Their prices are affordable and my stylist was so kind and sweet, but unfortunately the curls made me look like a beauty pageant queen and then a few hours later my hair fell flat. You could not tell that I had gotten my hair done. The experience of getting my hair washed and styled was was lovely but the overall hair wasn't what I had hoped for.

I was able to get a receptionist on the phone but because she was new was unable to assist. I was directed to contact the individual hairdressers via Instagram. This required me to follow their page before I could message them. Really, really inefficient. In the meantime, I was able to locate another salon and hairdresser via Vagaro and book an appointment. These professionals may be great, but having an easy way to book will get more clients. In this day and age, the instantaneous booking is the bar and this place doesn't meet it. It is a hurdle/challenge to just get an appointment. I am sure these people are nice and are probably good at what they do.

I am a professional makeup artist contracted by this company, and I can tell you these folks…read moregenuinely have been abysmal to deal with from an employee standpoint and I'm not sure what that says about them as a company, but I would NOT trust your credit card number with them. They pay us via their own online payroll system and we have to login to to transfer our funds to a bank account or Paypal. After working a few jobs with them, my account was hacked and someone was able to login, add a new transfer method and transfer my wages to their account within 4 minutes of my being notified of a "new login". I saw it immediately as I was on my computer when it happened, and changed the password, but it was too late. They had transferred funds to a Paypal account that was named with my last name, so it's obvious that there was some kind of data breach in their system that allowed for someone to strategize this and did this either to track their transfers or simply to fly under the radar and not be noticed. I didn't share my password or login with anyone, nor did I have any other login attempts or hacks on any other account so it's obviously stemmed from wherever this data is being stored. This also obviously was someone that knew their system well enough to be able to do this so quickly in spite of their website backend being a little strange to navigate. After completely ignoring multiple emails, their controller finally responded. I was shocked at the lack of seriousness in the company's response. I could not imagine why any company would not take seriously that their data is so not secure, that their employees wages are straight up getting stolen. Who runs their company that way? When I finally did get a response, the controller was not only NOT EVEN A LITTLE BIT apologetic or empathetic for ACTUAL WAGES from hours of SKILLED WORK getting stolen from THEIR lack of security in THEIR unfortunate excuse for a payroll system, but when asked what the company was willing to do to rectify or assure me that I was safe to continue working and this would not happen again, she simply responded by denying that this has ever happened before and saying there was nothing she could do. I was floored. Any company that handles their employees and their online security this way has no ethics (at best) and can absolutely not be trusted, especially with your data and credit card info.

I had a special event to attend to and was very nervous and hesitant to go to a new salon knowing it would be important to have my hair done right. I walked out of Toni Burell's Hair Studio with the biggest smile on my face. She did a phenomenal job on my hair. She completely conquered my hair like the pro she is, hands down the best salon experience I've ever had. Being Hispanic with extremely curly hair, I always have a hard time finding a hair dresser that can straighten my hair. Growing up in Manhattan I never had a problem finding a hair stylist that can handle my hair, moving to Cali was a different story. I've tried atleast a dozen other salons in San Diego with zero luck, I've always walked out looking like a lion. Toni Burrell Hair Studio has changed all of that for me. In 2015 when my husband and I relocated to San Diego, he was looking for somewhere to get his hair twisted and we came across TBHS. My husband can be very particular, and he thoroughly enjoyed his visit. While there, I was able to see Toni work her magic on other clients while he was under the dryer, and at that point decided to get my hair done as well (on a different day of course). Over the past two years I have had many different styles, and I receive many compliments, so much so, that I asked for a pile of business cards to hand out to people around San Diego, because they are always wanting her information. Needless to say, you can't go wrong by going to TBHS. I was introduced to Toni through other business and she showed me pictures of other clients that were looking for my same desired hair style who are now loyal clients of hers. I was convinced that I would embark on my Loc journey with her, but after our first appointment I was sold. I love the versatility and expertise of this salon! It's basically a one still shop for all my hair needs. Toni, the owner has brought my scalp and hair back to life and does amazing extensions. My most recent visit was with Sana, she did the most beautiful and not to mention LIGHTWEIGHT waist length box braids I've had in my experience of ever getting individuals. Best experience ever!!! Diane did my hair and really took the time to provide me with the full customer experience. She did my hair same day even though I called close to closing. She was kind and did not rush. She answered all of my questions and explained everything she was doing. I got a relaxer and it came out great. I asked if I needed and trim because I have short hair and she said no. I like that because some stylist is all about getting your money and not about the health of your hair. I just moved to San Diego and was having trouble finding a reputable salon/stylist in the area. I actually discovered Toni through an instagram picture. I contacted her and went in the very next day for a consultation. I have been natural for 10 years and am out of touch with the sew-in process. She was patient and walked me through everything. The shop was clean and spacious and the two other women in the Salon were very kind and welcoming. Toni had me in and out in no time but it didn't feel rushed. Tyler was friendly and easy to talk to and I explained I had a work event that night and I was hoping he could style it so it would last for that. He sprayed every curl thoroughly and the curls held all night. I have been to several other salons over the years and was honestly shocked the whole thing was only $55. In this economy???? It was a steal and Tyler was lovely. Definitely will go back.

