We ordered the beef souvlaki and the homemade hash and eggs. The beef in the souvlaki was tender and plentiful. It was served on a generous portion of iceberg lettuce, one olive, one pepperoncini, and a warm pita. The eggs were cooked perfectly, but the corned beef was too finely minced. We stopped here on a whim, and it was such a charming family diner. I got a grilled chicken sandwich (which was delicious) and my partner got the fish fry (only available on Fridays), which came with two sides. Very tasty! And was our server, we ordered our usual\n And The ham was spoiled and burnt and my husband greek salad was rotten and as a good waitress , she took care of it , she was very consistent asking if we needed anything else she apologized , she was the best. Food was good, service was good, really no complaints. It was a pretty normal diner experience. Just wasn't blown away by the Greek breakfast, no tzatziki or Greek dressing offered, so that's why I didn't give 5 stars. They sent our sons meal out first, which helped us keep him occupied longer. Now don't call me Khan, I'm not Chaka And I'm not a souvlaki Backtracker But while this ain't my fave I admit, I do save A place in my heart for food at Plaka I'm thinking of giving a Plaque to Plaka to say they're one of many great Souvlaki diners in Buffalo. Because that's what you should get here - souvlaki. This is a lovely Greek restaurant in Kenmore with super friendly service and it's your typical Buffalo Diner in a lot of ways. The chicken souvaki tastes delicious and sauteed and perfect like Chicken Souvlaki should, and usually does in Buffalo, which is really the home of American Chicken Souvlaki and it tastes like one of the better ones in the city. I guess the main downside is that the portion is pretty small and definitely smaller than some of the places that I like to go - and far smaller than something like Apollo, so for that reason I almost didn't give them 5 - but it's still a very delicious Souvlaki and well worth trying. Buffalo diners are amazing. They're Greek and superior to diners elsewhere. Buffalo milkshakes are amazing too. Buffalo Chicken Souvlaki is really a star of the local cuisine. If you've read other reviews of mine, Buffalo does better Greek Diners and better Chicken Souvlaki than anywhere else in USA. Here, we marinade the chicken for days, and then it's extraordinarily juicy instead of dry on a stick. It's just a better taste and a juicier flavour. Hash browns on the side- very small portion! It's like the cook/owner is skimping on portions to save money hoping customers won't notice. Same thing with my friend's fries- a lousy small portion. They really nailed the late 1970s Soviet vibe. It's weird and welcoming at the same time. It smells like onion and meat outside and when you first walk in. I know that's an odd observation, but it's the same smell every time. Reminds me of Bubbe's house. Oddly comforting. The food is really good and pretty cheap. Solid, solid, solid. I love The Plaka. It's like stepping back in time. The food is amazingly consistent, tasty, and inexpensive. The service is quick. The ambiance is good. The menu at The Plaka is extensive and breakfast is served all day. Every item is a value and about 3/4 what you'd pay at any other Greek place in town. The green and brown decor and floral wallpaper make dining at The Plaka feel like stepping back in time to the 1970's. This is an iconic Village of Kenmore spot, as it's been in operation for pretty much forever. We stopped by recently to check out the old school eatery. It's a casual, seat-yourself situation inside, and we situated ourselves in one of the booths. The coffee was plentiful; we regularly got refills, which is one of my standards for a great diner experience. We got a couple breakfast plates, along with some fries and an open beef and chicken souvlaki. The fries were on point. The souvlaki was a solid rendition. The home fries were dried out, unfortunately, but the eggs were fluffy and toast well-buttered. The Belgian waffle was delicious. This is a nice spot to stop right in the heart of Kenmore. I came here on Monday morning with my family for a late breakfast/ early lunch. The service was friendly and quick. We all liked our meals. I had chicken fingers and french fries. The fries were those delicious crispy on the outside/mashed potato consistency on the inside type and I really enjoyed them. The other dishes at the table were breakfast platters and tuna melts. The only reason i'm taking a star off is because our waitress would not let my husband's 90 year old grandma order a breakfast off of the kids menu. This sweet women is no bigger than a small child and clearly was not even going to eat 1/4 of an adult breakfast platter. I thought it was pretty unbelievable they wouldn't let her! This was our first time coming to this very nice diner on Delaware Ave. Not sure what took me so long to come try this place out for breakfast which is served all day. I had a delicious meat lovers omelette, very fluffy and filled with meats and cheeses. They also give you tons of home-fries very crispy the way I like them. My date had the eggs Benedict, this was also excellent. We ordered a side of corn beef hash, we will skip that next time as it was underwhelming and not crispy enough. We went for lunch to Plaka. My wife and a friend shared a chicken quesadilla. I had a lunch special: soup and a sloppy Joe. The soup was a very nice cup of tomato soup, with nice little pieces of tomato and some mushrooms. The sloppy Joe was very nice with some nice parts of green pepper in it. I'm a big fan of these old fashioned Greek diners..... and "The Plaka" did not disappoint. The setting is like something straight out of the 70's (in a good way), the menu is quite complete, the prices are fair, the portions are ample, and everything tastes good. I had an Open Garden Souvlaki and an order of home-fries (NOTHING beats home-fries in a Greek diner!) and my boyfriend had a turkey club and an order of onion rings. He also had a Pepsi that was consistently refilled, without him having to ask, and at no extra charge. My Souvlaki was fresh and flavorful with WONDERFUL house-made Greek dressing..... The potatoes were the perfect balance of crisp and tender.... The onion rings were tasty..... And, each quarter of the turkey club needed to be held onto with two hands in order to keep the abundant, fresh, and delicious fillings from falling out. A great lunchtime experience! read more

I feel like this restaurant is very underrated. We have seen it a million times and decided to randomly try it. We were not disappointed. I got a spinach, tomato, and feta omelet. It was delicious and all of the vegetables tasted fresh. My son got the kids pancakes which were in the shape of a Mickey Mouse and had a sausage that came with it. I tried the sausage and it was delicious. It was crispy and flavorful. My boyfriend got pancakes, eggs, and sausage. He thought the eggs were a little runny (I thought they seemed perfect for sunny side up). He's very picky about breakfast meat and he loved the sausage too. The waitress was friendly and came to check on us often. She offered to refill our coffee before we had even finished half of our cup! I love this restaurant! The service is always great. The food is always fantastic and reasonable for a family restaurant. I have been going there over the years for special occasions. There is an older woman, either the manager or owner who stops by the table near to end of the meal to ask how it was. I have been able to use my e-cig in there with my coffee at the end of my meal and no one says anything. They are fast with coffee and drink refills. They aren't in a hurry if you want a leisurely dinner but they don't ignore you if you are trying to get the check. It is spotlessly clean. It is in the same block- never sure if it was the same place or part of the same place- but reminds me of Watson's I went to Sundays as a child. I have a love-hate relationship with The Plaka. As a Kenmore native, i have been here more times that I can count. It's a go-to place for my family and I for breakfast and occasionally dinner. If you call ahead with a large party, they can accommodate you in their back room. The Plaka's prices are extremely good. You get a good amount of food for a low price. Their breakfast food is excellent and it is always served quickly, no matter how busy it is. I am a huge fan of the chocolate chip pancakes and their home fries. Their coffee is pretty nasty but it can be covered up with a bunch of cream and sugar. The coffee is free refills and the servers keep pouring even if you don't ask. Overall the Plaka is a good place for a quick and affordable breakfast. Their lunch and dinner options are different however. All their main courses taste extremely msalty and full of sodium. The last time I went to dinner, I ordered chicken fingers and fries, which is pretty hard to mess up (I should know. I make them and I'm not the best cook in the world).
