy, I'll say that much. But the amenities were poor. The bacon overly fatty, the sauce was thin and might have wrecked my dress shirt had I not eaten the burger like I was leaning forward at a drinking fountain. Fries were ok but were cold immediately given the ambient. I don't know, guys. I get the sense this place finds its stride as a bar, not a lunch place. They have a ton on tap and the beer/wine menu was extensive. Big place with lots of seating, so they obviously are doing something right. Just not a burger/Diet Coke at 11:30. So maybe I need to consider this a "purely after work" meetup kinda place. Because honestly -- the food is just ok -- and I'm being generous. Best thing about this place? Top Golf next door. Great food and an overall great experience. I have tried to eat at Tommy's location in Sea Bright but have not been able to get a table with a long wait. I was so excited to see that a Tommy's was opening in my area. I loved the vibe and overall design of the place. It looked like a place you could have a few drinks with friends. Definitely excited to eat on the rooftop when the weather is better. There was a huge menu so it was hard to choose what I wanted. I got a cocktail which was very good. For my meal I got the grilled chicken sandwich with fries which was very good. We also got the hot pretzel as an appetizer which was absolutely great, it was huge and came out hot. The waiter we had was attentive and sweet despite the fact that it was a very busy Monday. Overall a great place that I will absolutely be back to. read more