I was able to get a receptionist on the phone but because she was new was unable to assist. I was directed to contact the individual hairdressers via Instagram. This required me to follow their page before I could message them. Really, really inefficient. In the meantime, I was able to locate another salon and hairdresser via Vagaro and book an appointment. These professionals may be great, but having an easy way to book will get more clients. In this day and age, the instantaneous booking is the bar and this place doesn't meet it. It is a hurdle/challenge to just get an appointment. I am sure these people are nice and are probably good at what they do.

My hair had become brassy and I just wanted to add low lights and some dimension. I showed many, many photos to make it clear what I wanted. Unfortunately, the final result was drastically different from what I requested. Much of the interior and underside of my hair was colored a very dark brunette tone, creating a flat, heavy appearance rather than the dimensional look shown in the photos we reviewed. The ends of my hair look completely black, nothing like the photos I showed. The issue wasn't that my hair became darker overall. I expected more depth and lowlights. The issue was that much of the brightness and dimension was lost, particularly underneath, leaving large sections of the hair looking like one solid dark color. To Cynthia's credit, she did offer to adjust the color by adding highlights and ultimately provided a full refund when I explained that I was no longer comfortable proceeding with additional processing since my first request was so misunderstood and poorly executed. While I appreciate her efforts to make things right afterward, the final result did not reflect the look we spent significant time discussing beforehand. I'm honestly still devastated.

She generously offered to correct the previous work at no charge, and from the moment we met her, we knew we were in good hands. She took the time to listen, carefully assessed the condition of my mom's hair, explained what was realistic, and treated her with so much kindness, patience, and professionalism. The transformation was nothing short of amazing. She restored not only my mom's hair but also her confidence. The color, cut, and overall health of her hair looked better than we ever imagined possible. We were so impressed that we returned again yesterday for another appointment, and once again, the experience was absolutely wonderful. The results were beautiful, the service was exceptional, and it's clear she genuinely cares about her clients and takes great pride in her work. Finding someone who is not only incredibly talented but also honest, compassionate, and dedicated is rare. Don't come here for a blow out, maybe for other services but not a blow out . I knew I was in the…read morewrong place when she didn't section off my hair and leave the brushes inside. And she never asked me what kind of blow out I wanted. My blow outs take around 90 minutes and I was in there within less than an hour. There's a place that specializes in blow outs in the same plaza, I'm beating myself up for not going there instead. It just looks like I got my hair straightened !!!! Like why would I pay $70 just to get my hair straightened. She asked to use the flat iron and I said yes because I could tell the way she rounded my hair with the brush wasn't going to hold . In the end, when I seen it looked like all I did was get my hair straightened, I asked her to flip my ends, she didn't even know what I meant by that, I thought that's what she was doing when she was going over my hair with the flat iron. I was so over it at that point. There's a section of my hair that's still damped. This is supposed to be for my birthday . I am so pissed. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. I'm honestly a lil offended like do I look like I don't know how to wash my hair and straighten it myself ? Why would I make an appointment for that?

Horrible experience. I spent the last year in and out of hospitals due to spine surgeries, and Groupon reactivated my voucher for this salon. Once there, the stylist, Danielle, forced me to pay an extra $80 out of pocket. I specifically requested a straight, above-the-shoulder haircut and showed her a photo. Danielle completely ignored my request and left my hair long, with a bad V-shape (pointed) in the back, below my shoulders. She intentionally left it poorly done and longer just to justify overcharging me the extra $80. To make things worse, she left the bleach on my head for an extra 20 minutes because she left to talk to a friend (can see in the cameras) . My hair turned bright orange/carrot color and is severely damaged. It has been a week and my scalp is still burning due to chemical burns from her negligence. Do not go to this place or see Danielle. It is a scam and a health hazard. I was so sad and honestly I not liked saying anything in the moment, I was in shock, the salon was full and I use walker...I just got home and trying to healing my hair scalp with my primary doctor.
