This is a long overdue compliment - Shelby is fabulous. I have been going to her for close to ten years. I had a brief two years in San Diego where I longed for her to do my hair. In fact, I came back for a visit and made sure she did my hair. She truly is talented, gifted and a really nice person. Shelby just knows what style looks good and I never have been unhappy. I actually just let the salon, but I know if I don't post now it'll never happen! I had another awesome experience today. About 5 months ago, I saw Amber and made a drastic change. I decided to go back and saw Ruben this time. I really appreciated that he took the time to get familiar with my hair and understand that I usually air dry it wavy so I really needed something that would work that way too. He was amazing to work with and took that time that it needed even though I know he was super backed up because the person before me was running late. I didn't do any color today because I miss how my virgin hair felt, but even 5 months later my color still looks good. It usually takes hours to do my hair because I have so much of it, but she was lightning quick. And she even had time do do my cousin's hair, who did not have an appointment. I had my hair done by heather, who knew I was kind of iffy of paying around 40 dollars for a haircut but she made it worth every penny! Michael was amazing! I wanted to donate 10 inches to Locks for Love, but was incredibly nervous about getting my hair cut because I'd been growing it for years with only occasional trims at a nearby beauty school. For this drastic cut, however, I knew I should go to a professional. I searched the web, read reviews, and asked friends. Based on my research, I decided on Tonic II. I needed a same-day appointment, which receptionist Andrew scheduled. When I arrived, I was visibly stressed about cutting off 10 inches. Michael neither babied me nor made me feel foolish for my nervousness. Instead, he talked me through the process in a patient and kind manner, and we agreed on the plan. In order to get an accurate 10 inches, he washed my naturally curly hair first, blowed it out, and then used the flat-iron. It is important to add that he engaged me in pleasant, intermittent conversation--not too much or too little. The end result was a long A-line which satisfied my desire to donate along with my hope to keep some length. I got to have my cake and eat it too! The price was more than fair, as he gave me a discount for donating my hair. On a side note, he was also very accommodating to my partner, who took pictures throughout the process. I could have sworn that I had already written a review, or at LEAST checked in at this place.... but to no avail I had not. So here she goes, I had made an appointment to attempt to get some more control over the mess I had made of my hair while I was in london for a long period of time (my roots were showing, decided to put a semi-perm color on and this was a very bad idea when it has come to getting the blond highlights I love so much, Back from this incident). Memorial day wknd I was going to be going out on Saturday night and felt the need to get something done with my hair as to have it look decent in the pictures we were going to take. Andrew the super nice reception/customer service person was great and got me in within the hour. When I got to the Salon, my appointment was with Shelby. Her chair is right behind the reception desk. I have to say that I do NOT like the full length mirror that sits in front of most if not all of the stations. Maybe its me, but Im not really one to want to look too much at anything other than my hair when Im getting it done. Having a full length vantage point gives me too much to overly critique (and a promise to diet and exercise more was made that day in the chair). Other than that, and that Shelby isn't hugely talkative, I give her a break because we haven't ever partnered for this experience before so we will see if it changes up a bit when I go the next time. She did an excellent job with my color, traded me that first time client special for a trim on my much needed ends and overall, way more reasonable than I had expected. I hope maybe sometime again the Groupon ppl will put this Salon back on their deal list, but til then I like the place, my stylist and the outcome was better than I could have hoped. read more

I'm very picky when it comes to stylists. I have long, long thick curly hair and Casey at Tonic always does a great cut and smooth blow out. She even took extra time for me to show me how to curl my hair like the Kardashians :) I was blessed to find her. I saw several stylists before I came in to Tonic and was not happy with their style. How can you mess up a side swept bang? Casey has great technique, great customer service and is very personable. The salon itself is inviting and not stuffy at all. Love the vibe in the room! Stylist: Bonnie Reception: Andrew I've been going to Bonnie at Tonic II for about six months now. The BEST cut and style I've had yet in Vegas. She is a ton of fun and more importantly, very talented. My head is like a football and Bonnie is the first who's been able to minimize the "Hey Arnold" effect. When she asks me what I want done, I tell her a few words, ("A little shorter this time") and let her loose. Great wash, cut, wash again, neck massage, hot towel on your face, and style for a very reasonable price. The atmosphere at Tonic II is very comfortable, really interesting design, coffee, candy, and drinks are available. One of my coworkers (who also has thick, naturally wavy hair) showed with an amazing haircut (Twiggy meets Mia Farrow in "Rosemary's Baby"). She referred me to Tonic II and her stylist Shelby. Setting up my initial appointment was easy and I was happy with my haircut. Shelby is an active listener, provides honest feedback, and is very quick. She avoids my biggest pet peeve with stylists - she does not drone on an on about her personal life, nor pry into mine. We can have a discussion about music or be completely silent during my appointments - it never feels like our conversation is forced, and I appreciate that.
