You can be promised one thing verbally but the end result can be unsatisfactory. Your construction may all come to a halt as I had to have to wait for Delta come back several times to finally give me satisfactory work. Normally a company gets better with years of service, I can't say that this is my experience with Delta Hardwood Flooring. Johnny is a nice enough person but he handles the bids. I can't vouch for his crew as the work is inconsistent. It depends who you get.

It should've been a red flag for me when the wood Delta had delivered was in the wrong size and finish then what I had ordered. But my friend used them and said other than leaving the place a bit messy, she was happy with her finished floor. So I said not a deal breaker and took another day off work to have the correct wood delivered. Delta said they could finish over the weekend, in 2-3 days, since it was a small space, prefinished, glue down application. They came Saturday but then all of a sudden said they had to glue down only part of the floor and come back on Monday to finish the rest "for the glue to dry so they can make sure the floor is installed straight". I think they more likely had a competing job, but long story short, it took them until Thursday (so I had to delay my trip out of town) to finish the floor. Cons: - I came home one day to find them installing in the kitchen without tearing up the linoleum and without installing underlayment which is against condo rules. I made them tear up the install and lay underlayment but I never would've known if I didn't come to check on them. This was a huge issue to me. - Two boxes of open wood (e.g., non-returnable) are leftover which is waay more than overage necessary for emergency repairs down the road. - The fireplace transition looks awful since they didn't undercut the brick like professional installers normally do. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/X6OeEGhri2Na-yvUCdYbdw?select=PvWnMZJtSLthnwTMIIYdHg - One side of the kitchen was uneven because the baseboard wasn't taken off before the install. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/X6OeEGhri2Na-yvUCdYbdw?select=EWk5RrvbdDGdWObIpJy0OA - There are 2 big scratches on the floor from when they put the fridge back. - Carpet was left on the closet transition. - The guys also left a lot of glue on the floors, wall and furniture as well as a lot of sawdust everywhere. - They didn't leave the condo hallway clean so my HOA was not happy with me. - I was told all the insurance information I needed for the HOA was on the website but it wasn't, and led to a lot of problems with my HOA. - They drank all my soda in the fridge and used all my paper towels instead of bringing their own supply. - My toilet handle was broken and a hole left in the drywall without fixing or telling me. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/X6OeEGhri2Na-yvUCdYbdw?select=3QD1D_Xw8S_AUCuRFKfWMg I felt like I paid a lot of money and got a less than brand new product. You'd never tolerate paying thousands of $$ for a new car only to get a dirty dented lemon to drive off the lot and you shouldn't have to with a floor either. And other than the cost of the wood, it ended up being over $6 per sq ft so definitely not cheap. I witheld last payment and made them repair the scratches in front of the fridge. However, Delta claims they didn't do it since that wasn't part of their 'procedure' which pissed me off. I don't care what your procedure is, I came home to find a not so brand new floor; so are you implying I did it? There was just a LOT of excuses throughout the whole process. * "Oh, the wood you wanted is too narrow so it took longer (so a half inch narrower than what you thought led to 6 days instead of the 2-3? 2.5 inches isn't THAT narrow. And it was frustrating to come home on a delayed job to find one guy took off at 2:30pm on multiple days). * "The guys didn't break the toilet 'cause otherwise they would've told me (then who broke it?!). * "It's not our job to clean when we leave, you should hire professional cleaners for that (are you kidding me?!). * "The brick on your fireplace is uneven and we don't undercut brick" (sorry, but I don't think it's the client's responsibility to subcontract your work out, if you can't do it, hire someone that can...I'm paying you to get the job done. p.s. here's a video of how to do it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SV2G7gJh2es). Anyway, I felt like I had to post the review since all the other reviews are so different from my experience and maybe they'll make some improvements. Could be the experience is better with on-site finished, nail-down installations but definitely wouldn't use them if I knew what I know now. I felt like I constantly had to be on-site to keep an eye on them which is a job in itself, and overall, an 'Eek!' experience but bumped up a star since they did fix most of the issues (although they tried to take shortcuts for repairs like only re-installing baseboard on half of the wall since you have to look to the side of the fridge to see the rest --seriously?!) and since Johnny's so nice (but he won't be on-site, you'll just deal with him for the payments/specs).

Me: ....*jaw drop* Next day: Call twice, no answer, Against my better judgement, transit again to give them the benefit of the doubt. Arrive well before 5 pm. All doors locked. Call while I'm at the building. No answer. Never. Ever. Returning. If you love a store that doesn't answer calls and is never open- This is the place for you!!!

Before entering into a contract with Ilias we also spoke with two or three of his other clients, and they were all happy with his work. Ilian is courteous, and a creative thinker. He showed up when he said he would, he and he crew worked hard, and were efficient, and best of all--they do high-quality work for a reasonable price. We were Ilias' only project: he and his crew worked long hours to complete our job quickly, which we were grateful for. We appreciated the focus on our job, as we had heard about other contractors disappearing for long periods when they were working on another project. This meant that our job moved along well, and was completed relatively quickly. The room was well-sealed while the work was being done, and between that and the machine, which sucks up the dust as it is generated, dust was not a problem. Thanks to Ilias, we now have a beautiful new floor in the bedroom--all in keeping with the original estimate. When a problem arose (our house is old, and the closet posed a problem) Ilias was flexible, a good problem-solver, accommodating, and he kept us appraised of the extra cost, which was very reasonable. Turns out his son Justin has taken over the business. Met with Justin, got the estimate, which we were quite pleased with and hired him to do the work. The crew came in on Monday and pieced in the area damaged, sanded and put coat of sealant on the floor. Tuesday morning, at 8 am sharp, they arrived. The finish work was done and the final coating was applied. They were clean and courteous and we were happy with the end result! So, good service and for value, please consider calling Justin!!
