We are fixing up a vacant condo to sell, and there were a few plumbing issues that needed to be taken care of before we put it on the market. Tomo replaced an older toilet with a modern high efficiency model. This is a very small bathroom without a lot of room to maneuver, and the floor is tiled with large travertine tiles. Tomo got the job done without any damage to the tiles and without a gap between the toilet and the tile. He also fixed some issues with the water supply lines in the kitchen. We had a difficult problem which ended up to be something major, and required digging six feet down in our front yard to access the mail line, here in the east Chula Vista area. Tomo is definitely one of those guys that does what he needs to do to get the job done! I'm definitely glad that Yelp pulled through for me once again. My issue was that I thought I could swap out the shower cartridge myself and had bought all the necessary hardware to do so. I'm pretty handy at most DIY projects and this seemed like an easy one until I pulled the entire core of the cartridge out without the outer shell. At this point I'm pretty much SOL. Tomo came to my rescue with a simple box of magic tools to get the job done. The outer shell of the cartridge was bonded to the piping as the hard water lime built up through out the years. He worked his magic for about 15 minutes and I faintly hear a "YES!!!" Then it was all up and up from that point out. This guy knows exactly what he's doing and does it very well with a smile on top. I am very pleased with the work and will be a long time customer. Very professional, efficient, and has VERY competitive rates! I highly recommend him to anyone! Had a drain to be cleared. Scheduled with him for Saturday. On Saturday, he texted me and stated that he wouldn't be able to come over. Monday, he texted that he could see me at 4:45 p.m on Tuesday. Around 4 p.m. on Tuesday, he texted me that he couldn't come, and postponed for Wednesday. I then asked if I could get a discount for being patient with him. He replied, "Not really. I don't come down to south after 2 pm as a rule because I'm going to get caugh in traffic. My hours are 7-4, usually after 4:30, I charge overtime, and the drain would cost more. The Good: On time, did more listening than talking (no selling), quiet, professional, knowledgeable, and I was VERY pleased with the work. The good: Tomo is as good as it gets. I've been though a lot of plumbers in my 30 years in my old house. Tomo, I can recommend without reservations. On time, cheery, knowledgeable, competent, quick to respond no matter the hour and reasonably priced. What more could you ask? The bad: When you have a reputation like he has, everybody wants you and he is only one man so he can only do so much. There are only 24 hours in the day (Earth day that is). There are three solutions to this problem A) you can wait for him (not always possible eh?), II) he can, and does, recommend someone he trusts, when he's too busy and you just can't wait or 3) he can hire more staff but as anybody in business knows, your most valuable asset is your reputation and that's just too risky to hand to a new hire when you're too busy to monitor them, train them or repair their mess ups. I came home from work to find a completely clogged and backed up toilet. I groaned and prepared myself to pay after-hours prices for a plumber to come fix it late in the evening. I yelped for plumbers, and decided on Tomo's. He showed up within 20 minutes, was super helpful and friendly and diagnosed and fixed my toilet. I don't know about other prices out there, but it seemed pretty darn reasonable to me. I will definitely be calling him when my neighbors decide to flush action figures down the toilet again. INSTANT service, polite, expedient, and the problem was pretty much a no-brainer that I could fix myself...but he was able to identify the problem whereas I couldn't.. He didn't try to gouge me or convince me to give him the really simple job, has a very fair service call fee, and even gave me some good advice. DECISION MADE: I'll be hiring Tom to renovate the plumbing in my laundry room this winter. We have been turning to Tomo for all our plumbing issues, large and small since mid 2012. The fact that we still call him speaks to the level of confidence we have in his professionalism and his honesty. Early on we had a blocked drain and called him. He said he could fix it, but call these other guys who specialize in that, because they are faster and cheaper than me. That's doing what's best for the customer. He always has solutions for even tricky problems. Diagnosing what's wrong, and quickly finding a solution is one of his greatest strengths. And if the issue needs immediate attention, he's there. Tom was great! I work for a live theatre, and we needed someone to take care of a giant leak ASAP, since we had to shut off water to the whole building. He had a job coming up, but squeezed us in just for a quote. He was out to us in less than 1/2 hour, and he diagnosed things pretty quickly. He had to go his other appointment, but was back within an hour with the tools he needed for our job. He did great work while also juggling two separate clients, and I think that speaks pretty well for his work ethics. Tomo is a great plumber, is reasonably priced, and is honest. I have called him multiple times for help with plumbing issues at my mission valley condo. After a few issues with my garbage disposal I decided maybe it was best to buy and install a new one. Tomo went over to take a look and told me the disposal was fine, but the tenants were putting weird food down the sink which was causing the issues. He took the time to educate my tenants on what not to put down the sink, and told me I didn't need to install a new disposal. So apparently word has gotten out that Tomo is awesome.. I hired him for a couple jobs last year when we bought our house and I thought I had found our "go-to" plumber. He was professional, honest, reasonable, and efficient. He didn't nickel and dime for travel time either. What else could a customer ask for? Well... the last time I called Tomo for help a couple months ago he referred me to another plumber. I respect that he was super busy and it was an easy job so I was okay with it. I was hopeful he would still be my go-to guy for other projects. Then last week I called him to inquire about modifying our washer dryer hookups.. he did not answer his phone AND his voicemail was full so I couldn't leave a message. He didn't respond to a text message i tried to send either. Tomo needs to learn how to manage his increase in business or else he will lose his loyal customers. We were hoping to hire him on for a bathroom remodel but will have to look elsewhere. He is a good plumber but not turning out to be the best businessman. Bummer!
