Generous portions and flavorful, quality food. We liked every dish we tried, which included rolls, nigiri, sashimi, ramen, and karaage. Friendly, fast service and kid friendly (has kid chopsticks and comfy seating for kiddos). We'll definitely return soon.

I had a blast in that cozy place! The food was delicious, and the service was top-notch.

Went back a 2nd time to try the sushi, and it did not disappoint, shared a bowl and roll with my wife lol. It's fun but a lot of food probably won't be that again but still go get one and get something else another time. Had the peach tea again it's worth the 7$ and the food was made fast and well. Everyone was happy and the place was clean 10/10 again

Hands down the best teriyaki in Portland. I always went for the ramen but today was craving teriyaki and ya'll!!! This place does not disappoint. It was so incredible and so much flavor and variety. Yum!

UGH!! They played loud rap music in the background that left me with a headache for the rest of the day. It was annoying and didn't really suit the atmosphere of the restaurant. We ordered the food from a kiosk that was right in front of the door, so if someone was trying to get in, they'd have to wait for the people using the kiosk to move. That layout was strange. The food portion was generous and filling! We ordered the karaage don ($16.60), tonkotsu miso ramen ($17.50), and spicy seafood ramen ($20) and we feel like the karaage don was the best out of everything. The chicken was juicy and I loved the sauces that it came on the side. My family felt like the ramen was average, even a little bland. It did come with a lot of toppings though, which was great. The service was also a bit slow and it was borderline agonizing having to listen to the loud rap music playing in the background while we waited for the food to arrive. I'd recommend trying this place for the food, not to experience the ambiance.

AMAZING authentic ramen. Great 80s music. Love this place. Totally worth the price. Would go back 100 times. And I'm pretty picky!

Thank you! I'm so happy that i found this restaurant. The meal and service were excellent. I well tell all my family and friends. It was super delicious!

I grew up in this neighborhood and it's great to comeback to some amazing food! This was my first time eating here and I give it 5 stars. The atmosphere was great, the service was excellent, and the staff was amazing! The food was excellent on top of everything. Fresh ingredients, big portions, and it all came out very quickly. Will be coming here again, thanks for the amazing food today.

I got the tonkotsu ramen and it was alright. The broth was ok, the meat was pretty good, but I think there was a bit too much of the other toppings. Service was pretty good, everything came out quick.

Love this spot. One of my faves. Great food and Japanese beer on tap. Sake flights. What more can you ask for.

So many records store have the records jampacked and it's incredibly time-consuming to go through to find what you're looking for or just browsing is a pain. That is not the case here as you will see by my pictures! There are so many records to choose from and they are constantly adding to their inventory. Today they have six beers on tap, one cider and they offer wine by the glass. I also have a case where you can pick up beard to go or drink it in house for a small corkage fee. I had a nice chat with the owners and look forward to chatting with them again soon. I wish The Record Pub an abundance of success and plan on stopping after work to have a refreshing drink!

The atmosphere here is just different in the best way possible. Hip, modern, relaxed, and right next to the river with nice outdoor seating to soak up some sunshine. Lots of great beers and ciders from all over the Pacific Northwest. I really appreciate that they support smaller breweries and real people instead of only big corporate brands. The Muddy Rudder can hold it's head high in this arena. The interior has a great feel as an impressive log tabletop stretches out before you when one first enters. The bar is a nice, old wooden bar with the establishment giving a very warm embrace with it's rustic decor and charm. They have outside seating, both street side and in a side patio. As for the beer selection, they do a very good job curating. For example, until recently, one could almost count on there being an import beer on tap. They also do a good job of having a wide variety of styles, they have one on pull tap (if you are unfamiliar, give it a try - you will be glad you did) and they are constantly rotating with truly local brews. They also have a chalkboard which lists all the brews, their ABV and frequently the IBUs. There are 16 rotating taps. Kudos to the person running this part of the operation. As for the food, I have never been disappointed and I have eaten here frequently. I am a sucker for their strombolis. In NY, strombolis were a go-to meal at a pizzeria, but they are few and far between in the PNW. Not only does The Muddy Rudder have strombolis, they also make them in the true stromboli tradition. Do note that the pizza dough here is as close to NY as I have found in Portland, which obviously means try the pizza as well - it is very good. They then offer other food options which have also always only pleased. Do give this spot a visit - you will not be disappointed.

Growing up, I spent a fair amount of time around fire stations…read more My Dad was a firefighter. As a kid, that meant climbing around the trucks, knowing the difference between a fire truck and a fire engine, screwing around in the long-gone handball court down at Station 1, and thinking firefighters were basically superheroes. Strong. Brave. Fearless. And sporting absolutely bad ass mustaches. (For those of you who don't know, a fire truck carries the ladders, and a fire engine carries the hose. Trust me, firefighters are very particular about the distinction. They're also surprisingly proud of hose size. Honestly, who doesn't want to ride in the vehicle with all the hose.) There was a period in American history where every firefighter looked like he was either fighting a five-alarm blaze or auditioning to be the next Dirk Diggler. Thick. Powerful. The kind of mustache that could put out a five-alarm blaze and still have enough left in the tank to offer free mustache rides to the neighborhood ladies. It was magnificent. So, when I heard pFriem was opening a brewery in Milwaukie's old firehouse, I knew I had to check it out. Not for the mustache rides, mind you. At this stage in life, I'm not offering them for free and I'm not looking to ride one. Not in this economy. The old firehouse has been transformed into an incredible space. Too many historic buildings get remodeled into something so generic that it could just as easily be a bank, the office for the city of Milwaukie, or a luxury apartment leasing center. Or they become a McMenamins. Not this place. The massive doors, high ceilings, and creative use of the firepole (without turning it into a strip club)...it still retains some of the charming characteristics of a firehouse. Just one where the emergency now involves deciding whether my liver can handle one more pint. And speaking of beer, pFriem is pFriem. Easily one of my top 5 favorite breweries. Plus, the food is excellent. Years ago, firefighters gathered here waiting for the next alarm. Later it became city offices, which is admittedly a less exciting use of a firehouse. Today, people gather here for great beer, good food, and conversation. Honestly, that's a pretty great third act for an old building. Five stars. Still no mustache rides, though.
